Hair Analysis - Part 2
Dr. Henner Fahrenbach analyzed over a dozen hair samples that could not be attributed to any commonly known North American animal but shared a common suite of distinguishing features.
Sample A: This was a dark reddish brown to black in color. It was wavy to slightly curly in parts and ranged from 3" to 15" in length. A cross-section of the hair showed it to be round to slightly flattened the entire length. The medulla was absent, with only a minimal fragmentary medulla in one region. The cuticle pigmentation showed an irregularly waved mosaic pattern. Scale margins were smooth to slightly wrinkled. Most of these hairs showed that they were at the growth stage where they were ready to fall out on their own. A few of the strands had follicles attached. Split ends were evident on a few of them, giving them a brush-like tip, but most of the hairs had smooth, rounded worn tips. NONE SHOWED EVIDENCE OF BEING CUT.

Hair Analysis - Part 1
Hair analysis is a much-debated topic among researchers. A common complaint is that scientists just won't come out and say it's sasquatch hair. They only say it's unknown.
The answer is: It's unknown. Any reputable scientist will never officially label a hair sample with the name of an unknown creature. If, and until, a known, acknowledged, classified sasquatch is presented to scientists for study; hair, DNA, and all that "stuff" will remain UNKNOWN.
We will sometimes get "indeterminate identity". This is a step forward that indicates the acceptance among some of an unknown animal.
Mountain Monsters - Part 2
In season two, episode six, the Mountain Monsters crew went hunting for the legendary Sheepsquatch of Boone County, West Virginia.
Sheepsquatch is traditionally described as a quadrapedal, bear-sized, white, wooly creature with horns, with a long and pointed head somewhat resembling a dog's. In addition to the horns, it is also said to have long, saber-like teeth; the horns similar to those on a young goat. It's front legs end in paw-like hands and it has a long and hairless tail. It is said to smell like sulfur.

Mountain Monsters - Bigfoot Editions - Pt 1
Love 'em or hate 'em, we have all probably heard of the TV show and have probably watched more than a few episodes. Among the creatures they have tried to trap with Willie's fantastic creations are varieties of bigfoot. Legend and some reality meets TV in their shows, and that is sometimes worth further investigation. So let's look for the kernels of truth among the chaff of TV.
The first bigfoot that the boys decided to tackle was the Ohio Grassman.
He is said to be a 7ft tall, 300 lb. bigfoot-type creature, bipedal, allegedly eating wheat and other planted grasses to supplement his diet. He is found throughout the state, not just in the southern portion, although there are many "hotspots" in that part of the state, including Salt Fork State Park. Not everyone refer to our bigfoot as "Grassman". We do say bigfoot, or sasquatch, or use our favorite nicknames like "The Big Man" or "The Big Guy".
The Many Faces Of The Yeti
Part of the confusion that is generated by the Western world in trying to understand the Yeti is the fact that "Yeti" is a catch-all phrase we have been left with to refer to some of the creatures that inhabit the Himalayas.
Let's take a look at some of the other names used to describe the creatures.
Kukeri Dancers From Bulgaria
Making the rounds of several bigfoot groups is a video from Bulgaria featuring Kukeri dancers. This troupe of performers are dressed in fur costumes with hair covered, and head-covering masks. And the question being asked is: Are these meant to depict a bigfoot-type creature?
Well, according to my research, in one word: Nope. Not if these dancers have designed their costumes based on traditional themes.
Ryan Upchurch Shares Kentucky UFO Sighting
Ryan Upchurch made another video detailing a UFO sighting he and a friend had while traveling through Kentucky. The sighting took place in the early morning hours and caused some malfunction to his car.
I find it refreshing that someone of his popularity and stardom is willing to talk about these subjects.

