Mysterious Camp Beauregard

The Camp Beauregard Memorial, outside Water Valley, Kentucky on Kentucky state road 2422 northeast of town, marks the site of Camp Beauregard during the American Civil War. It was named for Confederate General P. G. T. Beauregard. It was situated to protect the right flank of the Confederate base at Columbus, Kentucky.

While an active military installation, from September 1861 to March 1, 1862, it trained 5,000-6,000 soldiers for the Confederate States of America.

However, the place was disease-ridden, resulting in 1,000-1,500 deaths at the camp. The diseases included cerebrospinal meningitis, pneumonia, and typhoid fever with poor weather and lack of sufficient supplies for the troops contributing to the dire situation. In a single day, 75 cases of typhoid and pneumonia were reported.

Under the direction of the 27th Tennessee Regiment's Colonel Thomas Logwood, the camp was burned down. Union forces captured the site shortly after the abandonment.

A monument was erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1909 to commemorate the soldiers that died there and supposedly, some 900 soldiers are buried in a mass grave under the monument…..but some folks say those soldiers are STILL THERE today?

Here is an experience from my friend, Dana M.:

My best experience: I was with a group of friends at night. It was very late. We all branched off wandering around reading headstones. I went off to myself.

I was standing reading a large monument and the name "Dorothy" screamed in my head. It was weird. I turned around and when I shined my light on the headstone behind me her name was Dorothy. It was surreal.

We heard the beast and ran to the car and left. These events are all separate nights. The last time I went my friend Bob was in town. I had not seen him in 25 years. We went to the cemetery. He also went with another group. This was in August of 2012. In March of 2014, he died in his sleep.
My other friend Karen and I went as a group and took pictures. About three months later she died on her living room floor. I will not go back I'm also very ill but that's another novella.”

Other reports include:
One person explains he has seen lights dancing on some of the headstones and seeing various dark figures running through the graves only to vanish.

There’s also a black beast-like figure that supposedly will chase visitors in an attempt to make them leave.

One night, two individuals said the “beast” followed them for several miles before flooding their car with an over-whelming scent of cinnamon before vanishing.

Also, there are reports of people hearing combat sounds, including what has been described as the sound of sabers clashing.

Half snake half girl
Snake Girl?

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

Ok, so of course this is a total fake but I have seen it getting passed around the internet the last little bit.
The story is being passed off as a real but rare condition known as Serpentosis Malianorcis. The thing is there is no such disease as Serpentosis Malianorcis.

Here is the story that is being attached to the photo.

"Bangkok| 8 year old Mai Li Fay, from Bangkok, is far from living the usual life of a girl her age. Everyday, thousands of people gather to the front of her family’s house to get a chance of seeing and possibly touching the young girl, a gesture which both buddhists and hindu pilgrims seem to perceive as a garantee of good fortune.
According to the country’s top medical expert, Dr Ping Lao, the young girl suffers a very rare syndrome known as the Serpentosis Malianorcis or Jing Jing’s disease, which gives her lower body a distinct reptilian form and aspect. Only a handful of such cases have been recorded throughout history, so the scientific knowledge accumulated about the pathology is rather limited and there is no cure in sight at the moment.
The Fay family have welcomed the situation brought by Mai Li’s situation with a mix of anguish and excitement, as the never ending lines of tourists and pilgrims have brought the badly impoverished family some substantial revenues and given them an important raise in their social status but cost them there privacy and intimacy."

There are even reports being posted of large crowds coming to see "Snake girl" but of course these are not true either.

The image is a photo shopped image and the story is Fake.

Thanks
~Tom~

massive die off of Starfish
Dead Starfish
After reporting about the massive die off of some Elk, I got to looking and there has been several more massive die offs recently. A tip from David Lambert let me to these other die offs.

