Are Bigfoot dying off?
Bigfoot Going Extinct?

The other night several of us were engaged in a conversation on Facebook about stick structures and whether or not Bigfoot makes them. Of course, most researchers who have done any research or investigated a real Bigfoot sighting will tell you that Bigfoot does in fact make stick formations, but of course not every broken limb or arch is created by a Bigfoot.

But this short article is not about stick formations but about the population of Bigfoot.

During our conversation about stick formations, one person made a statement to the effect that Bigfoot was dying out and the population was dwindling down. He went on to say that there are NO Bigfoot in the woods in his part of Ohio. He even said you would need hundreds of Bigfoot in an area to have a good breeding population.

Area 51
Area 51 has remained a mysterious place for many years now, with the government only in recent years acknowledging it's existence. The first public photo of  Area 51 was from a Soviet satellite photograph that was published in 1988 by Popular Science magazine.

The idea of extraterrestrials and crashed alien spaceships have long been rumored to be at this super secret base. Strange lights and crafts in the night sky have only fueled the idea of UFOs at the base.

But over the years there has been several military achievements that came from Area 51.
Lets look at a few:

- U-2 Spy Plane: This plane can fly at altitudes of 70,000 feet. It was/is used to spy on foreign countries. The U-2, nicknamed "Dragon Lady", was introduced in 1957 and provided intelligence in all weather conditionals. Early versions of the U-2 were involved in several events through the Cold War, being flown over the Soviet Union, China,Vietnam, and Cuba. The U-2 is currently still listed as in service.

- A-12 OXCART: A wide, disc-like fuselage made of shiny titanium with speeds close to Mach 3 (2,300 miles per hour). The shape of the aircraft led many who seen it to think it was a UFO. The A-12 was introduced in 1967 but retired in 1968. It is currently listed as retired but there is a variant of the craft, the YF-12. The A-12 was basically developed into the SR-71 Blackbird .

- SR-71 Blackbird: The Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird" is a long-range, Mach 3+ strategic reconnaissance aircraft that was operated by the United States Air Force. It was developed as a black project from the Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance aircraft in the 1960s by Lockheed and its Skunk Works division. The SR-71 was introduced in 1966 and retired in 1998. It could fly at altitudes of 90,000 feet and it basically out raced any threats from missile.

With the above listed aircraft and the advances of flight one might ask "how did we make such a big leap in a short time?"

This seemingly big leap in technology creates even more speculation about UFOs and the reverse engineering claims made by former Area 51 employee Robert Lazar.

So, could there be alien spacecraft and dead aliens in Area 51?

We may never know the full truth to that question, but one thing for sure, the speculation will continue and investigators will continue to look for clues as to what is really going on in Area 51.

Thanks

1947 Roswell Crash Timeline

While this may be of no interest to some people, I find the Roswell crash noteworthy, if nothing else for the secrecy that surrounds it.

So I wanted to share the Roswell timeline and some other things about the event. For years this mystery has continued to draw interest from the general public and numerous investigators.

The book Witness to Roswell is considered to be the closes thing to the actual truth that we will ever know. I hope to add it to my collection at some point.

- Roswell Timeline -

- July 4, 1947, at about 11:50pm
Mac Brazel, rancher on the Foster ranch (75 miles NW of Roswell), heard a loud noise, different from thunder.
Two nuns at St. Mary's Hospital in Roswell saw what they believed was an airplane crash. The tower at the base tracked and reported a "descending flash" that they tracked on radar.

- July 5
Brazel was routinely riding/working the ranch property with his neighbor's son Dee Proctor ( age 7) and discovered the debris field 300 hundred yards wide and 3/4 of a mile long. He picked up a sackful of the "stuff."

- July 6
Brazel takes his sackful of stuff to Sheriff Wilcox in Roswell. Wilcox calls Intelligence Officer Jesse Marcel at the base and Marcel comes into town to investigate. Marcel decides to follow Brazel back to the ranch and they stay in a cabin that night.

- July 7
Brazel and Marcel investigate the debris site on the ranch. Marcel stops at his house and shows his son (age 11, Jesse Jr.) some of the stuff. Marcel shows the stuff to his boss, Col. Blanchard.
Glenn Dennis gets a call from RAAF about the number of child-size caskets he has in stock, and when could he get more; the base also called other times on how to preserve bodies that had been exposed to the weather - strictly for future reference. Glenn Dennis took an airman who had been riding on a motorcycle and hit a cattle truck to the base hospital and saw strange stuff in the back of ambulances.
Glenn went into the hospital and saw his nurse friend who said to get out of there immediately. He was escorted out of there by the military, with threats to his life.