Monster of Sister Lakes Michigan
In June 1964, reports of a 9-foot-tall monster made the news. The creature made several appearances in the area, resulting in a "carnival atmosphere".
At the center of this circus was the farm of John and Evelyn Ultrup. Although the media only started to cover the monster in 1964, reports had been made off and on for two years previous. Witnesses included John and Evelyn, Gordon Brown, Joyce Smith, Patsy, and Gail Clayton along with others.
Gordon Brown and his brother tracked this creature over the Ultrup farm and bordering properties and experienced several encounters with the creature. John Ultrup reported seeing the monster standing in his yard with its "big, bright shining eyes" reflected in his headlights.

Why History Is Important
My heart always sinks when people in the 'community' have no idea of what's gone before concerning Sasquatch. They don't know the names of those who blazed the trails for fieldwork, how to catalog the information, or broke down some of the barriers with mainstream America. They don't know things to look for, things to be wary of, or even when or where to ask questions.
I feel the pain of those researchers who have been here for a while and I feel the pain of those who are new to this strange phenomenon. That's why I agreed to do a blog. To try to reach out to those who feel a need to find answers, to learn things. To bridge that gap between guessing and knowing.
And that's why today I'm going to talk about why it's important to know your history and why it's important.
License To Bully

While reading a book the other day, I ran across this term that caught my attention. Actually it is an Italian word. A term used to cover a great multitude of meaning.
Dietro meaning "behind". Logia meaning "the study of".
In Italy, this means that the idea that is the obvious thing cannot be the truth. There has to be, there always is, something hidden behind that truth.
Bigfoot Trackline Found in Oregon!
This breaking report comes out of Oregon where around 75-100 possible Bigfoot tracks have been found in a dry lake area. It is not uncommon for lakes to be down low this time of year. And we all know that the area in general, is a fantastic area for Bigfoot and Bigfoot sightings.

Antelope Mountains Hairy Man
In 1879, while out duck hunting, William Shegan and his friend Mr. Gore flushed out more than just flying targets.
As evening approached, the two men, returning to the ranch, took a shortcut across the mountain. The trail they were on was a rough one that went through the wildest part in the Antelope range of the mountains.
They were carefully working their way along the edge of a chasm when they heard an "animalistic noise" back towards a cliff. Looking in that direction, they saw a "large, hairy man-like animal". Suddenly it began running with "the speed of the wind". Thinking it was an animal, Mr. Gore shot at it, wounding the creature in the arm.
Deer Hunting - Bigfoot Style
Speculations abound and stories are shared of bigfoot hunting deer. They talk of the hows and the maybe's of hunting those fleet creatures of the woods and fields. These two stories encompass their "grocery" or "convenience" store approach to their meal.
Larry Martin and his friends learned of bigfoot's fast food approach while hunting near Alpine, Oregon in 1961. It was evening and the men were returning to a location to pick up a deer that one of them had shot earlier. When they arrived at the spot, they could see that the carcass had been dragged from the spot. Hearing thrashing noises in the brush nearby, the men cautiously began to look about. They were hesitant in looking for the deer, having no idea what could be making all the noise.
Ohio Stories From The Early Days
In the 1800s, the "Wildman" or "Gorilla" ran wild in the Ohio woods.
In late April near Stout, Ohio, a "Wildman" was being seen in the woods. After it allegedly attacked a boy, thirty armed men hunted for the creature. It was described as very tall and "almost naked". And that it could run like a deer. Another witness said the "Wildman" was wearing a pair of tattered pants.
Hmmm. Almost naked. Does that mean it was hairy? As for the tattered pants, the mind may tell us the creature had to have clothes, that it couldn't be long hair, matted and dirty. Who knows? There is no report that the thirty men ever found the attacker.

