Dr. Ketchum DNA Paper Update

So this got me to checking with the Better Business Bureau and I found some things that people might find interesting.
It seems there are numerous complaints filed with the BBB against Ketchum's company.
19 complaints filed
There has been 19 complaints filed with the BBB against DNA Diagnostics over the last 3 years.
Most of the complaints seem to be for either very slow or no service at all. I read some of the complaints and many did not get any results back from the lab at all. Others were trying to gets refunds. Many complaints also stated that there was a  "Failure to respond to phone calls or written requests for assistance or support" from DNA Diagnostics.

Here is a little part of one complaint, the customer wrote:
"On Feb 24th my wife called and was told "there was a problem with the sample and it would have to be re-tested". On the 4th of March my wife called again and was also told that "sometimes it depends on how the hair reacts to the chemicals, or, IT DEPENDS ON HOW YOU HOLD YOUR MOUTH WHEN RUNNING THE TEST". Then it was "the technician wasn't working out so we hired a new one that seems to be working out pretty good, so we are going to run it again tomorrow. But we may have to have another sample." We were told that this testing is done on fridays. So they had 5 fridays to complete the tests or inform me that a new sample needed to be submitted...."

The customer went on to say:
"I sent you a hair sample for HYPP testing that you received and SIGNED for on the 31st of January 2011. I have made repeated attempts to contact you about the progress and have been told "we didn't receive it when you think we did, the test will be done this week and results mailed to you, the email address you sent the email to doesn't come to me (then why have the email address?), there was a problem with the test and it has to be rerun on Friday (March 4th, 2011) and I take the results and put them in the mail that day or the next. It took you 2 days to deposit my check but has taken over 30 days to get my test results."
 There seems to be a history of slow service, could this be the reason for the long delay of the DNA paper being published? Maybe

The BBB summed the complaints as follows:
"DNA Diagnostics has developed a pattern of complaints and has failed to correct the underlying reasons for complaints. Consumers claim have paid for services that have not been delivered or have not been delivered within a reasonable time. Further, they have not received a refund when services were not provided."

With these complaints the BBB give Dr. Ketchum's company a grade of F.

So given the complaints and the current rumor that Ketchum is in litigation now. I can see why the DNA paper might be delayed. I can also understand why many think the paper will never be published. If you have a possible bigfoot  DNA sample sent into Dr. Ketchum this could cause some concern about it. Will a company with a grade of F be taken seriously? Does the BBB really carry any weight? or is it meaningless?

I had very high hopes about  the DNA paper from Ketchum but after all these long delays and the history of these short comings it sure makes me wonder if everything is what it is said to be.

Venus crosses the sun this Wednesday

Wednesday's sunrise will be a markedly different one than usual, for as the golden disc rises about the horizon, it will be scarred by a small black dot floating across its surface.
This is the planet Venus, which will stand out in silhouette against the sun - taking a quick bow in the limelight. The next time it takes to the stage, 105 years will have sailed by, meaning most people alive today will not be around to see the encore performance in 2117.
The entire transit, lasting 6 hours and 40 minutes, will be visible almost worldwide - but if you are in the UK and don't want to miss it, it will be an early rise at 5.55am.


Beginning on Tuesday at 11.04pm BST, skywatchers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the northern part of South America will see the beginning of the show before the sun sets.
Assuming the Great British Summer decides to give us a clear morning, you will be able to view the transit from home - but make sure you do it safely, with this advice from NASA:
Inexpensive eclipse shades have special safety filters that appear similar to sunglasses, but these filters permits safe viewing. However, with less than 48 hours to go, these may be tough to track down in time.
If you have binoculars or telescopes, special solar filters are available. However, never ever use a telescope without a filter or look directly at the sun - or you will irreparably damage your eyesight. And NASA warns not to buy solar filters that attach to the eye-piece, as these are not always safe.
But if there is a telescope to hand, find a screen and project the sun onto it. This will provide a magnified view of the sun, and the clearest way of seeing the transit yourself - but find a safe surface to project onto, as this can be a fire risk.
Pinhole projectors have the advantage of being easy and inexpensive, although their view is unmagnified. For advice on how to make one, check out the page at Stanford.