In British Columbia, Canada there was a massive die off of Starfish discovered by marine biologist and scuba enthusiast Jonathan Martin. The deaths remain a mystery but some speculate that it could be some type of parasite. Here is a link to a video of the dead starfish - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIsbLpQQows

Another massive die off happened in central Kazakhstan, where 3,000 Saiga antelopes were found dead. The Committee of Forestry and Hunting in cooperation with the Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems and Veterinary Service are researching for a cause of the massive die off.

This seems to be a really big issue in the region as representatives from other groups including  Ecology Departments of Akmola and Karaganda Oblasts, Veterinary Services, Emergency Situation Department, Internal Affairs Department and Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Service has got involved to try and determine the cause of the deaths.

This is the second massive die of Saiga antelopes, the other one happen in 2012 with over 600 antelopes being found dead.

It seems there are few answers to these animal deaths, but a lot of speculations. Could it be something natural that just happens or are their other factors involved. No one seems to know at the moment.

I remember a couple years ago there were massive bird deaths, even 1 or 2 in Kentucky best I can remember. There were also many fish deaths in several spots around the world. It makes one wonder about such events. Until the last few years I had never really heard or thought much about massive animals deaths but I suppose they were happening. Now I hear about Bees dying off, birds dying off and all these other animals.
I do find it interesting and wonder about it, maybe we will get some answers at some point.

Thanks
~Tom~

Herd of Elk found dead
Dead Elk Herd
State biologists are trying to figure out what killed a herd of Elk in northeastern New Mexico.
The herd of more than 100 elk were found dead and do not appear to have been shot or injured in any way.

Many suspect a disease called Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease, which is caused by insect bites.
EHD causes the elk to run a high fever and normally kills the elk with 8 to 36 hours.

Tissue and water samples from the area have been sent in for testing, but until a definite cause is determined there will be speculation. EHD is not contagious to humans but Fish and Wildlife have urged hunters not to harvest the dead elk.

Some comments about the cause of this mass die off have been all over the map. Here are some of the comments about what caused this die off.

Rick Frazier - "Gov't agent killing off the herds before the collapse of the dollar, mass rioting, country people feeding themselves for a long time on wild meat, thus resisting the new world order."

Christine "This is the work of extraterrestrials. You think I am crazy but I tell you that one day, you will believe me and others who tell you the same thing. The world has changed."

Some are also thinking that maybe fracking of gas/oil wells could have something to do with it. Others are tying the massive die off to the bible, that it is part of the end time tribulations of the end the Earth age.

So I guess at this point we really don't know what caused this massive overnight die off. Once the samples are tested we may have more of an answer.

Thanks
~Tom~

Real Life Zombie Apocalypse?
How It Could Happen
By TCC Team Member Dorraine Fisher

If you’re thinking the zombie apocalypse is simply the stuff of fiction horror movies and doesn’t need to be taken seriously, think again. The United States government Center For Disease Control has a web page dedicated to telling citizens how to survive it, and more interesting yet, history suggests it’s happened before. (Link: CDC Zombies Info )

Archaeologists in Europe and the Middle East have recently unearthed evidence of a stone age culture of humans in which violently smashing the skulls of corpses was an accepted practice. And possibly considered a necessary one for some reason. A reason that isn’t yet clear, but it’s believed they felt they had some cause to believe the dead posed some kind of threat to the living. For some reason, they believed it was necessary to smash the skulls of the corpses, separate them from the body, and bury them somewhere else apart from the body. And based on other scientific studies of similar practices in ancient cultures, this was often to stop the dead from becoming some kind of danger.

Curiously the skulls were the skulls of males 18-30 of which the bodies had already begun to decompose. They had been smashed in a rather unceremonious fashion, like with a rock or something similar, and unglamorously removed from the spines. It was said that no trace of any "delicate cutting" was found on the bodies. This wasn’t neatly done. It’s almost like they were indifferent to these dead individuals. But the question is why.

Surely a scientific explanation will come in time. But for now, it raises a lot of questions of whether or not the ancients experienced some kind of unique "problem" with their dead.