What's It Like? - Face To Face With Bigfoot
There's lots of talk in bigfoot group forums and anywhere that bigfoot enthusiasts gather. A question that never fails to come up: What would you do if you came face to face with a bigfoot? or the: What was the first thing you did, said, thought, etc. when you saw it?
Happens all time. It did for me just the other night. I was talking with fellow researcher, blogger and friend Leo. At some point or other in the conversation, Leo said as a joke: "I'm starting to tremble."
Wildmen of China
We take another trip today into the wild terrain of China to take a look around for the wildman said to reside there.
Reports are rare from China; the political policy of the country may be partly to blame. But we do have records of wild men going back a long way.
Li Yanshow, a 9th Century historian, talked of a band of wild men residing in the forests of Hubei. The 18th Century poet, Yuan Mei, wrote about a creature found in the wild regions of Shanxi province. He called them "monkey-like, yet not monkey-like".
In 1940, Wang Zelin, was a graduate of the biology department of Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He claimed to have seen a corpse of the creature. He was driving to Tianshui in Gansu Province when he heard gunfire. Driving on a little further, he came upon a group of soldiers standing around a strange body. It appeared to be a female, human-like, about 6'6" tall, and covered with a coat of thick greyish-red hair about 1 1/4 inches long. The hair on its head was about 12" long but the hair on its face, was shorter. The cheekbones were prominent and the lips jutted out.

Wildman In Kentucky
Before we knew them as Sasquatch or Bigfoot, or even called them gorilla, there were reports of Wildmen in the woods.
Deep Creek, Kentucky - May 1894. In this rural area, people began reporting that something seemed to be stealing their chickens, eggs, young pigs, lambs and various other food items.
One morning, Eph Boston and his sons saw a creature heading to their barn. It was about 6 1/2 ft. tall, and had clawed feet and cat-like hands. After entering, it then came out running, carrying three chickens. Tom Boston fired at it with his gun, but the creature escaped. They followed it to where it disappeared into a cave.

Oh Wait - There Are More Theories!
Although the Bigfoot-Giganto Theory is the most debated and seems to be the most popular, there are other theories out there to which believers subscribe.
Another theory is the Paranthropus Theory which is similar to the Bigfoot-Giganto Theory. It states the bigfoot is a descendant of Paranthropus which is a genus of bipedal apes. These apes are said to have evolved in Africa from the Australopithecines. The Australopithecines are the same ancestors that humans are believed to have come from. This theory ties human's past closer to bigfoot's and takes in the bipedal aspect and the similar foot development.

Gigantopithecus Part 2
Most of us in the Community are familiar with the Bigfoot-Giganto Theory. It is based on the belief that bigfoot are surviving relatives of the genus Gigantopithecus and that this creature crossed the Bering Land Bridge into North America and evolved into the modern day bigfoot.
So let's break it down by listing pro and con.
Three 1960's "Quickies" From Minnesota
Just for the fun of it: Three short encounters from Minnesota from the 1960s. These appeared as "fillers" in various publications and there are few details known.
In fall of 1968 in La Crescent, a man thought he heard one of his friends approaching the duck blind in which he waited. He stood up to caution the guy to be quieter. Instead of his friend, he found himself looking at the middle of a huge,black, hairy chest. He dropped his shotgun, which set off a shot and the tall hairy creature ran off screaming.

Gigantopithecus Part 1
This massive creature existed 9 million years ago to as recent as 100,000 years ago. Teeth and jawbones have been found primarily in China, India and Vietnam. Fossil records indicate it was the largest known primate that ever lived. 9.8 ft tall, 1190 to 1320 lbs. Some disagree asserting that Gigantopithecus was smaller - around 5.7 ft and 400-600 lbs. These size differences can perhaps be explained by looking at the different species.
I got the following report a few days ago and wanted to share it. I'm sure there an many more details about this area that the family could tell us. It also reminded me of a show I did a few years ago on My Crypto World entitled Bigfoot and Outhouses.