This is a video I made about the people who contracted the flesh-eating virus, I think all of them ended up living. 
The flesh-eating disease, a bacterial infection called necrotizing fasciitis, is an infection that kills the body's soft tissue. It is a serious disease that begins and spreads quickly. Symptoms include red or purple or black skin, swelling, severe pain, fever, and vomiting.

More Zombie Type Attacks! (Update)

After the zombie type attack in Miami there seem to me more of the same type of behavior happening. Is this all due to the "bath salt" drug?

A Harford County man admitted to killing his roommate and eating his body parts, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

According to charging documents, Alexander Kinyua, 21, killed his roommate, Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, with a knife and then ate his heart and part of his brain.

So over the last few days there has been zombie type attacks in Florida, Maryland and New Jersey and it appears all are being blamed on drug use,namely the drug commonly called "bath salt". From what I've read "bath salt" is a lower cost version of LSD.

It’s a good thing that there are Florida, Maryland and New Jersey detoxification centers that can deal with this type of addiction, but the danger is still very much real.

There was also rumored to be an attack in California but I could not confirm it.
I'll try to keep up on this and relay the reports.

Also many are linking all this to the following passage in the bible:

Jeremiah 19: 8-9And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof. 9.And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.

Update - Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has releases statement
“CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms),” wrote agency spokesman David Daigle in an email to The Huffington Post.

ZOM-BIE: n. also ZOM-BIES pl. 1. An animated corpse that feeds on living human flesh. 2. A voodoo spell that raises the dead. 3. A Voodoo snake god. 4. One who moves or acts in a daze "like a zombie." [a word of West African origin] - Max Brooks, "The Zombie Survival Guide"

I would think 4. in the above would cover the actions that have been taking place.

Cops in Canada are also searching for a low-budget porn actor who allegedly killed a young man with an ice pick, dismembered the body and then raped and ate flesh from the corpse. Luka Rocco Magnotta is being hunted after he allegedly mailed some of the body parts to Ottawa. He's also accused of killing cats on video and posting the footage online.

There has been a Mysterious Rash breakout at a high school in Hollywood and other parts of Florida -- which hazmat and disease control teams still can't explain --  could this also be playing a part in the strange behavior?

Over the recent years it seems Kentucky has become sort of a hot spot for bigfoot sightings.
Several TV shows have came to Kentucky in search of the elusive creature many in the state call "woodbooger".

Bigfoot reports back in the 1800's referred to the creature as "wildman" but over time it has been called many different names and been seen often.

According to the BFRO's  sighting reports (Found Here) for Kentucky there have been 85 possible bigfoot sightings. It's good to keep in mind that many sightings go unreported and others are reported to other groups like ours and others,we have one report ourselves dating back into the 1940's and there was also a report a few years back about a lady hitting a bigfoot with her car and hair was collected and send off for analysis. I never did find out much more about the hit and run case or the results of the hair sample.

There are several research groups in and around Kentucky that try to track reports and sightings.
Kentucky bigfoot is a very popular group in KY that also have a county by county listing of bigfoot reports. Carter county seems to have the most reported sightings, topping in at 13 total listings. Many reports listed fall within 2006-2011 range, so it seems to still be an active area.
Carter Caves State Resort Park seems to be the most active area or "hot spot".

Another popular Kentucky Group is BFRPKY (The Bigfoot Research Project Kentucky). The Director of Operations is Chris Bennett. Chris is also co-host for squatchdetectiveradio.com, which is a internet talk show about bigfoot. They really help keep everyone up to date on the latest happenings around the bigfoot community.

