There are so many rumors and stories lately of this 'big, bad bigfoot': Cannibal, kidnapper, man-hater. I'd like to share some stories of a different kind of creature. One just a little more believable, in my opinion.
It was summer, 1963. A man went out hunting for deer near Mt. Shasta. He had gone alone and so had no one with him when he fell and badly injured his leg. He finally was able to get to his feet, but could barely hobble. He was worried as he knew how long of a journey he had to get to where he could find some help.
"I don't care if you believe me or not." Witness to the creature called Dogman, or Werewolf. In the autumn of 2013, the witness had not only one encounter but had a second sighting of an unusual, frightening being.
The witness was working night shifts at the time which meant he had to travel the dark roads in the sighting area on a regular basis. One night as he was traveling down Johnson Road, which borders Silver Creek Metro Park, he abruptly stopped his car as two deer raced across the road heading south. What he saw pursuing them was attention-grabbing.
"I would place them somewhere between 6'6" and 7' tall. They chased the two deer (which were both smaller, by the way) out across the street and into the woods. They ran [in formation] . . . one in front, two behind, kind of next to each other. They were roughly 30-40 yards behind the deer. They were bipedal, very muscular, and fast; lightning fast. It all happened in just a few seconds. I couldn't describe any features, unfortunately; I'm assuming it was either a new moon or cloudy because it was very dark, but they were definitely a dark color . . . maybe a chocolate brown or a black color."
He was questioned if perhaps what he saw was a bigfoot. There are many reported sightings of them in Ohio. Said the witness : "They say that bigfoot has long arms that swing when it runs, and it runs like a human. Whatever these were, they weren't bigfoot. I can't describe how they moved, but they didn't move like a person."
It was only a couple of weeks later when the witness was again heading home on Johnson Road. As he was driving past a cornfield, something ran out in front of his car.
"The fields had full-grown cornstalks, but I don't know the exact heights only that the cornstalks were taller than me by a head and I'm 6 feet tall. This time, [my sighting of two creatures] was a quick flash because there was no open land to it. They basically leaped the road as they broke the corn and landed about 10-15 feet into the field on the other side and kept running. This time, the pair that I saw in the moonlight, the first was black and the second was black with white or silver on its chest and back . . . Since the first three I saw were all a solid color, that means there must be at least four different creatures."

In August of this year (2018) a post was shared by Kimberly Mills Parker called : The Elliot Lake Ape-Men. In the article the author relates stories from her grandpa.
The story can get confusing, so will list the "cast" and identification here.
The "he" in the story is her grandpa. He is one of the sons in the story. The father is the author's Great grandfather and the father of her "grandpa". Two brothers in the encounter are her great uncles [perhaps the George and Gord mentioned later by the author.] Sister listed would be the author's great aunt and her grandpa's sister.
A few days ago a friend contacted me via Facebook and wanted to report what he and his wife saw in the sky over Harlan County. Over the years there has been numerous reports of unknown objects in this general area.
What follows is this detailed description, along with a follow up question.
The Dyatlov Pass Incident: Even More Theories and Conjecture - Part 6
And now the rest of the "best" of the theories and conjectures. Some of the previous ones discussed and some of these may have overlapping interpretations of the facts. Keeping all that in mind, let's finish.
9 ) The Infrasound Theory
First off, to understand how this theory works we should first define it. Infrasound, or low-frequency sound, is sound with frequencies below the lower limit of human audibility. [below "normal" human hearing]. The ear is the primary organ for sensing infrasound but at higher intensities, it is possible to feel infrasound vibrations in various parts of the body.
99% of the time there is no effect on humans when we encounter infrasound. If one is subjected to intensive prolonged episodes, we begin to feel it more physically. Feelings of unease, nervousness, fatigue; hallucinating; being sick to the stomach; digestive problems; vertigo and imbalance. Longer term encounters can result in loss of sleep, shortness of breath, and feelings of extreme dread.
The Dyatlov Pass Incident: More Theories and Conjecture - Part 5
And theories multiply as to what happened to the 9 hikers on that day in 1959.