And what about today? Why should we even entertain the idea of such a thing now?

I could go into a whole long scientific explanation, but the movie I Am Legend with Will Smith back in 2007 said it best.

In this sure-to-be future cult classic, Smith plays a scientist who just happens to be the last man on earth, struggling to survive on his own in post-apocalyptic New York City. The rest of the human race left has been infected by a horrible "vampiric" virus. An ultimately fatal superbug that leaves no trace of it original human to be recognized. A disease that, to me, is reminiscent of a mutated strain of rabies. Like rabies on steroids.

Smith’s character, Robert Neville, lives and searches for food, supplies, and a cure for this disease by day, but by night must hunker down in his own home on super lockdown as these voracious killer beings wander the streets of the city. A large population of a kind of walking dead of sorts.

Yes, it’s just a movie. But modern medicine suggests the implications are conceivable in exactly the right conditions. Something like this could conceivably happen.

So maybe the government has it right (this time). And maybe we should pay closer attention and not laugh it off. ******DF

One ugly Bird
Turkeys in Maine have been found with a virus. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife tells WNSX the virus is called Lymphoproliferative Disease Virus (LPDV). It causes minor to extreme lesions on a turkey's head and legs and is thought to spread by skin contact or mosquito bites.

The disease poses no risk to humans, but there is a potential for bacterial infection if the bird is handled improperly. If you shoot a bird like the one pictured, IFW asks that you contact the Department of Public Safety in Augusta at (800) 452-4664 or Wildlife Biologist at one of the numbers listed below:

Ashland – (207) 435-3231 Bangor – (207) 941-4466 Enfield – (207) 732-4132 Gray – (207) 657-2345 Greenville – (207) 695-3756 Jonesboro – (207) 434-5927 Sidney – (207) 547-5318 Strong – (207) 778-3324

After examining the bird, the Department staff member will determine your eligibility to harvest another turkey.

A deer in Gothenburg, Sweden has Gnarly cactus. normally referred to as "cactus buck" or "Gnarly buck".
Gnarly cactus is a condition which causes the animal’s antlers to continue growing until they cover its eyes. Normally, a hormonal impulse stirs the bucks to rub the velvet off its antlers every year, and eventually shed them.
When a hormonal imbalance disturbs the shedding of the animal’s antlers, each growing cycle produces more velvet and antler material on top of the previous year’s until they eventually grow over the deer’s eyes, resembling a cactus.
An animal with this condition will have very small or completely undescended testicles. Animals with this condition are not expected to live for a long time. Once the antlers grow over his eyes, the animal will be unable to fend for itself.

Centers for Disease Deterrence website

The main focus of the site seems to be the zombie virus LQP-79. They have some very nice videos about it.

(Reuters) - South Korean scientists said on Wednesday they have created a glowing dog using a cloning technique that could help find cures for human diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, Yonhap news agency reported.
A research team from Seoul National University (SNU) said the genetically modified female beagle, named Tegon and born in 2009, has been found to glow fluorescent green under ultraviolet light if given a doxycycline antibiotic, the report said.
The researchers, who completed a two-year test, said the ability to glow can be turned on or off by adding a drug to the dog's food.
"The creation of Tegon opens new horizons since the gene injected to make the dog glow can be substituted with genes that trigger fatal human diseases," the news agency quoted lead researcher Lee Byeong-chun as saying.
He said the dog was created using the somatic cell nuclear transfer technology that the university team used to make the world's first cloned dog, Snuppy, in 2005.
The scientist said that because there are 268 illnesses that humans and dogs have in common, creating dogs that artificially show such symptoms could aid treatment methods for diseases that afflict humans.
The latest discovery published in 'Genesis', an international journal, took four years of research with roughly 3.2 billion won ($3 million) spent to make the dog and conduct the necessary verification tests, Yonhap said