Many of you have no doubt heard of The Erickson Project (Found Here) and their now some what famous "Matilda" sleeping bigfoot photo.

This photo is from a reported video filmed in Kentucky in which Matilda is filmed at close range and in HD. This filming took place over several months and it is commonly reported that the video follows Matilda during a pregnancy.
It has long been rumored that The Erickson Project Team will at some point release a video of this footage and many others. One can't talk about The Erickson video without referring to Dr. Melba ketchum's reported and up coming DNA paper confirming that bigfoot is in fact a real creature.Ketchum's paper is said to include several DNA samples from Kentucky.
Some say the EP video will release around the same time as the DNA paper to maximize and capitalize on all the hype.
Another reportedly included video in the EP video is a 2005 clip featuring a juvenile bigfoot feeding on pancakes.The clip was shot in Kentucky. The pancake video was leaked to the Internet and created a big controversy. It is reported that Adrian Erickson purchased the video for $20,000 and will include it in the final video release.

I would guess that one of Kentucky's most famous bigfoot stories is the one that involves Daniel Boone. It seems Boone told of killing a ten-foot, hairy giant he called a "Yahoo". Most assume that Boone killed what we now call a Bigfoot and it seems to be a fair assumption.
The early pioneer settlers and explorers of KY would have likely been the first white men to set eyes on these large, elusive creatures,so the idea of killing one does not seem that far fetched.

Many are quick to point out that Boone liked to tell tall tales and dismiss his story completely but given the history of bigfoot sightings in Kentucky, it has just as much if not more of a chance of being totally true.

Kentucky is well suited as a place for bigfoot to live. Kentucky has twelve million acres,47 percent of Kentucky's 25,425,904 acres are covered in forest. Of the 12 million acres of forest, 11.6 million is classified as timberland.
Kentucky is loaded with lots of fresh water lakes,streams and a large population of deer and other game.

Here is some facts about Kentucky forest.
* Kentucky has one of the most diverse hardwood species mix in the nation (second only to Florida).
* Forty-seven percent of Kentucky is forestland - that's 11.9 million acres of forests.
* Eighty-nine percent of Kentucky's forestland is owned by private landowners.
* Seventy-two percent of the forestland is composed of oak-hickory species.

Champion Trees:
* The tallest champion tree in the state is a Scarlet oak located in Bell County measuring 199 feet tall.
* The largest recorded champion tree in Kentucky is a Bald cypress in Fayette County. It is 328 inches (more than 27 feet) in circumference.
* The county with the most state champions is Fayette County with 17.
* The smallest champion is a smooth sumac with a circumference of 13 inches and is located at McConnell Springs in Fayette County.
* The Kentucky State Tree is the tulip poplar, also called yellow-poplar.
* The State Heritage Tree is the Kentucky coffee tree.

Other somewhat famous cryptids tales from Kentucky include the names: "hillbilly beast","Pope Lick monster" and "Hopskinsville green men". In the past many TV shows like Monster Quest,Finding Bigfoot and Fact or Fake have been to Kentucky researching reports of bigfoot and other strange happenings.
Given the history of sightings and the lush forest land of Kentucky, we can see more and more sightings being reported in the future and return visits from numberous TV shows.
So if you're in Kentucky, keep a camera in hand because you never know where the big guy might show up next.

Zombie Attack in Miami ? (Update X4)

A little while back the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put out a Zombie Preparedness
warning (Read it Here) ...it appears they may have been on to something.

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami police shot and killed a man on the MacArthur Causeway Saturday afternoon, and police sources told CBS4 they had no choice: the naked man they shot was trying to chew the face off another naked man, and refused to obey police orders to stop his grisly meal.
The bizarre shooting happened shortly after 2 p.m., when police responded to a 911 call about two naked men fighting on a bike path along the Causeway, which was packed with traffic on a busy holiday weekend.
Miami police have not confirmed the details of what happened next, but sources close to the investigation told CBS4 News that officers found one man gnawing on the face of another, in what one police source called the most gruesome thing he'd ever seen.