6 ) Avalanche
The avalanche theory is one of the more popular ones. It is less conspiracy induced and allows Mother Nature to play a key role. But, in fact, Kholat Syakhl is not a very tall mountain and is not very steep. And the diaries of the hikers talk of a fairly thin snow cover.
Those facts cannot dismiss all of the danger that could occur, of course. It is possible for a part of the upper layer of snow to shift, rolling over the landscape. Such an event could have happened and the snow could have rolled over the campsite in the form of a huge slab of snow. This would have damaged the tent and could cause panic among people trapped under several feet of snow. This type of event would explain why the tent was cut from the inside. And it would explain a retreat down the hill without stopping to gather everything up.
A couple of day ago I made a post about a cougar report that included another brief reference to hairless big cat sightings, well today I can bring you some more information about the sightings. If you missed the original post you can find it by clicking here.
This update was sent to us from the person, Jo, who submitted the cougar sighting to us. So a big thanks to Jo for doing a follow up on this possible new cryptid.
The Dyatlov Pass Incident: Theories and Conjecture - Part 4
So, just what happened to the 9 hikers on that
mountain? There are many theories out there. Some based on facts, others
that take one statement and run with it. Let's take a closer look at
some of them.
Cougar Sighting From Kentucky and A New Cryptid Cat?
A few days ago I posted a report entitled "Witness describes seeing black panther" and ask for other reports. Well, I recently got and email about a cougar sighting in an unlikely place but that is not all.
Included in the email is a description of a possible new cryptid large cat. What follows is the email of the report about the cougar, along with some questions, and information about the new possible cryptid.
It was not until March 5th, that more of the hikers were discovered.
Rustem Slobodin's body was found 525 yards from the cedar tree. The body was lying face down, head towards the tent, and was covered with about 20 inches of snow. Slobodin was dressed in a long sleeved undershirt, a sweater, a shirt, two pairs of pants, four pairs of socks, and a felt boot on his right foot. In the chest area, under the sweater were two shoe insoles and he had 310 rubles and his passport in the shirt pocket. His watch had stopped at 8:45 am. In other clothing pockets were found a small penknife, a pencil, a pen, a comb in a plastic sleeve, a box of matches still containing 48 matches, and one cotton sock.
Officials were reluctant to sound an alarm when Dyatlov's group was overdue. They had received information that there had been a heavy snowstorm in the area in which the party was headed and assumed that the hikers had made a camp in a safe area to ride out the storm. The parents of Dubinina and Kolevatov were told by the head of the UPI sport club [Lev Semyonovich Gordo] that Dyatlov had sent a telegram explaining the delay as they felt the group was probably already on their way back. Due to these delays, the relatives of the hikers eventually organized their own search party. The head of the military department of the University [UPI] took charge of the rescue party. Many students volunteered to go with Colonel Georgiy Semyonovich Ortyukov. Several parties entered the region on February 21st. Two of the groups were headed by Vizhay Blinov and Sogrin as their hiking groups had just returned from the region and knew the conditions. Another group of hikers led by Vladislav Karelin was nearby and joined the search effort. Planes from Ivdel Airport searched from the air.
The next day even more joined the search, including prison guards [Captain A.A. Chernyshov] and policemen [Lieutenant Potapov]. Another 3 groups of students formed under the leadership of Oleg Grebennik, Moises Akselrod and Boris Slobtsov. Local Mansi hunters volunteered to help and search for the students. Moscow sent people including E.P. Maslenikov, Baskin, Bardin and Shuleshko.
The Russian government has decided to open a new investigation into the deaths of the nine who perished in 1959.
There are so many rumors and theories out there that even more confusion muddies the ground. Let's take a look at the things that are more certain.
Plans began to be finalized for the trip in late January, 1959. There was a total of 10 students and former students from the Ural Polytechnic Institute. Eight men and two women were going; they were led by Igor Dyatlov. (The pass was named for him after the tragedy.) The goal of the group was to ski across country for 14 days with the mountain Otorten as their destination. All members of the team were experienced in long ski trips and mountain expeditions. At this time of the season, the route they were going was classified as a probable "Category III", which was the most difficult.
There has long been questions about why bigfoot bones have not been found. But if we actually look into it, we see that there has been numerous bones and skeletons found over the years. Where they of a Bigfoot...we really may not know for sure, but some might have been. Some remains just seemed to disappear or go unaccounted for and we never hear anymore about them.
