Fairy Visits Woman

Today we present another fairy sighting that was submitted to us. This one takes place in Pennsylvania and inside of the person's home. We may often think of fairies as only living in the forest away from every thing, but that may not be totally true.

Here is the report

Understanding Cryptozoology

Bernard Heuvelmans founded the International Society of Cryptozoology (ISC) in 1982. As a philosopher of science, he never questioned whether Cryptozoology was properly a ParaScience or a pseudoscience.

Heuvelmans was a Belgian/French scientist, explorer, researcher and writer. He was born in Le Havre in northwestern France in 1916 and was raised in Belgium. He earned a doctorate in Zoology from the Free University of Brussels at the age of 23. Heuvelmans had been interested in zoological oddities for some time but he credits a 1948 Saturday Evening Post article by Ivan T. Sanderson with inspiring him to become deeply determined to explore more fully his interest in unknown animals. He wrote a book "On the track of Unidentified Animals" in 1955, published in two volumes. It has been translated into over 20 languages. Heuvelmans wrote many other books and articles, only a few of which have been translated into English. His works sold well among general audiences but saw little attention from mainstream scientists and experts.

The Crypto Files - Andean Wolf  (Ep24)

In the Andes mountains, there have long been rumors and sightings of what is called the Andean or Hagenbeck's Wolf. It is said to be rather larger than the known Maned wolf. There is some physical evidence to support the existence of this creature.

The Crypto Files - Agogwe (Ep18)

Welcome to episode 18 of The Crypto Files.
In this episode, we take a look at what most consider some type of cousin to our beloved Bigfoot. It is known as Agogwe and it is found in the forest of East Africa. The agogwe is also known as the kakundakari or kilomba in Zimbabwe and the Congo region. Some theories suggest that agogwe are a surviving species of Gracile australopithecine, a bipedal primate known to science from approximately 2.5-4.5 million years ago. Others think it could be bonobos, which are chimp-like creatures that occasionally walk upright.

Here is the episode.

The Crypto Files - The Adjule (Ep17)

In this episode of The Crypto Files, we take a quick look at a little less famous cryptid, the Adjule.
If you play video games, the Adjule might be familiar to you and you don't even know it. Some reports of the Adjule date back to around 1925.

I hope this episode introduces you to a cryptid that you didn't know much about or maybe a cryptid that you have never heard of before.

Also, in the episode we change a couple of things up. The main change is in the narrator. I know most folks don't care for my voice and I thought it would be fun to get some of our other team members involved. Hopefully, we can have another team member narrate a future episode.  I think the changes make the series a little more fun.

Possible map of sighting area
I got the following report in a couple days ago. I can not consider this a Bigfoot type creature by the way it was described as it really seems unusual. I have just made an educated guess with the map image at the top of the post based on the report. The little green area is called Riverside Park, to the left is the Missouri River.

If anyone has seen the type of creature reported in this report then please let us know.

Here is the report.

- Start Report -

Name: Matthew

Email Address: On File

State: Iowa

County:

Date of Sighting: Summer of 2012 Once in the beginning then the end.

Time of Day: Mid Afternoon

Nearest Town: Council Bluffs

Length of Sighting: Around 5 seconds

How many Witnesses: 1

Any Photos/Videos: None

Describe sighting in detail:

On a hike with my mother and father near a lake called "River Side" Right next to the Missouri river. We were walking along a trail in the forest when I heard movement in the tall grass. It was a dry summer so the grass was very yellowish brown and probably dead.

When I looked over I saw this creature, it was all black with what looked like a mane with a face like a ant eater but thicker with no mouth or nose.

I have no idea what it was but later that summer when I went to the same spot I found these tracks that look like hoof tracks about 4 inches thick but it's as if it was left by something that walked on 2 legs.

What ever it was I never would have thought up anything like it.

- End Report -

As you can see by the description give of the creature it is something unusual.
It is like nothing I have ever heard of or seen. I have attempted to ask some questions about the sighting but as of yet have not received a reply.

If anyone can confirm that they have also seen a similar type creature, please let us know.