The fight was taking place at the causeway exit near the Miami Herald building, and amazed officers tried to stop it, ordering the man making a meal out of the other man to stop.

Sources told CBS4 that the man refused to obey, and continued his attack. Investigators sharing limited details about the confrontation, saying only that the two men were fighting and the officers felt they had no choice but to take deadly force.

"During this confrontation an officer did discharge his weapon striking one of the individuals, said Det. Willie Moreno, spokesperson for Miami Police.

But the sources close to the investigation say that dry recitation of the facts apparently doesn't go far enough. They said the man still would not give in to police commands, so officers fired again. "That individual has lost his life right now," Moreno said.

With the attacker dead, lying nude on the pavement, officers and paramedics were able to get to his victim and rush him to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Police sources say the man had virtually no face and was unrecognizable. Police have shared no information about his identity or condition.
Once the bizarre confrontation came to an end, police were left with the task of figuring out what had happened. The investigation forced the closure of the causeway from Miami Beach to Miami, and also closed an exit to the causeway from I-95.

The investigation snarled traffic for hours and delayed thousands of motorists until ways could be found to get them off the causeway. Police have had little official to say about the details, and have not released the name of the cannibalistic attacker.
TCC -  So maybe watching all them zombie movies will finally pay off...but seriously this is totally weird.
Is there even a West Virginia substance abuse resource list for this type of addiction?

Update -  The flesh eating cannibal was 31-year-old Rudy Eugene.
Police believe that Rudy attacked his victim because he was having a bought of cocaine psychosis or was suffering from an overdose of “bath salts,” a synethic drug police say is being used as a new form of LSD.
In the meantime Miami police are asking that any potential witnesses who have not yet stepped forward regarding the incident to call the local police station at 305-603-6350 to report any further details about the attack to investigators.

TCC -  So a possible bad batch of "drugs" turns a man into a flesh eating zombie? If that is the case be ready for many more attacks.

Update 2 -

TCC -  More details are now coming out about this very odd attack.
Witness Larry Vega was riding his bicycle Saturday afternoon off the MacArthur Causeway that connects downtown Miami with Miami Beach when he saw the savage attack, he told local news media.
"The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, 'Get off!'" Vega told Miami television station WSVN (http://bit.ly/L6kwWt). "The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin."
Vega flagged down a Miami police officer, who he said repeatedly ordered the attacker to get off the victim. The attacker just picked his head up and growled at the officer, Vega said.
As the attack continued, Vega said the officer shot the attacker, who continued chewing the victim's face. The officer fired again, killing the attacker.
"It was just a blob of blood," Vega said. "You couldn't really see, it was just blood all over the place."
The victim, who has not been identified, is in critical condition at a hospital.

Update 3 -  The victim was identified as Ronald Poppo. Poppo is 65 years old and homeless.
Barry Alston said that he spoke with Poppo on several occasions.  “I know that he’s a peaceful person, and that he doesn’t bother anybody," Alston said.

Armando Aguilar, President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #20, said a man who was fatally shot by an officer had mauled up to 80 percent of another man's face in Miami.  The Fraternal Order of Police are thought by many to be Freemasons. Freemasons are thought by many to be tied to darks forces, namely Satan.

It has been told that it took 7 shots to stop Rudy Eugene from continuing the attack, with the final 7th shot being a head shot.

There is also some rumors that this is not a one time event and that a few other zombie style attacks have or are taking place...again this is a rumor and I will try to stay up on it.

All this makes me wonder is a bad batch of drugs made its way onto the streets and this was the results. If it is a bad batch of drugs then one can assume there could be more of this type of attacks to come.
I will try to keep everything updated.

Update 4 -

Several people called 911 after seeing events related to the vicious attack of a 65-year-old homeless man whose face was mostly chewed off along a busy Miami highway, according to recordings released by authorities Friday.
Callers only reported seeing two men fighting in the shadow of The Miami Herald headquarters and did not mention seeing Ronald Poppo's face being chewed.

