Mission Point Resort

Some of you may already know that I just returned from a trip from Michigan, Mackinac Island and the Upper Peninsula. The UP was kind of on my bucket list as a place to visit, so it was good to get into that area.

Today, I want to talk about my trip to Mackinac Island and more specifically about the Mission Point Resort.  While I did not actually stay in the resort the history of haunting is intriguing to say the least. The island in general has some creepy history and I hope to share more about it in the coming days.

As for the Mission Point Resort, lets first look at some of it's history. Lets start with the name "Mission Point". In the 1820's , Reverend William Ferry built "Mission House" to house and teach Indian children. A few years later he established "Mission Church". The Southeast end of Mackinac Island became known as "Mission Point".

In 1954 more structures started being built in Mission Point. This included a theater and lodges. It was completed in 1957 and later in 1958 a movie sound stage was added. In 1979 that very sound stage was used to film the motion picture "Somewhere in Time" starring Christopher Reeve.

There was an old Indian prophecy that stated the following "Someday, on the east end of the Island, a great tepee will be erected. All nations will come there and learn about peace."  Oddly enough, the Main Lobby is one of the most distinctive architectural structures on the Island. Nine-ton majestic trusses, converging at a height of 36 feet, resemble a 16-sided tepee.

Another little bit of  interesting history, is that in 1970 the famous evangelist Rex Humbard purchased this structure. In 1977 Humbard sold the property and over the years it had some name changes. Over the years it was sold a few more times and the name was changed back to one the more accurately represented the history.

Now, what about the hauntings? Well, first you need to know that there is a cemetery on the island and it was relocated. The funny thing is, once it was all moved they had 3 or 4 more headstones than relocated graves. It was too late to find the missing bodies as structures were already being built in the former location of the graves. While this is not the exact area The Mission Point Resort is at, it still lends to the idea that disgruntled spirits could be on the island.  Then their is the story of Harvey. Harvey supposedly killed himself after being rejected by his then girlfriend and reports of him being seen on the island have followed. Plus there is several more stories and more somewhat dark history to the island.

The popular TV show "Ghost Hunters" also did a show on The Mission Point Resort. The original air date was 3/30/11, season 7 and carried the title "Frozen in Fear".  I have embedded the show for your viewing pleasure and it was one of the better shows from the ghost hunting gang. Check it out.


I enjoyed my trip to Mackinac Island and find the "interesting" history intriguing. I hope to share more about the island, it's dark history and my brief time there in some upcoming posts.

General area of event

I got in a Bigfoot report from my friend Tye. She is a Bigfoot researcher and outdoorswoman in the Iowa area. Here is her report.

Describe sighting in detail:

It was about 10:30 pm, I was sitting at the Des Moines river on the ledge right at the water, when I heard a rock being thrown in, and a second later I heard another kaboosh , and then a third. I turned my head to look and there was this huge hairy, looked like a man but bigger, thing standing there. It was so big it blocked out a light on the water from a distant house. When it saw me look it ducked down in the reeds, it stood back up and by then I was standing up looking closer, it then ducked down again. A car happened to pull in the boat dock and when I looked at it and looked back to the creature it was gone.

I thought I saw it take off way down river towards the dark, now Corey was standing some distance behind me, which I was unaware of, and he saw nothing of the creature. I wasn't sure what it was until Corey showed me a picture of a Missouri Momo , and I was shocked , that is exactly what I saw. I did not see any face because of the matted hair. It had very wide shoulders and I only saw from chest on up. Momo is very real and was here in southeast Iowa in Bonaparte that night. About 2 or 3 weeks later I Saw glowing orange eyes down river when we were squatchin, I don't know if it was Momo but my fear level Was off the charts. It seems that it has vanished and I haven't had that level of fear since then.

Momo is the name of a local legend, similar to the Bigfoot, which is reported to live in Missouri. The name Momo is short for 'Missouri Monster' and it is reported to have a large, pumpkin-shaped head, with a furry body, and hair covering the eyes. The Momo was first reported in July 1971. I can remember back a couple years ago, watching the videos of these strange sounds from the sky. It was pretty fascinating for a while. Over the last few years there has been much speculation over what these sounds actually are and some always pointed to the end of time. Over time I grew very suspicious about these sounds and thought that it all was most likely nothing more than hoaxes. I never really took the time to do a lot of research into these strange sounds videos but there is a guy who did.

His name is Chris White and he has made a very interesting video about these sounds. After watching his video it is clear that many of these "sounds" videos are nothing more than hoaxes.

The video by Chris White is very good and he did a good job debunking several of the videos. I know many will still claim the sounds are real and who knows maybe there is a real video out there somewhere, but it is clear the same sound is used over and over.

The paranormal field is full of hoaxes and hoaxers, many do it for attention and money. After all, we live in a time where views and clicks are a big part of our online activities, some go to extremes to get the views. This type of thing is something we see very often in the Bigfoot community. It can become frustrating and it has an overall negative effect on the field. It seems people are so easily fooled. They want to see a Bigfoot, UFO, or ghost so bad that they will latch onto any video or claim without checking out the source. Often times, it's the same ol people pushing these fake videos.

My advice is to be careful, be skeptical, check out the source, avoid the people and sites that keep pushing fake videos. Find honest researchers and put your support behind them because they are the ones who need it and deserve it.

I got in a report of a Thunderbird sighting. This is the first one I have got in a long time. By reading over the report I think it is safe to assume that this has never been reported until now.

I saw on your map this "thunderbird" sighting and it took me back to a day of bird hunting long ago. Myself, my now ex husband, and our Brittany, Scout had gotten an early start to a beautiful day of quail and pheasant hunting. It was mid day and we were on the long trek back to the truck when we heard Scout just going nuts. He was a very calm and professional bird dog and we ran as fast as we could because we were very concerned. Holy crap.
We couldn't believe our eyes and to this day I still can't quite believe what we saw. A huge, monstrous dark gray bird apparently stuck in the mud with it's wings just flailing violently. Scout was lunging at it as if he'd hit the jackpot. That bird was at least 20 foot from tip of wing to tip of wing. I was young at the time and my husband simply explained to me that hawks could get very huge. I told a few people about it and they simply told me that I must be mistaken, that no bird gets that big. I know what I saw that day. I'll never forget it. I had never heard of this "thunderbird" until I saw your map and read about the sighting in Nebraska in 1990. The area we were hunting that day is close to the NE southern border. Thank you for your web site. I now know that I'm not crazy and that I really DID see what I know I saw.

I got a report from some of my family a few days ago. I had known about their finding for a while now but they want to make it official now with a report.

The report comes from Jim and Vickie, I will only use their first names but I'm sure anyone who lives around here will know who they are. This finding happened about 2 years ago.

Jim and Vickie like to go 4 wheeler riding, sometimes they go on night rides. One evening after a good rain the couple decided to take a ride on the ATV.

"It was the edge of dark, we like going on night rides and it had just rained. We was riding and I was driving, so wasn't going fast, I looked down and saw a footprint and stopped and backed up" Vickie said.

Vickie continued "I thought it strange someone being barefoot so recent and up in the mountains. When we saw it and started to examine it we realized it wasn't human, yet it favored human toes but bigger. But the toes were different, had odd number and we new it wasn't human. We got freaked and I took out of there. We will never forget it!"

 At this point in our conversation and after realizing that the track had something unusual about it's toes; I told Vickie about the 4 toed casting I have that came from Oregon. This is when Vickie said "Jim said this print had 3 (toes)."  As some of you may know there are many reports of 3 toed tracks being found, I relayed this bit of information to Vickie. Her reply was "WOW!"  

She went on "We couldn't find the second print but the mud turned into grass, the print was close to the middle of the road but it was at least 4 foot from road to grass! It was also a deep print. We left because it was so fresh."  She proceeded to tell me the exact location of the track but I will not disclose that information other than to say it was in Harlan county, Kentucky. Vickie also said "I know I had the weirdest feeling" in reference to finding the fresh track.

I myself know and many others, that same odd and often times scary feeling you get when you encounter a Bigfoot.

I ask how big the track was and Vickie said "Jim put his foot down beside it and it was couple inches longer than his and he has a size 14 boot. The toes were deeper than the heel of the foot, we figured it was running and it was only about 5/6 inches in the middle but it did have a slight curve to the insole."

Unfortunately, the couple did not have a camera with them that night. But after this finding of the track they rarely go our without one.

I would also like to add, that this is very close to at least one if not two reported sightings. So, the chances of this track being a Bigfoot track are real good.

I wonder sometimes about the 3 and 4 toed tracks that are found. Is it just a case of toe overlapping or did some of the toes just not make an impression? Maybe the easiest answer is that they only had 3 or 4 toes. I really don't know, I guess that is just another part of the mystery of Bigfoot.

I got a report in last night and have been following up on it today. This possible finding of multiple tracks was send in my John. I will not use his last name to protect his privacy. 


John and his 8 year old son was out fishing on 5/24/15. They were in Louisville, Kentucky fishing along the Ohio river. They were fishing near Shawnee park. This is a heavily populated area but if you were to cross the river there is a lot of forest land. Here is a map of the area.

I got this report in a few days ago. It is a good one and I think in the right situation I would also run after a Bigfoot, all the while trying to get a better video of it.

I have had more than  one encounter as I call it. The best was in 1986. I had just got out of the Marine corp.  I was 22 yrs old in top condition. My uncle asked me if I would like to go elk hunting.I never turn down a chance to go hunting. There was six people in our hunting party.We split into two-man teams and all agreed to meet back at camp at 5:00 pm. My cousin and I decided to hunt up one of the ridges on the far side of the meadow. My uncle and another hunter went on the ridge one over from us.

We didn't have any luck seeing any game.Two groups met up at the meadow and talked about hunting back to camp by going through another draw. As we were walking through the brush, we came across a log structure. At first I thought it was just a slash pile loggers left behind after cutting trees down. My mind was focused on finding elk. Not log piles. My uncle said, "Look at these logs! They have not been cut by man." I said,"So?" He replied,"No saw marks... no ax marks, and no hatchet marks." Then my uncle said, "Where's the tree stumps for these logs?" We looked around. The closest stump was fifty yards away.

This log structure stood about eight feet high and thirty feet around. The logs that were in the pile were green, Not dried out and were 6 to 8 inches around and ten to twenty feet long. There was a two foot opening at one end. No one wanted to be brave and crawl into and look around.

My uncle said, "Do you smell that?" It was a musky smell. I thought to myself, What died ?!? Shortly after the smell I thought I heard a woodpecker, and my uncle said, "That's NOT a woodpecker."I said, "What?" My uncle replied, "That's rocks being slapped together!" An eerie feeling came over me and the rest of the hunters. It was like we were being watched. We decided that we would back out of the area and go to camp an easier way.

When we got back to camp, we told the other hunters what we had stumbled across in the middle of no where. After we got a bite to eat we decided to play cards inside our sheepherder tent. It must have been around 10:00 pm when my uncle said, "Hey! Quiet!" We all calmed down to list. We could not hear anything. It was very quiet... nothing moving and no breeze. So we went back to playing cards. I thought it was my uncle trying to play a trick or cheat at the card game. Five minutes went by and my uncle again said "Quiet!" This time he said "look!" as he pointed to the lantern that was hanging from the center of the tent. It started to sway, and before we knew what was happening, the tent collapsed on everyone!

I remember that my uncle was the closest to the tent door. He opened it and started yelling for us to come out as fast as we could. It was dark, and we all were grabbing for flashlights and weapons. I grabbed a flashlight and a hunting knife. One by one we exited the tent. My uncle told us to all spread out. He said that we need to find out what made the tent come down.I stepped around to the back of the tent and listed. I heard something walking through the brush. It sounded like someone walking through dry leaves. Stepping around the tree that was in front of me, I hoped that I would see what ever it was that was making the noise . I flashed my light around and saw nothing.  My cousin walked up behind me and placed his hand on my shoulder and asked in a soft voice, "Whats that in front of you?" I asked, "Where?" He quickly grabbed my arm with the hand that had been on my shoulder an said, "Don't move your flashlight!" He reached around me with his flashlight and waved it at the area that I had my flashlight pointed at. He said, "Here!" When he did that, the creature took two steps sideways.

My cousin said, "What is that?" I replied, "I don't know!" My cousin exclaimed, "That's not fur, it's hair!" What we were looking at appeared to stand seven to eight feet tall. It walked on two legs, and the weight looked to be 600 to 800 pounds. It was a rust color. What came to my mind was a very large man in a ghillie suit. This thing was thirty feet in front of me. This all took place in about fifteen seconds. As we stood talking about it, it dropped to all fours and started to run away from us like a gorilla. My cousin said, "Let's get a better look at it!" So we started to chase it down an old abandoned logging road that led down hill toward the meadow.

The moon was full that night with no wind at all. I felt like I was in a cross-country race, and the race was in my favor because it was going down hill. I used to be able to run the mile 4:30. The closer I got to this thing, the thought in my mind was, What do I do now?!? I got close enough to it as if it were a quarterback on a football field that I could have tackled or jumped on its back. I couldn't see the face through all the hair I did see the hand and fingers. It had a flat back. I could see the triceps and biceps as they flexed. I tried to hear if it was tiring from running, but it was not panting.

My cousin could not keep up, and he started yelling, "STOP! STOP!" I yelled back,"WHY?" He said, "STOP" again, so I broke off the chase. I kept my flashlight pointed in the direction Bigfoot was heading. My cousin finally caught up with me and said, "Listen!" I said, "What?" He said, "Do you hear anything?" I told him no, he said, "You should! We should hear something running. That means it's just stand outside of the range of the flashlights!" I asked him, "Why did you yell "STOP!"? "Think about it!" he answered. Wolves trick domestic dogs into the woods away from their home, where the rest of the pack will pounce!" An eerie feeling came over me. I suggested that maybe we should head back to camp.

Once back at camp everyone wanted to know what we had gone chasing after. No one else in camp saw it, but they did say they heard something big running. They also told us that the reason the tent came down was that two of the corner stakes on the outside of the tent were pulled up. These stakes were metal and were pounded into the ground with a ax! Since that time I have been back to the area half a dozen times. I have seen fourteen-inch tracks. I've heard more rock-knocking and one night I heard some good vocals from two different location at the same time. I feel that I know how to get them all worked up if they are in the area. One of these times my son and I knew that the closest person to us was at least twenty miles away. It doesn't leave a lot to your imagination on what's making the noise. They are big and hairy. I've been chased out of the area twice now. I still want to go back, but I will not go alone!!

Shad Bay area

 I just got in another report from Canada. The report is several years old but it was a very up close sighting. Here is the report.

It was a very clear moonlit night and I was driving home from work in Shad bay area. As I started up a hill I noticed a fur tree on the side of the road shake. And out of the woods came some kind of animal that was very tall standing on two legs.

In a matter for 2 seconds it walked out onto the road in front of my car and i slammed on the breaks with it inches from my bumper.

It had to be at least 8 feet tall and had reddish brown fur or hair. It looked right at me and I froze still and couldn't believe what I was seeing. The greenish glow of the eyes seemed to pierce right threw me.

It looked very muscular, almost like a  horse would with a long coat. This all happened in a matter of seconds and another car coming from the opposite direction stopped immediately after coming over the hill and the creature took a few strides and was gone.

The couple in the other car pulled up along side mine and said "what the f**k was that. I was still in shock and barley could get a word out. We talked from a brief minute but I just wanted to get home.

This happened only a few minutes from my house and to this day I will not go outside by myself at nigh and thinking of this still makes my hair stand on end! I have heard others have seen something like this around the area before.

The mythic creature Leshy, also sometimes call the Wood Demon, is based on Slavic Mythology.
Leshy, sometime called wild man, is said to be a woodland spirit and a protector of animals and the forest.

Leshy is often described as a tall creature that can shape shift. He is said to have a beard made out of living grass and vines. In some description, the Leshy has a tail, horns and hoofed feet. Some say he carries a wooden club and is the lord of the forest.

The over all appearance of the Leshy is that of a man, but with a more pointy head and a few other oddities. It is said that the Leshy likes to play tricks on people in the forest and confuse travelers.  The legend says that you may hear the Leshy laughing, singing or whistling while you are in the woods. But be careful, if angered the Leshy can become very dangerous.

There are many other descriptions and behaviors for the Leshy, even one where he has blue skin. The Leshy is always male and in some tellings he has a wife and children.

From all the different descriptions and the wide range of behavior, it appears the Leshy is kind of a free flowing legend. A legend that can adapt and change when needed to fit the scenario.

In my brief research of the Leshy, it seems to also have some of the same characteristic and roots as the United Kingdom's Woodwose.

Some tie and connect the Leshy to  Bigfoot which I guess seems fitting, as Bigfoot is often called the wild man of the forest.

Massive UFO cluster - Photo by Chris Light.

You may need to click on the above photo to see it better, but there are at least 33 objects and the mysterious black spot in the middle, in this photo.

This was taken a few days ago by our friend Christ Light. He witnessed this large cluster of UFOs and then several more unusual objects. He also witness some known objects, such as fighter jet speeding towards these unknown objects.





Does this object look familiar ? This looks very much like the reported UFO seen in 1965 Kecksburg, PA UFO report. Has it made a reappearance after all this time? Yes, this object was moving. Chris stated it was sitting still for a little while and then moved. If I recall correctly, Chris told me the object flew straight up and out of sight.






 





What is this object? It appears to have a smaller middle section joining the 2 halves. Why was all this activity taking place at that same time?











What about this object? It does not appear to be any type of known aircraft.

This total event lasted near 90 minutes, with many different and unknown aircraft.  Later that night there was also some strange lights in the night sky but it seems the bulk of the activity took place that evening.

Chris has photoed and filmed many strange and unusual objects over the last few years.







There was also some more interesting events today. There was a strong military air present in this exact spot. Chris was able to take several photos of that as well. I will only post this one photo from today, but there are several more.

During the UFO event from a few days before there were also many more photos taken and of different unknown craft. But one of the strangest things was the opening of a black hole. A black hole in which some craft came out of. If you notice in the very top picture there is a black spot in the center of it.

Now, all of this happened near Kingsport, Tennessee. The unknown object photos are clearly not military aircraft, at least anything I or Chris have ever seen. We also talked about the G-forces ... humans can only take so much and some of these things were moving at incredible speeds.

I spoke with Chris on the phone and there are many more details of what he seen and what went on, it is truly amazing. It really has an alien feel to it. 

Now, I wonder if anyone else in the area witnessed any of this event? If so, I urge you to contact me immediately!

A very big thanks to Chris and his watch of the sky. Stuff like this makes me wonder just how many times things have been flying over my head and I never even noticed it. Over the years I have personally witnessed several UFOs but nothing as massive as this event. 


I will do my best to update if any thing more happens.

My daughter and I went outside to smoke and we heard something like we never heard before. We really didn't know what it was. We just looked at each other and said did you hear that and we heard it again.

The blood in my body ran cold. I wanted to call the police fearing someone up in the woods was hurt, but being new to the area was afraid they would think I was crazy. Still to this day I pray no one was up there.

Anyways we just stood there trying to figure out what we heard. I text my other daughter and told her to make sure all her doors and windows were locked. Oh course it being April fools day she thought we were playing.

The next morning we informed our neighbors and come to our surprise one of them had heard it to . He told us they went for a walk in the woods earlier that day 4-1-15 and he dropped his knife and went back later that evening to look for it and heard what he said may have been a coyote. At this point what I heard was not a coyote. this sound was something I could never forget. Last night I was watching - for the first time a show called Mountain Monsters.

Now during that show they were in Washington county pa. they caught on tape the same sound I heard that night on 4-1-15.

Truth be told I'm 99.9% afraid to go outside now because there is no doubt in my mind that what I heard was a Bigfoot or dustman. On 4-2-15 I went down to my daughters to explain it was no April fools joke. She knew in my face what I had told her was true. I still get choked up about it, remembering and hoping no one was up there.

Later that day my daughter informs me that her neighbor lady heard something horrifying too. See now I really had wished I would have call the police. But here I am now letting you all know.
Please help. Just come and look in the woods were we heard the sound. Thanks  sincerely Brenda

Unfortunately, this area is over 260 miles away from me in one direction and I don't have a team member close to the area. So, I can't come to the area and check it out. I do know that West Virginia is a very good location for Bigfoot and that there has been many reports from there.

I would like to encourage Brenda to attempt to get a sound recording of these unknown howls. Maybe, then we can rules out some different animals and maybe see if this indeed could be a Bigfoot.

A few days ago I received an interesting email. It was about animal communicators and the email stated that the sender had had "some heartwarming and amazing experiences communicating with various species of animals by way of animal communicators".

She also ask me the question "Has anyone ever tried to establish communication with
bigfeet people by way of an animal communicator who has a proven track record?"

Well, to be honest I had never really thought about the use of a animal communicator in an attempt to communicate with Bigfoot. I do know that some make claims that Bigfoot can "Mind speak" but this is something I have never experienced.

So, as I was thinking about the possibilities, some things started to come to my mind about the whole idea of using an animal communicator.

I guess the first thing would be for the animal communicator to team up with one of the people who have been habituating with Bigfoot for many years. I think this would increase the chances of the forest people being around and if there was already a relationship, it would make the whole process easier.

I know of several people who claim to have a habituation relationship with groups of Bigfoot. I don't know if they would be interested in an animal communicator or not.

For those who might not be familiar with animal communicators here is a very basic definition.

Animal Communication is a form of intuitive or telepathic communication, a non-verbal language with animals.

Some communicators claim that we are all basically born with this ability but most fail to learn to use it.

During my email exchange I was send a website which is basically a directory of animal communicators. As I looked it over I noticed that there are basically communicators spread all over the United States. There are even listings for many other countries as well. I also noticed a lot of the communicators has been doing this service many many years and even offer to communicate with dead pets.

Now, I'll be first to admit I don't know much about this type of service or ability but have heard about it in days gone by.

So, I guess my questions for the readers would be:

1. Do you think this type of thing would work with Bigfoot?

2. Have you ever used a animal communicator, and if so what was the results?
3. Would any of the Bigfoot habituators be interested in trying an animal communicator?
