Sasquatch Identity Crisis?

Just Who Are The Hairy Ones Really?

By Dorraine Fisher (TCC Team Member)

Just exactly what is a Sasquatch?
Maybe you don’t believe all the hoopla about Bigfoot being close to a human being and possessing human or even superhuman qualities, but continuing primate research inadvertently suggests otherwise.
Even with all the new evidence pouring in every day, it’s probably safe to say that the mystery of Sasquatch is going to keep us all guessing for a very long time. Although we’ve learned a lot about them (we think) in the past few years, given their obviously superior intelligence, the possibility of anyone becoming a true sasquatch expert is a few years down the road at least. And it leaves us with the question: “Who are the elusive hairy ones? And what can we learn about ourselves from them?”
Many Native American tribes that tell stories of sasquatches refer to the creature as “man” or “people” or “brother” suggesting they believe the creature to be a relative of humans or a fellow human in a slightly different form. But there is always at least some truth in legends, and with all the new physical findings of blood, hair, and skin samples, it’s been suggested in some circles that they may be our closest living relative found to date. Only time and research will tell.
But there may be a lot we may be able to learn about them now if we start looking in the right places.  And it could be done to a certain degree without securing a living specimen in a cage or a body on the examination table. We can start by taking a long look at the closest living relatives that we know about right now: chimpanzees.
Chimps share about 97% of our DNA structure, and in studies conducted over a period of years, anthropologists are finding that these cousins of ours are more human in behavior than we ever imagined.
Professor Richard Wrangham, and anthropologist at Harvard University along with many other researchers like Jane Goodall accumulated nearly 151 years of study of ape behaviors including hierarchy, grooming, relationships, courtships, obtainment of food, etc. And they came to some startling conclusions.
Researchers found that chimps, as well as other apes, shake their heads in a gesture of “no” and really mean no in the same sense we do. They laugh out loud when tickled, have the ability to pick a face out of a crowd, and when they’re given human toys to play with, choose the toys specific to their gender. Young female apes picked dolls and young males picked the toy trucks.
They also display a strong sense of morality when treated unfairly and, when they need comfort, choose to eat the junk food instead of other more healthy foods. And chimps honor a kind of “police force” within their groups that make sure all other members of the group follow the rules.
And ape behaviors and cultures seem to vary from one region of the planet to another. They adapt to different environments and utilize objects and tools in their surroundings slightly different from region to region, much like our human ancestors were said to have adapted to their varying environments. And they teach their offspring the same skills and rituals developing a type of culture that’s unique to apes in that particular area.  Professor Wrangham believed that this was the precursor to the development of the varying, complex cultures of humans around the world.
So what does this say about us and our hairy counterparts?
If sasquatches do indeed share a more common DNA structure with humans than these other apes as is theorized, how many more human like traits do they possess? If they are the most intelligent ape second only to humans as we believe, how far apart are we from them on the genetic scale? If we take a long, hard look at the apes we’ve come to know and understand, not very much.*******

New Hampshire
Ok, I was contacted by Jay Willey (not his real name)  and he stated that he thought he had a bigfoot sighting today.
Here is his encounter:

Jay Willey - "While walking the dog on my road at about about 2:00 pm, I noticed the dog, Midas, acting strangely. I thought there might be coyotes around, since I hear them almost every night. I heard what I thought was a tree knock two times, we kind of  froze, Midas was growling deeply and rather quietly, and I looked at him, he was trembling a lot.
I spoke to him (He's usually very well behaved) but he ignored me and just stared into the woods and shook. I reached down an touched him, he jumped, looked at me, then started looking back out over the marsh and continued to shake.
I looked in the direction he was interested in, and saw nothing at first. I thought I noticed slight movement in one area, so I looked hard at that general area.
At a range of about 100-125 feet, I noticed a figure in the brush, took out my phone and took a picture at as much zoom as the phone would.
After about 30 seconds, and watching the figure move a few inches back and forth, I saw the figure stand upright,I about passed out.
From the distance I was at, it appeared to be about 3 feet across at the shoulders, in the area of 7-8 feet in height. I would estimate 600-750 lbs. The upper body was massive, barrel chest, huge arms, no apparent neck. I noticed a slightly cone-shaped head, and hands that was down past the waist, It looked like the elbows were a bit below the waistline, but hard to tell.
It was at this point that I was frozen as well as my dog, I was trying to compute what I was seeing in rural New Hampshire. It looked at me for just a second and turned away and walked away from me at an alarming speed, considering the terrain. I lost sight of it in 2-3 seconds, and listened for it, I heard some slight rustling of branches which faded to silence. I tried getting a picture of it in motion, but i was shaking at this point.
I took the dog home and returned about an hour later. I was wearing rubber boots due to the standing water I saw, so I walked in towards the area that I saw the figure. It appeared that the water was 12-16 inches deep, so I waded on  into it.
After I made it about 10 feet into the marshy area, I plunged up to my armpits in the cold water. I am a 6 foot-4 inch man.... I was shocked by the depth and temperature of the water, but I waded further towards where the figure was, determined to see what I could find .
I could see where there was grass parted and trampled in the area where this thing was.
However, there didn't appear to be any relief from this depth of  water in that area, and I was concerned about hypothermia, so I left and went home.
Considering the depth of the water, and the fact that I saw this figure stand, and could see from the waist up, I'd say that it may have been 8-9 feet tall to be able to have that much out of this water."
TCC -  This is a very creditable person from what I know of them. With this thing being in the marsh I would guess it was either eating some kind of roots off of water plants or possibly drinking water.
We have plans of setting up a game cam in the area and hope to have some follow up info.
Now I will post the Pictures and the enhanced versions. (You may have to click the "read more" to see them)

TCC - Once again it is proven that Bob Heironimus  was not the "guy in the suit" in the Patterson film.

"Here we explore the difference between our walk and whomever or whatever it was walking in the Patterson Bigfoot Film."
It does make me wonder if a person running would reach the 73 degrees mark?
I do not know who ThinkerThunker is but this seems to be a new approach to looking at the Patterson film. This should also become a learning video for all researchers.

WASHINGTON (AP) — An impressive solar flare is heading toward Earth and could disrupt power grids, GPS and airplane flights.

Forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center said the sun erupted Tuesday evening and the effects should start smacking Earth late Wednesday night, close to midnight EST. They say it is the biggest in five years and growing.

The magnetic storm has the potential to trip electrical power grids. Its radio emissions can disrupt global positioning systems to make them less accurate. It also could damage satellites. Scientists said communication problems and radiation from the storm will probably force airplanes to avoid flying over the north and south poles. Colorful auroras may be more visible.

Time - Bigfoot Real!
Can We All Relax After Dr. Ketchum’s Results?
by
Dorraine Fisher

It’s no secret in the Sasquatch community that if you dare to enter into the realm of Bigfoot, you enter sensitive territory. You have those who have witnessed the hairy ones first hand. They know what they saw and they certainly don’t like to be called liars, or worse, crazy.  And then you have the journalists, researchers, and photo analysts who simply must scrutinize every piece of evidence that comes their way with the determination of an IRS auditor. But they do so in order to keep the research valid and credible. And they don’t want to be made a fool. All sides must tread lightly. So when Dr. Ketchum comes through with her DNA paper and proves the existence of Sasquatches, hopefully without a shred of doubt left, can we all relax a little?
The answer is yes and no. On one hand, thousands of eye witnesses will be vindicated. No one will be able to call them crazy anymore. Many may still be called liars, but the word “crazy” can be eliminated from the equation. But when its existence is proven and no one’s afraid of being called crazy, many more stories may pour in for researchers to record and analyze. It’s very possible that a lot more people may jump on the Bigfoot bandwagon. And it remains to be seen whether this will be good or bad for the species and the research.
But on the other hand science will take all this more seriously and all the hard work done by members of the community will be validated. Scientists have been almost completely absent from the community until recently. It’s been all the “hiking boots on the ground” types, the regular Joes and Janes, who’ve walked sometimes dangerous wilderness areas in the dark of night in all kinds of weather conditions, pointing a camera in every direction while often finding nothing, that have made this all possible. It’s all those who’ve tirelessly set up sound recorders and trail cams every day, scanned hundreds of miles of ground for a single footprint or sat crouched for hours under camouflage just to get the right picture that might make the world believe.
And my guess is that none of this will stop after the results are in. There will still be researchers scanning the woods, and there will probably still be hoaxers out there looking to make a quick buck with their fake photos and videos. All this while science tries to gain its footing on the subject and produce some solid evidence with possibly a Jane Goodall approach.
But we’ve learned a lot in a short time on this quest. And everyone deserves credit for all they’re hard work. You knew Bigfoot was real the whole time, and you spent your life trying to prove it. And even though it’s a bit tragic that, even after thousands of sightings by credible eye witnesses that told the same stories time and time again, you still had to work like a dog to prove what you already knew.
But now maybe you can take comfort in the fact that those hard, stressful days are gone for good.
Maybe now you can at least relax a little in knowing that none of your work or emotional investment
was in vain. You knew it all the time or you wouldn’t have done it.