One of the reasons why we may not find bigfoot bones often is that they bury their dead. I talk about this at great lengths in my book Understanding Bigfoot: Helpful information and answers to common questions. There are several very creditable researchers I spoke with on the subject. There are other factors in play as well, which are also discussed in the book.
Sometimes, I find odd grave like mounds in the mountains, but I rarely every talk or post about it. But today I wanted to share just a little about it.
Many people in several different states have said they have saw a black panther, only to be told that their particular area, wherever it may be, does not have any large cats. We hear about locals being told the "we don't have large cats here" over and over, but if that is true what are people seeing?
I know here in my area of southeast Kentucky, we have these large cats as I have personally seen one that was standing, then bolting away, in the middle of the road as I rode my ATV. And yes it had the long tail and everything.
What follows is yet another witness who saw a possible black panther and is interested to see if anyone else in their area has seen it.
There are many bigfoot/sasquatch/cryptid groups on Facebook nowadays. Hundreds of them, I'm sure. Some are closed, some open, some private. But they are there.
And that's a good thing, for the most part. They are varied in what they cover -- with rules of conduct, without; with restricted types of posts, free for all; add everyone, have everyone request membership; give us your opinion, shut up if you don't agree.
If you don't agree with me, go away.
If you don't think like I think, be quiet.
If you don't believe everything I post, leave.
Hmm. How sad.
For by having that type of attitude, you have now reduced your group into a sad company of "yes, men".
In March of 2013 a story and a video from Russia came to the world's attention. In January, three young boys were hiking when they came across a line of strange tracks in the snow.
Yevgeny "Zhenya" Anisimov (12), Kirill Soldatov (12), and Alexander Pereverin (11) began to follow the tracks, laughing and talking, enjoying the "adventure" as young boys do. Yevgeny took out his cell phone and began to video the tracks as they made their way across the field. What they eventually caught up with startled the three and they fled back across the field, running for home.
While out recently I found what could possibly be stick formations created by bigfoot. I do know the area has had bigfoot activity for the last 10-plus years. Over that time frame, I have found many tracks, when I say many I mean hundreds of tracks. I have also had many encounters, and experiences in this area that were all bigfoot related.
On this particular day, I was returning to my gifting area and scouting around for any signs that Bigfoot had been in the area.
Here is a short video of the possible stick formations
I recently took a much-needed hike and research trip here in my little corner of Kentucky. As some of you may know, I have had an injured knee and have not been able to get out. The knee is feeling much better, but still not 100 percent, so I wanted to get into some areas I had not been in for several months.
One of my stops was at the lake. This time of year the water is lower and the coves are almost nothing but mud. This particular lake has a huge amount of forest area surrounding it and very few houses.

You're miles deep in the woods, no signs of civilization around you. Suddenly, you enter a clearing, and there stands a staircase. And nothing else. You start to approach, and suddenly you feel such dread and terror, you just want to run. Then you realize everything is silent. No birds, no wind, no sound but your panicked breathing. You turn and run.
Sounds like a great beginning for a scary movie, right? But people are saying this is real, not fiction. Isolated stairways to nowhere in the middle of the wilds.
'Ghost Of Portal 31' Has Intrigued A Global Audience
Pathfork Paranormal Investigator Determined To Unlock Secrets Underground
Thomas Marcum is no stranger to unexplained phenomenon underground. Besides being a highly-respected paranormal investigator and researcher living in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in Southeast, Kentucky, Marcum has witnessed enough bizarre occurrences happening in the hills to make him start expecting to see anomalies rather than being surprised with something mysterious does appear. One of the places that has received much of Marcum's time and energy are the emptied coal mines throughout Harlan County. It is the history of mining that intrigues Marcum. Having worked around the mines since he was 13 years old, Marcum is familiar with much of the fascinating history coming out of the coal fields' abandoned portals. It is a dark and dingy history that defined the culture of Harlan County - hard work, blood, sweat and tears. But, there's more to the complex history of coal mining than is shared in textbooks, stored in local archives, and displayed at mine museums. The oral histories that are handed down by coal miners telling of their days toiling away far beneath the Earth's surface are some of the most astounding tales coming out of these hollows, surpassing time and continuing with new generations of miners and their families. It is these stories that Marcum looks for.