Open Minds Update
I saw a couple of things on FB and in groups I belong to this week. One was a very encouraging post from a friend about a Bigfoot meeting held recently. Several area search groups and teams attended this meeting. And they talked about cooperation with each other and about being open-minded to others' theories and research methods. It was acknowledged that these are small steps of course. The biggest obstacle: Trust.
Trust. That doesn't come easy at any time. And especially in this day. We've all become Fox Mulder. We trust no one. Not even our own mothers. And probably rightfully so. We see people's research and evidence being "borrowed" all over the world. Even down to a "nobody's" encounter. Their story is taken and with a few little changes, or even sometimes no changes, it is shared again and again as the thief's own encounter. Photographs are grabbed and videos photoshopped to reflect the made up or borrowed story.
Taking a little vacation from North America today. We're traveling to the Himalayas. Come with me as we talk "Yeti".
Most everyone knows of Eric Shipton who in 1951 returned from his expedition with photographs of an alleged Yeti footprint. The track was 12 in. long and 5 in. wide. There was a big rounded toe slightly to one side; the second toe was separate and the lateral toes were smaller and grouped together. And it wasn't just one track. They followed a trail of these tracks for more than a mile.
They had also found similar tracks several other times. The sherpas described the Yetis or Wild Men as half-man and half-beast, around 5 1/2 feet tall, with a tall pointed head. It's body was covered with hair but it had a hairless face. They said it was not a bear or monkey and said this with confidence as they were familiar with both of those animals.

Open Minded? Or Stubbornly Closed?
I ended a previous post with a suggestion for people to be open-minded. But as I look at the groups I hold membership in, I can find closed minds blowing up the posts.
Why is it that we rise up on our hind legs and demand that non-believers throw their opinions and beliefs to one side and OPEN THEIR MINDS to what we feel is the truth.
And then turn around with CLOSED MINDS and punch each other to the ground over our differences of theories.
SHAME on us. SHAME on those who are closed-minded. And SHAME on those of us who allow it.
Mrs. Callie Lund's Bigfoot Story
In 1969, John Green received a letter from Mrs. Callie Lund of Rochester, Washington. And here's the story she had to tell.
It was a snowy and wet spring in 1933. The terrain was comprised of ranches along the river, farming the bottom land, but with houses and buildings on the logged-out hillsides. These were referred to as "stump ranches". By 1933, some of the hillsides were now covered in second-growth timber.
At this time Mrs. Lund was attending high school in Oakville and on the weekend she was talking about, she had just returned home from a dance in Oakville. She had gone with several other young girls. When returning home from an evening out, she always walked around the house to the back door. That night, just as she started to open the back door, she heard a very loud noise up on the hill behind the house. She was familiar with the sounds of the wildlife on the hill, the coyotes and cougars. This was a sound she had never heard before.