Bigfoot Witness Interview | Graham Snyder | Ep.3

The Crypto Crew Interview series
 Graham Snyder Ep.3
Interview conducted by TCC Team Member Jimmy Craze
In this Episode, Graham tells about a couple of friends who had a wild night while camping.

Here is Episode 3

Monday, March 5, 2012

Chupacabras had fangs, claws and wings.

Did a legendary chupacabras kill 35 sheep in the Mexican town of Paracuaro? That's what local citizens want to know as they ponder the mysterious deaths of their farm animals.
According to the UFO Chronicles website, the Mexican state Michoacan's Diario ABC reported that the unfortunate sheep were slain in the wee hours of March 1 with their bodies displaying claw and tooth injuries, especially under the neck.
One man who was looking after the sheep in their pens said he saw the creature responsible for the attacks. He reportedly said it had fangs, claws and wings.
The enclosure where the sheep lived also included cows, horses and pigs, which apparently weren't injured in the attack.
TCC -  I think this is the first Winged Chupacabra report...at least in 2012. I wonder if this is something new or just some kind of misidentification.

Oetzi the Iceman
New evidence published by Nature magazine leads to some interesting insights into the life, health and lifestyle of the ancient Ice Man found in the Alps - Oetzi. DNA research has been carried out on what must be the most-studied corpse in history and the genome has been sequenced, leading to some startling revelations.
Oetzi, 5,300 years old, was found by mountain hikers in the Italian-Austrian Alps in 1991. Well preserved in ice, the body has provided some important information on pre-historic man. Now, we examine the man himself.
Nature magazine brings the news that the entire DNA sequence of Oetzi the Iceman from Tyrol has been published in Nature Communications and that the study of the genome gives important information as to the iceman's relations: from Sardinia and Corsica.
Oetzi had tattoos, he had tooth cavities, he had hardening of the arteries and before he died, he ate a nice meal of ibex - then he was felled with an arrow in the back. It is not clear whether he died from this or from severe head trauma - either he hit his head when he fell some distance after being shot with the arrow, or else died a violent death when his head was smashed by an assailant.
Albert Zink, head of the Institute for Mummies and the Iceman in Bolzano, Italy, leader of the sequencing study, stated to Nature: "We would like to know as much as possible about his living conditions, about himself and also his cause of death. We really tried to reconstruct a crime scene as much as possible".
The DNA sequence was taken from Oetzi's cellular mitochondria in 2008, and contained mutations which are no longer found today, making experts conclude that Oetzi came from a tribe or people that had since disappeared. The team led by Zink got further information by studying cells taken from a piece of Oetzi's pelvic bone, containing 96% of the Iceman's genome.
This led to the discovery that he had brown eyes, type O blood, was lactose intolerant, was athletic and active and almost certainly had Lyme disease (Tick fever). It also led to the discovery that the mutations in his Y chromosome are most common among men from the Mediterranean Isles of Corsica and Sardinia, where it is known there was a prehistoric civilization, which at one time was present across the European Continent and disappeared, except on those two islands.
Nature quotes Copenhagen University palaeogenomicist Eske Willerslev, who states: "Sardinians are a group that people have considered distinct from other Europeans, and in this regard it would be interesting if they were more widely distributed in the past".