Did a young man hear a couple of bigfoot talking outside of his family's home? It looks like that is very well what it might have been. Check out the rest of the story.
I recent got and email from a friend who I have been emailing back and forth with for several years. He always has some interesting stories and odd things to share with me. Some of the bigfoot related stories I can not share for one reason or another. But today I have some interesting events that I can share.
Baby Sasquatch Swinging In A Tree - Australian Yowie Style
This comes from a researcher from down under. Paul McLeod investigates Yowie reports and correlates them with missing people reports. In essence, he is the Australian Missing 411.
On his YouTube channel [Global Monster Australia] are many videos of possible Yowie. While McLeod believes in the existence of the Yowie that's not the main thing he is investigating. He is more interested in the disappearances and the strange deaths of people in Australia. He is trying to see if there is any connection between them.
I finally got to go back into the woods. I hurt my knee about one month ago and then as it was almost better I blew it out carrying some furniture. The second time was much worst than the first and I was down to using a cane for a few days. Yeah, I was moving really slowly through the house and could not even bend my knee for a few days.
Fast forward about 10-12 days and my knee is feeling much better. Not all the way better, but good enough I got to take a short trip to my gifting area.
This post is about two things : One - a photograph of an alleged bigfoot that keeps making the rounds; Two - people who take photos and try to pass them off as something either new, or theirs, or their neighbors, or a friend of a friend's . . . well, you get my meaning.
The photograph I'm sharing today has crossed my laptop a couple of times. And then showed up just recently in a couple other places. Then it showed up as a pending post for our group. As allegedly coming from a friend's trail cam. The member was messaged for more information about this photo, for after all, it might be possible that his friend is the original source of the photo. [Don't sneer at me. Stranger things have happened, people.] There has been no response as of yet. And so I go ahead with this post anyway.
PR was determined to see the "bigfoot" and as soon as his mother turned to flag down the others, he took off for the area from which the sounds had come. His mother had been in the location before during night investigations and wanted to see the area in daylight. At age 13, PR was excited to be included when she was to go meet two fellow researchers. The research area was located near Morton, in Lewis County, Washington. The trip took place on June 2, 2012.
The two were walking down the road in the area when they heard a loud "whistle-whine-gurgle" sound come from the brush about 60 feet away on the right hand side. They stopped and listened. Hearing only silence, they continued to walk. The sound came again, only now it was louder, "like a wild pig whistling under water". And then came 3 loud "human like" whistles from the other side of the road. This seemed to come from a hill.
I know, I know. It's about time I got to the "good stuff" about Ouija Boards. So, finally, here are some stories out there that people have told. And of course they're true. They're on the internet, right??
1. Teenager was being a typical teenager. Teased his girlfriend until she brought the board out for the group. Her condition was, she was going to have nothing to do with it. The teen asked a question and received no answer so he challenged it with "If anything is in here and not talking, you're a coward!" [which rule was that again??] The board was put away and forgotten. Cue to one week later. The teen is at home, sleeping upstairs, wakes up to a stormy night. He didn't think the thunder and lightning and rainfall would be enough to wake him, so he listened for a bit. Hearing nothing, he decided to go back to sleep. As he closed his eyes, he heard it coming from downstairs : "Get the boy". He opened his eyes and it's quiet. As he starts to relax again again the raspy voice comes much louder : "GET THE BOY". The downstairs door slammed shut. According to the teen, no one slept downstairs and as no doors or windows were open, there should not have been any drafts.
This has been the worst year I've had in 24 years of active field work. Sickness, weather, lockdowns and so on have hindered most plans I had this year. It's been very frustrating.
I call my father every day at 9am without fail. He is more than just my father. He has many roles in the story of my life. Father, big brother and best friend so after moving out of town to an area that is basically a well paved road through the forest I was and still am very happy for him because he's now in his element, completely surrounded by nature.
During one of our morning calls last year he had mentioned that he and his lovely wife had both heard a variety of vocals that neither could explain. We had talked about many of the other possibilities but my father and I have a lot in common, not the least of which is spending our lives in and out of the woods from a very early age.
In other words when he hears something in the woods that he can't identify I tend to take it a little more seriously than some.
There is an "eerie silence prior to the encounter, an appreciable stillness in the woods that commonly surrounds predatory animals."
The Mogollon Monster [named after the region it lives in] is said to be a legendary creature. There are accounts of it coming from central and eastern Arizona and along the Mogollon Rim. Although most often described as a bigfoot or ape-like creature, descriptions vary somewhat.
Mainstream scientists remain skeptical of its existence despite the footprints, videos, and hair samples collected by researchers and enthusiasts.
Some people discard the notion of sasquatch or bigfoot being able to camouflage. It is considered something impossible or supernatural. In other words : Fiction.
But stop and think for a moment. While we as humans manufacture ways to blend in with nature and our surroundings, nature provides a way to blend in for many of those who live outside of paved surfaces.
We have seen the photograph of the giraffe hiding in the stand of trees. And we have heard how zebras and tigers are striped to blend in.
The History of the Ouija Board (Part 3) - The Rules
The internet graciously gives us a set of cautionary rules [guidelines] for using the Ouija Board. Confusion will set in when you try to determine just how many there are and which ones you should follow.
So I looked through all the versions and have compacted them all into just a few.
Unsolved Murder of Pine Mountain School Teacher Lura Parsons (Pt 2)
MOUNTAIN HAINTS Series continues Part Two Of Pine Mountain Schoolteacher Laura Parsons' Murder Dives Into Some Of Harlan County’s Darker History BY: JENNIFER McDANIELS APPALACHIAN JOURNALIST
There is not much known about Lura Parsons, the Pine Mountain Settlement School teacher who was viciously assaulted and murdered on Laden Trail on Sept. 7, 1920. Even though she made headlines throughout the nation, her background is as shadowed as the lone, mountain trail where her body was found. Parsons was bigger in death than she was in life. Perhaps it is because her murder was shrouded in mystery and shady politics, as well as volatile social issues of the day, that her story has grown to be legendary, handed down from mountain family to mountain family. Folk Studies Professor Theresa Osborne said that is how lore and legends are born - because there is always more to the story than what has been officially recorded. The context of historical events is often more interesting, and that is no exception in Pine Mountain’s unsolved Lura Parsons murder case.
A weekend camping produced unusual activity for a couple while camping in Yellowwood State Park in August 2015.
The man and his wife arrived at the park and set up camp on Saturday afternoon, August 8. Afterward, they took a walk around the lake before preparing dinner. They remained sitting by the fire for a while before heading for the camper to sleep.
This creature has a confused and troubled timeline and history. Explanations range from misidentifications to invented stories, to regular animals with mange, to urban legend and to myth.
The first attack by a Chupacabra is said to be in March 1995 when 8 sheep were found dead in Puerto Rico. Each body had three puncture wounds in the chest area and were said to be drained of blood. More stories came from the mountain region of Morovis and Orocovis. Chickens, sheep and goats were being found dead in their pens and enclosures, drained of blood with deep puncture wounds to the neck or chest. Nightly search parties of at least 200 men went out in search of the culprit(s) and to guard the animals. Nothing was found.
Pine Mountain Settlement School teachers often walked over Laden Trail on Pine Mountain.
Unsolved Murder of Pine Mountain School Teacher Lura Parsons
MOUNTAIN HAINTS SERIES Continues
Unsolved murder of Pine Mountain School Teacher Lura Parsons Remains One Of Kentucky's Greatest Mysteries 100 Years Later (This is a two-part story. The second installment will be shared next week.) By: JENNIFER McDANIELS Appalachian Journalist
HARLAN, KY - The shrill whistle of a steaming locomotive pierced the mountain silence 100 years ago on the Poor Fork of the Cumberland River in Harlan County. It was a train carrying Pine Mountain Settlement School teacher Lura Parsons and a prominent and politically aligned Kentucky state assistant veterinarian on board. Although it is claimed the two did not know each other, they were both headed across Pine Mountain to the settlement school when the train stopped at the L & N station in the community of Dillon, which was located near what is now known as Laden, between Putney and Totz On Sept. 7, 1920, Parsons was returning from a vacation break she had spent with her family in Garrard County, Kentucky and the state assistant veterinarian, Dr. C.H Winnes, was traveling to Pine Mountain Settlement School to test cattle for tuberculosis. While the two reportedly did not know each other at the time, both Parsons and Winnes would go down in the annals of Kentucky history as being a part of one of the state’s most horrific, sensationalized, and mysterious murders.