Surveillance video shows Rudy Eugene, 31, attack Poppo alongside the highway last Saturday afternoon. A police officer fatally shot Eugene during the attack. Police have not released a motive for the attack.

"He's going to kill that man, I promise you," a female bus driver said, urging a 911 operator to send help. Poppo remains hospitalized.

The driver, who wasn't named by authorities, described the scene as she drove by.

"Listen, there is a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway," she said. "He is beating another man to a pulp — like on top of the man, beating him, the man is bleeding."

In another call, a man said the two men were fighting, saying they nearly knocked over an elderly bicyclist.

"These two bums were going at it with each other, taking up the whole lane," the caller said. "I think they were fighting or something."

The unidentified man gave his phone number to the 911 operator. He declined to comment when contacted Friday evening by The Associated Press.

Another male caller, who didn't mention the fight, reported seeing a man taking off his clothes and throwing them into the traffic.

"You can't miss him. He's naked," the man said.

Most powerful telescope in human history

Super-telescope built from 3,000 dishes across three countries
The world's biggest and most advanced radio telescope, capable of detecting signs of extraterrestrial life in the far reaches of the universe, will be located in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
The decision to split the location of the $2 billion ‘Square Kilometre Array’ followed an intense battle between the bidders - South Africa one side and a joint bid from Australia and New Zealand on the other.
Scanning the sky 10,000 times faster and with 50 times the sensitivity of any other telescope, it will be used to study the origins of the universe and will be able to detect weak signals that could indicate the presence of extraterrestrial life.

Scientists leading the project rejected the suggestion that the decision, which will mean higher costs, meant science had taken a back seat to political expediency.

‘We were all aware of the political dimensions of this,’ said Jon Womersley, Chair of the Board of Directors of the SKA organisation, but he added: ‘It's a scientifically motivated way forward.’

There is already infrastructure in South Africa and Australia, including radio telescope dishes that were built as precursors to the new array. They will now be incorporated into the SKA.

The consortium estimates that the decision to split the project will add about 10 percent to the 350 million euro ($440 million) budget for the first phase of construction.

When completed in 2024 the telescope will be made up of 3,000 dishes, each 15 metres wide, together with many more antennae, that together will give a receiver surface area of a square kilometre.

‘This hugely important step for the project allows us to progress the design and prepare for the construction phase of the telescope,’ said Michiel van Haarlem, Director General of the consortium.

‘The SKA will transform our view of the universe; with it we will see back to the moments after the Big Bang and discover previously unexplored parts of the cosmos.’
To process the data coming back from the Square Kilometre Array, IBM is designing a computer which will digest twice as much information every day as the entire internet, sifting through radio waves from space in an effort to unravel the origin of the universe.

The machine will be attached to a 1,900 square mile array of telescope antenna, and will be built to 'suck in' in radio telescope data which will 'see' 13 billion years into the past, back to the dawn of the universe and the Big Bang.

The machine will be millions of times more powerful than the fastest PCs today - and will deal with 100 times more information than the output of the Large Hadron Collider.

            Growing up in an Illinois river town, I guess I can relate to an author like Mark Twain who told stories of that life so eloquently. Many Twain novels paint elements of a picture of life on the river that I clearly remember myself.  Including legends of ghosts and monsters and mysterious events that remain firmly planted in the culture to this day. 
            But we often forget that Mark Twain, the famed author of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn was a philosopher first; a bit hardened by the life he led as Samuel Clements, one of only three survivors of a family of seven children who later lost his father when he was only 11 years old.
             He later became a printer and typesetter who educated himself at night through use of the local library. He was a Confederate army deserter of sorts through his own admission, as he claimed to have formed a company of his own and then disbanded a couple weeks later because his heart wasn’t in the cause.  And he was master riverboat pilot on the Mississippi, an atmosphere entrenched in Native American legends,  endless ghost stories, and wild man tales centered around the many caves along the river that were later injected into his early novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.  And all this before he traveled west to Nevada, failed as a gold miner, and eventually became a journalist for the Virginia City  Territorial Enterprise.
            If you’ve ever had the privilege to explore his many writings, it becomes obvious that his mind expanded with every piece as he completed each chapter in his life. Each giving a glimpse into the things he might have believed about the world.
            But what would such an intelligent, insightful man think about those subjects often classified as paranormal today?  None of us can know for sure, but a couple of his quotes offer a glimpse:
“When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries of life disappear and life stands explained.”

UFO spotted in NJ - Photo

Photo was taken on  May 21, 2012 in Clifton, NJ. Here is what was reported about the photo:
"I was distracted by an image on an oil truck driving ahead of me. I was able to get a quick picture of it as I was driving. After observing the picture later in the day I noticed something in the top corner of the shot. It looked like an oval shape that didn’t seem to be any type of familiar object. After zooming in to get a better look, it occurred that the object looked similar to a UFO.

After viewing the picture a few times I was unable to come to any other conclusion. I believe I captured the image of a UFO passing over RT 3 in Clifton, NJ. I returned to the site several hours later to see if the object was still there but it was gone." - MUFON CMS

New Hope for Bigfoot DNA results


There is now new hope for some bigfoot DNA results later this year.
While Dr. Ketchum and her DNA paper seem to be forever hung in limbo and them forever twiddling their thumbs , The University of Oxford is now taking DNA samples and have a time table for publishing results.

Oxford-Lausanne Collateral Hominid Project is now accepting DNA samples and here is how to submit a sample to them.

OLCHP mission statement - As part of a larger enquiry into the genetic relationship between our own species Homo sapiens and other hominids, we invite submissions of organic material from formally undescribed species, or “cryptids”, for the purpose of their species identification by genetic means.

SAMPLE SUBMISSION Sample submissions are invited from institutions and individuals. In the first instance, please send details of the material you would like to submit to one of the Principal Investigators. These should include:
  • Your name, institutional affiliation (if any), postal and email addresses and other contact details.
  • A physical description of the specimen: (Hair, tooth etc). Photographs welcome.
  • Its provenance: A short account of the origin of the sample, when and where (with coordinates if known) it was collected and how it came to be in your possession.
  • Identification: Your opinion of its likely species identification, and your reasons.
  • Authority: A statement that you are entitled to send the specimen for analysis and that we have permission to publish the results.

    In order to avoid misidentification of samples due to contamination, our preferred material is hair, although tissues will be considered.

    After reviewing your submission, we will send you a sampling kit with instructions. Please do not send any materials without first hearing from us. They will not be analyzed nor returned.

    You may choose whether to be identified as the donor of the sample, or to remain anonymous.
 
TimetableThe project is divided into three phases.
  • SAMPLE SUBMISSION PHASE May – September 2012
  • DNA ANALYSIS PHASE September – November 2012
  • PUBLICATION PHASE November – December 2012
 
 
 
DNA ANALYSIS At the end of the submission phase, the most promising samples will be selected for DNA analysis. You will not be charged for the analysis. Unselected samples will be returned.

The process of DNA analysis is destructive. Any unused material from selected samples will be returned or, if you prefer, will be submitted for curation as part of the Bernard Heuvelmans Cryptozoology archive in Lausanne.

PUBLICATION PHASE
Results from DNA analysis will be prepared for publication in a peer-reviewed science journal. No results will be released until any embargoes on publication have passed.

TCC - It seems they at least have plan and a time frame in which the project will be completed. This could be a saving grace type of thing for hope of a bigfoot DNA paper in the year 2012.
So with any luck either this or the Ketchum paper will come out before the years end.Then who knows maybe we get lucky and they both will come out.