TCC -  I just wanted to share this because of the DNA talk and it being from Nature Magazine. Nature Magazine has been rumored to be the mag that will publish the DNA findings on the Bigfoot samples. Dr. Ketchum has stated it will not be in Nature Magazine, just for the record.
It's Amazing what details have been found out about the "iceman" and it makes me hopefully about the Bigfoot DNA.
TCC -  I would think this is some kind of space Junk but still interesting. I wonder if anyone will come forward and claim it.

TCC -  This is an interesting video and seems very believable. I hope to do some kind of analysis of this video in the coming days.
Here is what the descriptions said:
" I wish to thank all the people who helped recover my Dad from the woods at Salt Fork state park on Saturday night. He had gone off alone on his research again and got attacked by something out there. He was very shaken up but other wise he is fine, thank goodness he had his cell phone and was able to use it. As we were leaving the hospital after he got checked out he ask me if I could upload these clips on You Tube for him."

This clip was uploaded by Uploaded by   back in Aug. of 2011.

It's kind of scary if you think about it ...If a bigfoot decided to attack you theres not  a lot a person could do about it.
I sure would like to know more about this video. It seems by what the man is saying that he may have some pictures or other videos from this area. If so I'd like to see them, so feel free to contact me.

 Graham Snyder Ep.2
Interview conducted by TCC Team Member Jimmy Craze

Here is Episode 2
Bigfoot watching TV
Does Bigfoot like to watch TV?
Does Bigfoot Like To Watch TV?

By TCC Team Member Dorraine Fisher
Professional Writer, a nature and wildlife enthusiast who has written for many magazines.

Bigfoot researcher, Stan Courtney of stancourtney.com has been doing some great work in his home territory of central Illinois. He works mostly with sound recordings, and he does a lot of his best work right in his own remote back yard. He’s recorded some interesting sounds back there and made some curious observations.
It seems he’s had a couple of reports in his area about some creature looking in a window when the homeowners were watching their favorite TV shows. One couple caught sight of the large, hairy creature peaking in their bedroom window. And another found some very large footprints in a flower bed outside their living room window.  But both families had their TV’s positioned within view and it’s believed they were the main attractant.
And when Courtney moved into his new house in the country a couple of years ago, he installed some nice extra-large glass doors  in the back so he’d have a great view of his expansive wooded yard and all its wildlife.  But he might not have imagined what this would bring him.
As he sat there every night in his living room watching sitcoms on his big TV, his recorder was doing its job outside the house in the dark yard. It seems that Courtney doesn’t use security lights outside, and his yard is far from any roads or any other lights.
For a long time, he didn’t get much of anything. But he kept the recorder running. And in  November of last year, that began to change. When he listened to some new recordings, he was a bit puzzled.  The first sounded like sad, mournful type of cry, that didn’t sound like any other animal in the area he could identify. But the second and third recording caused great curiosity. The second recording sounded like a laugh; a loud laugh that Courtney believes may be the creature mimicking him when he laughs at the sitcoms on TV.
But the third recording is the most intriguing of all. It sounds much like a muffled radio announcer or TV show. And Courtney believes it may be the creature mimicking what his TV would sound like from the outside of the house from where a creature would be listening.
Now keep in mind that Courtney is an avid hiker and is very well-versed in the sounds of all the local wildlife---and domestic animals. But the one thing that may have cemented this all in his mind is when he was exploring his back yard one day. He found a compressed area of ground, a possible nesting spot, where he believes the creature might have been sleeping. And curiously, he tried it out for himself only to find that, from that spot, he had a great view through his picture window of his own TV.
Now there are some who will speculate and criticize and try to offer any other explanation for these findings. But whatever you might think, Courtney has given real cause to believe that Bigfoot not only likes to watch TV, but he may very well be a pretty talented sound impressionist too.

You can check out Courtney’s website and listen to Voices In The Woods 1, 2, and 3 here:
