Hairless Big Cat Sighting Update!
A couple of day ago I made a post about a cougar report that included another brief reference to hairless big cat sightings, well today I can bring you some more information about the sightings. If you missed the original post you can find it by clicking here.
This update was sent to us from the person, Jo, who submitted the cougar sighting to us. So a big thanks to Jo for doing a follow up on this possible new cryptid.
Here is the additional information
Jo, managed to dig back through the forum and find the original post about the hairless big cat sightings.
"Very big hairless cat like something. Ok neighbors. I have a very serious question. I went down to my garage Friday night at about 3am to smoke. As I was sitting there I saw a very very odd creature. It looked to be about the height of our German Shepard, no hair, very long tail and very slender. The reason I say it’s the size of our dog is because after it came from between two houses across the street from our house, it stopped right next to a car and it’s head was even with driver side window. Then it shook its head and it’s ears were so big I could hear it smacking on the sides of its head. Iv seen big hairless cats. This was much bigger. Iv never seen anything like this before. So if someone has a massive hairless cat and this isn’t the chupacabra please let me know. I was so dumb founded and awe struck I did not think of taking a pic or video until it was gone. I know I know that’s pretty convenient but it’s what happened."
Of course some offered opinions and some just thought it was all a joke or something I guess. One person comment that it sounded like a deer, but as far as I know deer to not have long tails as described by the witness. Could this be a hairless cougar? There are several factors that can cause a animal to lose hair. Allergies are a frequent cause of hair loss in dogs. This may due to environmental triggers such as pollen, molds and dust mites. Food allergies could also cause hair loss in animals. But I would think a cougar would not be affected by allergies. But with that said a lack of proper vitamins can lead to hair loss and that might explain why the creature was described a "slender". Alopecia is a disease that causes hair loss in humans and animals. Development of alopecia in animals is usually the sign of an underlying disease. It could also be a genetic defect of some sort. There could be a number of possibilities as to why this animal, what ever it was, is hairless.
The original poster mentions in his post that he spoke with the neighbor and that they seen it too. Well, the neighbor also came to the forum and posted about what they saw.
"I am his neighbor as well! Yes, that is exactly what my husband had seen. It was tall and very skinny with super long legs. It’s eyes were very red and glossy. My husband was putting chlorine in the pool late Thursday or Friday night and he had seen it walking across our yard. It freaked him out because he had a flashlight and shined at it and the thing literally just stared at him. Did not move and seemed fearless! He went upstairs to the porch and looked at it from above and that thing was still staring at him."
Also, please note that while this looks like it came from Facebook, it actually comes from nextdoor.com
So now, thanks to Jo, we have some documentation of these sightings. They took place in or near Independence, KY. Independence is a a city located in Kenton county. It is only about 15 minutes from Cincinnati, OH. Independence is more of a rural area so there could be some habitat for such an animal.
I really don't know what this could of been ...my only guess would be a hairless cougar but that is just a guess. If anyone knows what this creature is or have seen it then please let us know.
Maybe we are dealing with some kind of new cryptid? Maybe it is some kind of hybrid? Maybe just a sick known animal? I really don't know.
Have a great day!
Thanks
~Thomas~