- July 8
Col. Blanchard, head of RAAF (Roswell Army Airfield), told his PR officer, Lt. Walter Haut, to issue the press release (2 pm) about the UFO recovery. The military philosophy was to inform the public that the craft was not there anymore so the public would not attempt to explore the Brazel site.
Marcel takes some of the debris to Ft. Worth to Gen. Ramey. Ramey spreads the debris on the floor of his office, tells Marcel to step out of the room for something, and when Marcel returns, the debris has been replaced with weather balloon debris. Ramey tell Marcel not to speak and the disclaimer photo is shot (4 pm, for the July 9 newspapers).
During the period of July 9-12, Brazel is held by the military so they could "inspire" him to modify his story to that of a crashed weather balloon. Brazel died remaining silent on this event.
Glenn Dennis met the nurse (per appointment) and she drew what she saw - big eyed alien - on the examining table; she was taking notes. She was transferred the next day to England and was declared dead soon after that (by the military).

- July 9
Gen. Ramey issues a press release to the AP that the saucer story is just a weather balloon. "Pappy" Henderson, pilot, flies the alien bodies (that he saw) from RAAF to 1. Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH or 2. Denver, CO or 3. Ft. Worth Tx.

- End Roswell Timeline -

Over the years the mystery of what really happened in Roswell on July 7, 1947 has spawned many books, TV episodes, several movies, and some documentaries.

The documentary Alien Autopsy: Fact or Fiction which was hosted by Jonathan Frakes, really got people debating the footage of the supposed alien and the crash in general. In that documentary, there was an alien being autopsied and it was supposedly the real deal and found footage. I can remember when this was being hyped and everyone was busting at the seams wanting to watch it. I can remember watching it back then and over the years I have watched it many other times.

In 2011 a movie was released titled Alien Autopsy and it had the star power of Bill Pullman. It supposedly was based on the true events of the real Alien Autopsy footage and the two guys who found it. To me, the film more or less played as a parody but was somewhat intriguing.

As the years rolled by, I was satisfied in my mind that something unusual happened in Roswell and that there were efforts to cover it up.

I even read recently that there is now some more possible photographs that have surfaced from the Roswell crash.

In the end, we may never know the full story of what happened in Roswell but at least people are still digging and looking for answers.

Thanks
~Tom~

Does this photo show a gorilla type creature?

I got the follow report, along with the above photo submitted to me on April 1st. The photo was sent later that day. Please read after the report to see our conclusion about the photo.

- Start Report -

Name: Karla
Email Address: on file
State: UK
County: Manchester
Date of Sighting:
Time of Day:
Nearest Town: Salford
Length of Sighting:
How many Witnesses:
Any Photos/Videos: yes
Describe sighting in detail:
Dear whom it may concern. I was recently clearing out a cupboard of my mother in law and it contained lots of old pictures and stuff. Well we came across an odd picture in an envelope with just the world gorilla written on it.
We looked at the picture and it is old and has the words oakwood park 1937 written on it in black ink. It is an old picture and shows a park local to our area called Oakwood in Manchester. Its hard to see but there is an animal on it that looks like an ape.
Do you think this could have escaped? I know you lot are into these weird animals and bigfoots so thought you may be interested in seeing this picture. It is very odd.

- End Report -

When I had initially gotten the report (without the photo) it sounded as if it had some real potential.
I ask if they could send me a copy of the photo via email or message and they quickly did.

Once I got the photo and looked at it I felt as if the photo itself was a fake and this report was nothing more that an attempt at an Aprils Fools joke.

But giving the benefit of the doubt I took the photo and conducted some test on it. I did not stop there as I also let team member Greg Champy have a go at it.

Greg pointed out how the writing looked more like a font instead of actual ink writing. This was also what I thought but I did not tell Greg, as I wanted him to come to his on conclusion.

Here is a zoom on the writing.
Greg has this to say:
"From the bottom of the first a...a line drawn beneath the second at the same intersection creates a font baseline. The k's are exactly alike and overhang the baseline exactly the same."

Greg went on to say: " The writing has to be a font because the a, k, and o are exactly the same. Nobody writes that precisely."

Myself and Greg also wondered if the picture itself could be a still frame from some old movie.

In the end we both reached the same conclusion that this photo was a fake and possibly some type of photoshop.  As for the picture looking old, there are several filters that can be applied to photos to make them look old.

In my opinion, I think this report was most likely submitted in an attempt to get me to post what amounts to an Aprils Fools joke. I guess they thought I would just run with it. Then again maybe the report is true but the photo they found was some sort of joke or the zoo was in town that day.

Sadly for us in the cryptozoology field we face this type of thing almost on a daily basis. Its even worse on April 1st.

I'm not trying to be rude towards Karla, as she could be telling her part honestly and just be looking for answers, but the photo is most likely a forgery and that just raises a red flag.

Thanks
~Tom~

Possible map of sighting area
I got the following report in a couple days ago. I can not consider this a Bigfoot type creature by the way it was described as it really seems unusual. I have just made an educated guess with the map image at the top of the post based on the report. The little green area is called Riverside Park, to the left is the Missouri River.

