Snallygaster and Other Unusual Cryptids
The Snallygaster is a dragon-like beast said to inhabit Central Maryland, the Washington, DC, metro area, and particularly the Middletown area of Frederick County, Maryland. Many may not be familiar with this weird creature but that is changing thanks to a video game. But first lets learn something more about the Snallygaster.
German immigrants first settles these areas around 1730's and early accounts say their community was terrorized by a monster called a Schneller Geist, meaning "quick ghost" in German. The snallygaster was described as half-reptile, half-bird with a metallic beak lined with razor-sharp teeth,
occasionally with octopus-like tentacles. It swoops silently from the
sky to pick up and carry off its victims. The earliest stories claim
that this monster sucked the blood of its victims. Seven-pointed stars, which reputedly kept the snallygaster at bay, can still be seen painted on local barns.
Snallygaster is an odd creature indeed but it is not the only. The Grafton Monster is another cryptid that some might not know about. This beast is a large humanoid cryptid said to reside in the forests around Grafton, West Virginia in the US. Another very odd think about the Grafton monster is that it is a large bi-pedal creature with no visible head, and covered in slick and white seal-like skin. In 2014,the television show Mountain Monsters featured the Grafton.
These and several other cryptids are featured in a video game. That game is introducing many new people to the world of cryptids.
