This is a story you may have heard a little about and didn't even know it. The story of Mum the hermit is also known as the Kentucky Wild man. The story was published in the Newark Daily Advocate back in 1883. It seems many details get lost in the re-telling of this interesting case. Most just attribute the wild man to be a captured Bigfoot, but if you look at the details you may come to a different conclusion.

Every year, on September 11 in New York City, lights beam from the spots where the Twin
Towers of the World Trade Center once stood. This is called the Tribute In Light. And photographers from everywhere flock to the area to get the perfect shot of the lighted sky over the city. But this year, photographer, Rich McCormack, got an added bonus in his photos.

At the top of one of the beams, there appears to be a human-shaped, glowing figure that looks to
be standing on a cloud above the city.

 McCormack swears he didn't tamper with the photos, and many believe the figure looks like
Jesus and the photos have profound religious significance. While others think they're meaningless
or just plain fake.

Possible map of sighting area

I got the following report in a couple days ago. I can not consider this a Bigfoot type creature by the way it was described as it really seems unusual. I have just made an educated guess with the map image at the top of the post based on the report. The little green area is called Riverside Park, to the left is the Missouri River.

If anyone has seen the type of creature reported in this report then please let us know.

Describe sighting in detail:

On a hike with my mother and father near a lake called "River Side" Right next to the Missouri river. We were walking along a trail in the forest when I heard movement in the tall grass. It was a dry summer so the grass was very yellowish brown and probably dead.

When I looked over I saw this creature, it was all black with what looked like a mane with a face like a ant eater but thicker with no mouth or nose.

I have no idea what it was but later that summer when I went to the same spot I found these tracks that look like hoof tracks about 4 inches thick but it's as if it was left by something that walked on 2 legs.

What ever it was I never would have thought up anything like it.

As you can see by the description give of the creature it is something unusual.
It is like nothing I have ever heard of or seen. I have attempted to ask some questions about the sighting but as of yet have not received a reply.

If anyone can confirm that they have also seen a similar type creature, please let us know.

Hanging Naked Man Orchid - Real or Fake?

I thought I might start a new series of post that I call "Real or Fake". I will post some unusual story or photo and let you know if the story/photo is something Real or Fake.

The first item in this little series is a photo of what is commonly called "Hanging Naked Man", see photo above - Some say it is just a photoshopped fake but after some quick research I discovered that indeed the odd flower is in fact real.

This orchid does bare a striking resemblance to a "Hanging Naked Man" ....completed with varying sizes of anatomy....does size matter? I guess not in the flower kingdom.   

Orchis italica, aka the Naked Man orchid or the Italian Orchid is certainly real and grows in various locations in the Mediterranean.

My wife & I were headed home through town (from dinner) & when we got to the junction of U.S.25 & 1016, this thing crossed the road in front of our truck. It was like nothing we had ever seen before. I asked my wife if she had seen it. She said "yes, but when do gnomes run across the road?"

I thought I was the only one who saw what she saw but the only way I can describe it is that it was a 2-3 foot tall Gnome. Plain & simple.
We are drug & alcohol free & don't tell tall tales. It really freaked the both of us out. It came from the left, crossed the road in front of us at a quartering toward us angle & was in full sight of the both of us. There's no way this could have been a joke on us. It moved too smoothly & just like a person only 2-3 feet tall. It was dressed in what looked like tan fur & it seemed to have been wearing
something on it's head. Beats the crap out of most of the strange stuff I've seen here in Berea, and I've seen a lot of weird, creepy stuff. Thank you for listening. W.M.

Dead Starfish

After reporting about the massive die off of some Elk, I got to looking and there has been several more massive die offs recently. A tip from David Lambert let me to these other die offs.

In British Columbia, Canada there was a massive die off of Starfish discovered by marine biologist and scuba enthusiast Jonathan Martin. Another massive die off happened in central Kazakhstan, where 3,000 Saiga antelopes were found dead. The Committee of Forestry and Hunting in cooperation with the Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems and Veterinary Service are researching for a cause of the massive die off.

This seems to be a really big issue in the region as representatives from other groups including  Ecology Departments of Akmola and Karaganda Oblasts, Veterinary Services, Emergency Situation Department, Internal Affairs Department and Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Service has got involved to try and determine the cause of the deaths.

This is the second massive die of Saiga antelopes, the other one happen in 2012 with over 600 antelopes being found dead.

It seems there are few answers to these animal deaths, but a lot of speculations. Could it be something natural that just happens or are their other factors involved. No one seems to know at the moment.

I remember a couple years ago there were massive bird deaths, even 1 or 2 in Kentucky best I can remember. There were also many fish deaths in several spots around the world. It makes one wonder about such events. Until the last few years I had never really heard or thought much about massive animals deaths but I suppose they were happening. Now I hear about Bees dying off, birds dying off and all these other animals.
I do find it interesting and wonder about it, maybe we will get some answers at some point.

Not Actual Horse that was killed, just used for reference

Butler County, Ohio has been the recent scene of some disturbing livestock mutilations. Two miniature horses named Blaze and Buck were found hacked to death last week on a stretch of pasture near what is known as Springfield Road situated near the Indiana state line. They had been known to be missing since May 23.