If anyone has seen the type of creature reported in this report then please let us know.

Here is the report.

- Start Report -

Name: Matthew

Email Address: On File

State: Iowa

County:

Date of Sighting: Summer of 2012 Once in the beginning then the end.

Time of Day: Mid Afternoon

Nearest Town: Council Bluffs

Length of Sighting: Around 5 seconds

How many Witnesses: 1

Any Photos/Videos: None

Describe sighting in detail:

On a hike with my mother and father near a lake called "River Side" Right next to the Missouri river. We were walking along a trail in the forest when I heard movement in the tall grass. It was a dry summer so the grass was very yellowish brown and probably dead.

When I looked over I saw this creature, it was all black with what looked like a mane with a face like a ant eater but thicker with no mouth or nose.

I have no idea what it was but later that summer when I went to the same spot I found these tracks that look like hoof tracks about 4 inches thick but it's as if it was left by something that walked on 2 legs.

What ever it was I never would have thought up anything like it.

- End Report -

As you can see by the description give of the creature it is something unusual.
It is like nothing I have ever heard of or seen. I have attempted to ask some questions about the sighting but as of yet have not received a reply.

If anyone can confirm that they have also seen a similar type creature, please let us know.

Thanks
~Tom~

ol' Stumpy is Fishing For Bigfoot
 Fishing For Bigfoot

I originally had this post titled "Bigfoot Ramblings" but after thinking about it, "Fishing For Bigfoot" is such a more appropriate title. I think you will agree by the end of the article.

A few days ago TCC team member Dorraine Fisher presented an article entitled Researchers, Trolls, and Armchairs. It was a fantastic write-up and it got me to thinking about the current field of Bigfoot researchers in general.

First, let me say there are some really good honest, and knowledgeable researchers out there. Ones that really try hard and that are a credit to the field. These researchers seem to be rare and most seem to be a little more low-key than others in the Bigfoot field. Some of these researchers have never had a personal sighting or encounter but yet they deal with the subject of Bigfoot in a professional and logical manner. They normally are not quick to jump on board with every picture presented as being a Bigfoot and fight you tooth and nail as to it being real. In many cases, they are open to it being real but understand there is a need to find out more about it.

Baby Bigfoot?

Baby Bigfoot Discovered in Patterson Film?

There seems to be a rather amazing discovery of a baby Bigfoot in the famous Patterson-Gimlin film.
It has caused a pretty good stir. So I decided to look into it more. As most of you know the Patterson film, which most just call Patty, has been analyzed and debated for over 40 years.

Could this have been there in our faces all this time but finally someone with a good eye caught it?

Check out this short video I made.
A young me and my coon dog Sam. He was a good dog.

My First Bigfoot Encounter

Well, I've been putting this off for years but I finally decided to share my very first encounter with a Bigfoot. I have never told this publicly or in any great detail but here it is now. The story in the video is 100 percent true. What I have done is just set my camera up and told what happen to me and my dad one night while out coon hunting.

I know this will open me up to a lot of criticism not necessarily because of the event but because of my speech. Some people act as if they have never heard a person from Kentucky talk before or something.  So for those who will make hateful comments, I'll go ahead and concede that yes I talk funny and Yes I look like an ogre ...so no need to tell me, I've heard it all before.

Well, in any event ...here is the video and I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks
~Tom~

Just who is looking for Bigfoot?

Researchers, Trolls, and Armchairs
Who Makes The Biggest Contributions To Bigfoot Research?
By Dorraine Fisher

I was recently involved in a friendly debate about the term “armchair researchers.”  Just what do we mean if we use the term?  It seems there’s more than one definition.   And it begs the question of who actually makes a contribution to real bigfoot research and who doesn’t.  Who should get the credit for the advancement of the subject and who should not?

First, in order to do bigfoot research, you don’t have to be a scientist.  Some knowledge of science is helpful, but certainly not mandatory. But we always want to acknowledge all our scientists in the field who have chosen to tackle such a controversial subject and also help give more legitimacy to the subject with their hard work. And they’ve chosen to do that work in a scientific climate that is less than enthusiastic.  You are greatly appreciated for what you do here.

But we owe a huge debt to all the non-scientists who have spent countless painstaking hours combing the woods, cataloging findings, searching for evidence, building trust, and learning everything they can in ground zero, often with very limited resources and funding.  It’s a lot like looking for a needle in a haystack sometimes, but they do it.  And a lot of our greatest knowledge has come from findings from researchers who aren’t scientists.

But are these the only ones who make a contribution to bigfoot research?  I think not.
Let’s keep in mind the hundreds of researchers who would love to comb the woods and do that kind of research but are unable for some reason. Health reasons may be a factor, or they may not be able to travel to the rural areas for some reason, or maybe they simply are interested, but don’t live in an area or country where bigfoot is thought to exist.