The Ranchita Bigfoot photograph [or Wood Ape] was allegedly taken in September 2011 by an anonymous hiker. It was not presented to the public for almost a year.
The photographer said that he was taking photos in the Ranchito area of southern California. He took a variety of pictures around the area, including two photos of a pile of dead branches. [Some sources claim three photos were taken.] When the ones of the branches were taken, they were thought to have been debris as a result of a flood. There is no photograph presented to show a river or even a dry river bed to support that theory.
The photographer stated that he never saw the head or the creature in the second picture until a year later, when he was going through his photos from the previous year. On September 20, 2012, Mark Anders posted his YouTube video featuring the story and photos.
In part one, we learned that the Ouija Board 'game' came to be after it was discovered being used in Spiritualist camps in Ohio. But where did the device come from? And who first designed it?
"Spirit Rapping" was first used in 1848. Questions were asked out loud and the spirits would answer through rapping, or tapping. It was a long and tedious process as the alphabet was recited until a rap was heard to choose a letter. Then the alphabet was begun again for the next letter. And so on.
Mediums began looking for quicker ways to communicate with the dead. Some of them began printing out the alphabet and numbers on a board or a card. They would then sweep a pencil over it while asking a question and wait for a knock to designate the letter. Some also resorted to "Table Tipping". The medium would have everyone gather around a small to medium-sized table and have them place their hands on it. Eventually, the table would start moving. Questions would be asked and the table would rap out responses to the called-out alphabet.
Answered - Drone Catches Something Powerful Trying To Tear Down Tree
The video of what many, even popular youtubers, claim to be a bigfoot ripping trees out of the ground now has some clarity thanks to the person who was operating the drone. Hint: Its NOT bigfoot.
When I saw the video, I could see there is clear evidence that logging is going on in the area, after all I worked as a logger for a few years. It also appears the video was actually shot a couple years ago, but that is just like armchair researchers to find an innocent video and fool people into thinking it is a bigfoot.
But yet the video has caught fire thanks to social media and the uninformed. Here is a screen shot from the person who was operating the drone as to what it is.
In 1995 two teenage boys appear to have captured a sasquatch on film. If they ever shared the footage to the internet, it is lost in the debris of the information flood.
In November 2012, the video was shared to YouTube on two different channels.
HuntForBigfoot posted the footage with a script crediting the sighting to two teenage boys: Daniel Fearing [age 17] and Michael Troup [age 15]. It also lists the encounter as being in 2005. Most sources mention it being in 1995. It is also sometimes known as The Fering Film.
[HuntForBigfoot video] https://youtu.be/G5XqTa6Oqdc [Sadly since the original posting in 2019, this video appears to no longer be available.]
But Crypto Crew Founder, Thomas Marcum, did a couple of breakdowns of the video. Here is one of them.
But there is much more to this device than most know. Its origins reach back into history -- diving deep into man's desire to reach loved ones who have died or his desire to know what happens when we die.
First, let's take a look at the most recent history of the Ouija Board -- how it became a popular game/psychic tool in the United States.
There is a new book out from Lee Brickley and it is about bigfoot in the UK. We know that over the last few years the idea of bigfoot being in the UK has become more acceptable. At one time the idea was totally dismissed without a seconds thought. There has been a nice uptick over, lets say over the last 10 years, of witnesses coming forward and reporting their sightings or encounters. And interest in the subject has grown.
Brickley's book brings you some of the most compelling and often shocking
encounters with a man-monkey-type creature thought to roam the
Staffordshire woodlands. Brickley began his research into the British
Bigfoot in 2019 after he received a number of sighting reports from the
Cannock Chase forest in England. While his investigation is far from
over, this book offers an insight into the weirdest and most frightening
sightings uncovered so far.