The owners Augustin and Yolanda Gama-Martinez, said their children were playing near the fence where the animals were found when they said they smelled something awful. They found one of the bodies intact, while the other’s head was found some 30 yards from the body.

Incidentally, this is very near the same spot where, on May 9, four sheep were found hacked to death, along with four more sheep and two other horses that were severely injured. Outside investigators have been trying to get more information on the incidents but no one close to the situation is talking much.

The partially decomposed bodies of the two horses left no clue as to how they actually died. Local law enforcement is obviously stumped and claiming it was probably coyotes, but local residents aren’t convinced. And some are convinced it’s more likely the work of some disturbed human(s).

Brittany Kolb, 27, who’s sheep were killed last month claimed there has been no problems with coyotes in the area. She believes whatever killed her sheep is also responsible for these killings. The rest of her animals that were injured by stab wounds at that time, received care, and are now recovering. Since these incidents, she is boarding her animals at another location.

Since the bodies were described as being hacked or having stab wounds and the bodies did not appear to have been eaten, also deflects from the coyote theory. Kolb said, "(The wounds) are pretty wide, very deep, like you can put your hand in them." She also said she originally believed the wounds may have been inflicted by an axe or hatchet. Though some have claimed over the years that coyotes kill "for the fun of killing," they don’t generally inflict stab wounds and sever heads from their bodies without great difficulty. And even if coyotes didn’t eat their prey, something else most surely would, especially if the animals had been lying dead for a while.

At any rate, it has everyone in this normally quiet rural area spooked. Children are being severely restricted in their outside play time, and pets are being kept under watch also. And the incidents may remain a mystery indefinitely and leave the local residents disturbed for a long time to come.

"We’ve had animals for eight years in that field," Kolb said. "And never had a problem with coyotes, and so have these people. Now all of a sudden, they have dead horses. It’s pretty ironic to me." *******DF

Yes it is real, a 2 headed shark!

Experts say the baby beast, found in the Gulf of Mexico, was a single shark rather than conjoined twins.
Boffins at Michigan State University carried out a study on the strange creature.

"This is certainly one of those interesting and rarely detected phenomena,” said Michael Wagner, the university’s assistant professor of fisheries and wildlife.
 
“It’s good that we have this documented as part of the world’s natural history.”
Wagner and his team used MRIs to reveal the shark had two distinct heads, hearts and stomachs, with the remainder of the body joining together at the back to form a single tail.


Pretty Cool but weird freak of nature.

It is being dubbed "Beast of Tenby" and the" Beast from the East" by the Westerntelegraph.
This odd carcass washed up Tenby's south beach and was photographed by 27 year old Peter Bailey who was walking his dog on the beach.

Bailey said:  "I was taking my dog for her evening walk across the south beach when she started acting out of character by howling and running round in circles.
 I ran up to her to see if she was ok and then I came across this hideous looking carcass. I could see it had little hair left on it's decomposing body. Immediately I thought it was a horse but it had claws like a bear and a body of a pig. Surprisingly it didn't smell."

So what is this mystery beast?

Unicorn skull?

Possible Unicorn skull found in Found in Belgium? Could it be real?

I know this is an older story but I had not seen it until today and if I haven't seen it then I'm guessing others have not either.

The word "Unicorn" is mentioned 9 times in the King James Version of the bible. Here is one example:

Psalms 92:10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

Notice it says HORN and not HORNS - So what was this one horned animal?

Unicorns are a one horn animal commonly looking like a horse, but could some other one horned animal, like a Rhino, have been misidentified? Maybe.

My guess is that the skull in the photo is a faked art type thing, but it's fun to speculate and good for a Monday evening. It's a nice piece either way and it would be nice to hang a hat or coat on, not to mention the looks on your friends faces when they come over.

Real or a Hoax?

Giant Finger Discovered!
This mummified giant finger was found in Egypt in 1988 by Gregor Sporri. The finger was said to be 40 centimeters long (about 16 inches). Some estimate the finger would have had to come off of something about 16 feet tall. Some suggested it might have come from a creature similar to Gigantopithecus Blacki, which is thought to be a gigantic ape species.

According to the story, the scientists were allowing people (Newsgroups) to take pictures. One of the men who came in to take pictures allegedly stole the finger.  So now no one knows for sure if it was real or a hoax.

I got an email today of another loud boom. Here is the email.

"Today 12-31-2012 around 12:00 pm a Loud Boom was heard from my house to ten miles away. I called the house down the road to see if he heard and is hard of hearing and he also heard the Boom. My best friend who lives a mile up the road from me called to see if I heard both of them they were 20 minutes apart.
I called my cousin who lives 10 miles away and she also heard both Booms.
There was no smoke that anyone could see. Nothing is on the news. Just wanted to report this to you after reading the article."

Figure in the sky in KY

The above photo was reportedly take by a game cam that for some reason was pointing up in the sky.
There appears to be a hooded figure on the left side of the photo. I've contacted the person who posted this in a effort to find out more details.
The photo was reportedly take in Prestionsburgh, Kentucky.