These people, from their desks and chairs at home, study their subject diligently. They  watch the field research of others, they watch documentaries, they join in discussions , and they also may examine the evidence and offer intelligent theories and ideas of their own.  And they offer support and encouragement to those in the field who sometimes may feel that a lot of what they do is in vain.  They ask questions, they learn, and they do what they can. Are they any less significant?  No. That is a contribution. Their work and support means something.

Out in the field, it’s sometimes easy to stop seeing the forest for the trees.  And sometimes outside opinions coming from a different perspective are helpful in bending public perception and opening up minds.  Not always, but sometimes.

And let’s also not forget those people who write blogs and articles on the subject. I’ve been called an armchair researcher because I’m a writer on the subject.  What about all those people who write books, create documentaries, and do regular radio shows on the subject? Are they armchair researchers too?

No they aren’t. They make a huge contribution. They give a voice to all those people who may not have had one otherwise. They help convey all the sightings stories, evidence, and theories that all add up to the big picture of the existence of bigfoot; stories that need to be heard and wouldn’t be heard without being given a forum to do so.

And then there are the skeptics. Yes, they make a contribution too. Most true skeptics are very knowledgeable on the subject and always aim for sound logic and reasoning in the subject of bigfoot. They keep researchers sharp. They ask the pertinent questions and they keep the rest of us on our toes trying to answer them.  Even though there are disagreements, the other side of the argument is always important too.

So then… just exactly who are these “armchair researchers?”

The term “armchair researcher” has become a somewhat sarcastic term for those in the community often referred to as “trolls.”  And most researchers agree these are the individuals in the community who make absolutely no contribution to the research, but spend a great deal of time interrogating and criticizing those that do.

But nobody has worked harder to define the terms than Ohio researcher and crypto artist Dan Baker,  a self-described “disabled field researcher.” Dan is a field researcher with disabilities that sometimes prevent him from doing everything he’d like to do in the field. But he also strongly acknowledges the contribution of those researchers who are completely disabled and do all their good work from their homes.

But here is how he defined the terms:

1) Disabled researcher - Any person who does not have the physical capability to go out into the field and conduct research, but spends a great deal of time reading and studying journals and books, and researching online; a person who constructively uses their knowledge to further educate others.

2) Armchair researcher / Troll - Any person who has the physical capability to go into the field.  However, they choose to sit behind a computer and ridicule both disabled researchers and healthy field researchers alike; the demanding people who have no facts to back up their claims but demand facts from others.

So, what do you think? Do you agree with Dan’s assessment?

Jay checking out some tree breaks

Well, we finally made it to our 20th episode/post in our "Interviews" series. In this short interview we talk with Jay Haas, a researcher from Iowa.

Jay shares his research in the Bigfoot Network of the Midwest group found on facebook.

Here is our interview.

TM: How long have you been researching/studying Bigfoot?
JH: actively since 2001

TM: What got you interested in Bigfoot, Was there a particular event that got you started?
JH: I had encounters from childhood.

TM: During your research/studying of Bigfoot, have you ever encountered aggressive behavior or felt in danger from a Bigfoot?(details please)
JH: At 16 yrs old, a friend an I got a vocalization warning at very close range. I will never forget it.

TM: It seems Skeptics are always ready to attack Bigfoot research, How do you deal with it?
JH: I don't worry about others. They have a right to there opinion. My friend was a non believer at the kitchen table. Then he had an encounter with me. He can no longer deny. Some can't accept without some kind of encounter, that fine with me.

TM: Would you like to see Bigfoot accepted and/or proven to the general public?
JH: Yes.

TM: What is your favorite time of year to research/study Bigfoot, When do you have your most success?
JH: I like different seasons.Winter for tree structures, I seem to be most success during summer. I love to go out at night with no wind.

TM: Do you have a favorite Bigfoot story or report?
JH: Albert Ostman Story of him being kidnapped by Sasquatch.

TM: What would you be doing if you wasn't researching/studying Bigfoot?
JH: I would be missing out on a very precious opportunity.

Thanks for taking part in the interview, keep us posted on your Bigfoot research.

- End of Interview -

Actual Bigfoot field research can sometimes be very challenging with difficult terrain, insects, snakes and a host of other possible pitfalls. We have to have "Boots on the ground" to make headway. As a researcher myself I can appreciate people like Jay and the others I have interviewed, for actually facing these obstacles of field research.

We who do this often times face a lot of ridicule for our interest in Bigfoot. It is also a somewhat costly endeavor and time consuming. It takes some determination and drive to continue researching. My hope is that by doing these short interviews, researchers get some recognition for their hard work and efforts. I hope you will take the time to read some of our past interviews with these researchers.

Have a blessed day.

Thanks
~Tom~