Native Americans And Bigfoot - Random Thoughts
It is believed that among the Native Americans, the existence of sasquatch is taken for granted along with his strong psychic abilities.
He always knows when people are looking for him and he decides who gets to see him, to interact with him. He has psychic powers which allow him to avoid capture or being hunted. They view sasquatch as a member of the family -- a close relative, "the great elder brother".
Sasquatch also has a place in the real world; that he is a natural flesh and blood creature, as much a part of nature as deer or bear, just more rare and elusive. He is not meant to be "known" in the way white man "knows" things. To encounter one is fortunate. Do not chase it; let it be.
Mrs. Louise Baxter and The Bigfoot
Skamania, Washington has had its share of Sasquatch experiences. Mrs. Louise Baxter reported two within a year.
In November 1969, around 10 pm, Mrs. Baxter was driving down the highway when a "very very big" grey shaggy biped walked across the road in front of her car. This was on the Lewis and Clark highway near North Bonneville.
An Older Report From Canada
In the 1960s a letter was sent out from one man who witnessed something strange. He and two other amateur prospectors were near Ribbon Creek Rd., east of Banff, Alberta, Canada, eating their lunch. Looking up they were startled to see a "gorilla" sitting on its haunches, watching them eat. Both parties stayed frozen, watching each other, for about 5 minutes, then the "gorilla" stood up.
Thoughts From John Green Still Valid Today
John Green shared many of his thoughts and conclusions throughout his book "Sasquatch the Apes Among Us" while he collected those reports of encounters and shared the experiences of those with whom he spoke. Many are worth keeping in mind even today.
He spoke of how not all the reports were true, that there probably were hoaxes involved; some stories sensationalized by newspapermen trying to sell papers. But also, that the reports he had gathered represented only a small portion of the encounters that were out there. All the old stories that never got into print are gone forever. And there are many that are lost in old publications that people have not yet found.
Knobby: Legendary Bigfoot
Knobby. He has or had a Facebook page and a website. And is billed as North Carolina's most famous bigfoot. He is said to be 200 lbs., 6 ft. tall, and dark-haired with a small head and a flat face.
His first reported sighting was on December 21, 1978, in Toluca. Eighty-eight
year-old Minnie Cook caught sight of the creature near her home. The black hairy animal so terrified Mrs. Cook that after that sighting she never left her house without her rifle in hand. When her sighting was investigated, tracks were found and screams were reported in the area.
Does the Government suppress Bigfoot research from moving forward?
Does the Government know about Sasquatch? Yes they do, not only do they know but they have people in the "Community" to guide things along so everything stays the same and no progress is made. They declare everything blurry as nothing and everything clear as a hoax. Its their job,its the only reason they are here and have stayed here for many years. They claim it all nonsense but yet there they are every single day keeping track to the point of stalking to shut people up. Keep an eye out for the ones that make the most noise about it all being nonsense and ask yourself if they really felt that way, why would they be so involved in the subject?. You don't believe in unicorns but you don't spend 24 hours a day obsessing over them do you? We had an acquaintance back in 2018 start a group and website that named names and in less than 24 hours everything was taken down. Not a coincidence.
One of the major things that happened in my last year in New Brunswick was that although I'm not much in to conspiracy theories, I came to know that the Canadian Government does know of the existence of Sasquatch and doesn't want you to.

The Story of Muchalat Harry
In 1928, a fur trapper and Nootka Native American by the name of Muchalat Harry came paddling home to Vancouver Island in his canoe at around 3:00 am. What was unusual was that he had no equipment with him and no furs; he was dressed in only his underwear; he was suffering from exposure to the winter weather; and he was clearly terrified.
While nursing him back to health, his family and friends were unable to get anything beyond "babbling" from Muchalat, so they turned his care over to the local missionary in hopes he could discover what had happened to the frightened man.

The Winsted Wildman
The Winsted Wildman is one name given to the bigfoot population that has been reported in Litchfield County in Northern Connecticut.
A general description given states it has a thin coat of blond or light-brown hair which is unlike the usual reported coats of other bigfoots. He is reported to typically avoid contact with people, staying in wooded areas near water. Cars parked in "lover's lanes" have called in reports of the creature watching them and then fleeing with a series of yelps and whoops.
Bald Peter Butte Bigfoot
I love the old stories. You have to keep in mind that this takes place before the coining of the names sasquatch or Bigfoot. The gorilla had not yet been discovered. There are no natural monkeys or apes in North America. Therefore, when men came across unusual creatures that resembled a man, and walked on two feet like a man, they called them "Wild Men".
Burning sage is commonly called smudging, and it can be used for a variety of purposes depending on the type being used. Smudging is generally used as a spiritual cleansing with smoke using special sacred herbs.
You can smudge a person, a place, a building, or an object. Smudging is a process that has been practiced for thousands of years in some form or another by cultures all around the world.
Smudging is normally used to remove negative energy and bring a feeling of peace and clarity. Have you ever been in a house and something just doesn't feel right? Or something just feels off about a location. Smudging the area will often remedy that "off" feeling.

3 Day Expedition in Kentucky
Just a little over two weeks ago, I had a friend come to visit from Pontiac Michigan for some Bigfoot research in the wilds of Kentucky. This is our adventure.
I had met Lewis a little over a year ago, he is friends with some of our family in Michigan and he had come down with them to Kentucky, to visit. Well, as fate would have it, Lewis is also a bigfoot believer. We had some good conversations about bigfoot and other cryptids. It didn't take long for us to hatch a plan for him to come to Kentucky and for me to take him out bigfooting.