Thanks
~Tom~

New Species
Sun Moth - Credit: Oleg Pekarsky
According to statics biologists have cataloged and named about 1.2 million species, but most think this is just a drop in the bucket to what is left undiscovered. Some estimates put the undiscovered or yet to be discovered at about 7 million creatures. So it appears there will be plenty of work for researchers in the years to come.

One can only ponder about our elusive friend Bigfoot and wonder what it's really going to take for this amazing creature to finally get recognized and cataloged. For those of  us who know for a fact that bigfoot is real, no other proof is really needed, but for the general public and the scientific world to accept bigfoot,  more proof has to be presented.

New discoveries
Glow in the dark Cockroach discovered in 2013
According to a recent study that was deemed the most accurate ever, there has been only about a quarter of the total number of species discovered on earth. Lets take a look at some of the suggested numbers while we keep in mine our many wonderful unconfirmed cryptids.

Mammals - The number of confirmed species discovered is 5,501 with an estimated undiscovered number at 200. Mammals are vertebrates, which means they have a backbone or spine. All mammals have hair on their bodies at some point and produce milk to feed their babies.

Birds - The number of confirmed species is 10,064 with an estimated undiscovered number at 500. Birds are also vertebrates, have feathers and lay eggs.

Reptiles - The number of confirmed species is 9,547 with an estimated undiscovered number at 2,500. Reptiles are also vertebrates, covered in scales and have lungs for breathing.

Amphibians - Confirmed species is 6,771 with an estimated undiscovered number at 8,200. Amphibians are vertebrates, breather through their skin and go through metamorphosis. Recently a new frog was discovered and it is the worlds smallest frog measuring in at only 1/4 of an inch long.

Fish - The confirmed number of species is 32,400 with an estimated undiscovered number at 12,500.

Crustaceans - The confirmed number of species is 47,000 with an estimated undiscovered number of 100,000. The larger grouping for crustaceans is Arthropods. All insect fall into this section and all are invertebrates, meaning they do not have a backbone or skeleton but a exoskeleton.

Mollusks - The confirmed species number is 85,000 with an estimated undiscovered number of  115,000. Mollusks are invertebrates. Examples are clams, snails and slugs.

Arachnids - The confirmed species number is 102,248 with an estimated undiscovered number of 500,000. Of course this is one of my least favorite things ....ugh spiders. Arachnids fall under the Arthropods section. Examples include spiders, ticks, and mites.

I should also mention Insects with a confirmed 1 million and 4 million estimated undiscovered. Some of these of course are really small but they are numerous.

Recent Discoveries

Lesula Monkey was well known to the locals but new to science.
The monkey has "human like" eyes and greets each dawn with a
loud shout. Discovered in the Congo. It is estimated that about 80
percent of the Congo is unexplored.

The Glow in the dark Cockroach, featured at the top of this post, is also called "lightening roach". It was discovered in early 2013.
Another rather new discovery is the Leaf Chameleon. It was discovered in the jungles of Madagascar in February 2012 and is one of the world's smallest known reptiles.

So with all the estimated undiscovered species one would assume all we have to do is wait and at some point, some of our favorite hidden creatures will be discovered.  The field of cryptozoology has helped in the past to prove some discoveries in days gone by, so maybe one of our fellow researchers will hit the mark again.

Thanks
~Tom~

The Ahool is a flying cryptid and is reportedly a very bat like creature but some say it is more like a flying primate. The connection to primates could be due to how the head and face has been described as looking like a monkey. The Ahool lives in the rainforest of Java, Java is a island in Indonesia.
The Ahool is named after the sound it reportedly makes, which is reportedly a cooing type sound.

The Ahool is described as having dark eyes, large claws on it's forearms, covered in fur and a 10-12  foot wingspan.
Many think this unknown creature could actually be a large brown wood owl or an undiscovered bat of some sort. The wood owl might explain some of the cooing sounds, as they are similar, but the size would not be big enough, I don't think. So that leaves us with the bat theory, the largest bat is the fruit bat, also sometimes called flying foxes, they can grow to around 20-22 inches in length and have a wingspan of about 6 foot. So if the tales about the Ahool are true, then the fruit bat is undersized as well. It could be a case of embellishment causing the size of the creature to grow, sometimes things seem larger if you are frightened and surprised. Plus one should consider that this could very well be an as of yet undiscovered creature.

Description: Flying Bat type creature
