Running time:86 minutes
Not Rated

This film is directed by Duane Graves and Justin Meeks, but probably the most recognizable name associated with the film is Kim Henkel. Henkel is probably most known for his work on the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre but also worked on other notable films such as: Eaten Alive, The Unseen, and Leatherface, Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, just to name a few.

Another interesting aspect to the film is that it is based on a real legend and true events. The Wild Man of the Navidad legend is believed to be one of the first sightings of Bigfoot in Texas. It was first widely reported in 1837 throughout the early settlements along the Navidad River bottoms, circa the modern-day town of Sublime, Texas, in Lavaca County.  The movie is based around this legend and around the journals of Texan Dale S. Rogers.

As, you can see the film has a lot going for it and it appears the research has been done. I can tell you that I did enjoy the film, even though I understand many will not. The film has an overall 70's feeling to it, which again may not be appealing to some, but I liked it. The film is what many would consider very low budget. It is rather slow moving but I still found the characters interesting enough to keep me watching. While watching the film there is a sense that you are just watching normal people doing things they do everyday.

Another aspect of the film, that I liked, was the fact that there was only a handful of professional actors and some of the cast was made up from local town folks. While again, this may seem to be something not good, it works out very well. In fact, one of the best performances was by Edmond J. Geyer, a local, who plays the sheriff in the movie. He does a very solid acting job, as do several others. Even the narrator, William 'Mac' McBride, done an amazing job and he was another local person who not only did the narration but played in the film.

The Wild man/Bigfoot is where the film was a little disappointing for me. The suit is noting more than various animal skins sewn together and is just not bigfoot looking to me. While this may have been the plan, I can't help but think the limited budget played a part in the wild man costume.

The heart of the film is old classic drive-in horror movie from the 70's and on that point it succeeds. I know many will dislike this film just because of it's low budget and slow pace. People looking for a really good bigfoot movie, will probably be disappointed in this film as well. So, even though I liked the film, I know most people will not and for that fact I have given it a lower score. I guess I appreciated it for the historical documentation and the classic horror feel, more than most will. The film has a Legend of Boggy Creek type appeal to it with sprinkles of humor. The DVD version I used for this review has some very good extra features. One in particular was of the locals talking about being in the movie. So, if you do end up watching this film, make sure to watch the special features.

This film is definitely not for everyone.
Here is my final rating.
Rating: 2 out of 5

Thanks

The Crypto Files - Bigfoot Scream (Ep12)

This is a special episode of The Crypto Files. In this episode, we feature a recently recorded primal scream. The scream was recorded by the bigfooting duo of Corey and Tye.  They have been researching Bigfoot and other cryptids in the state of Iowa for a long time now. They have documented various pieces of evidence over the years.

The duo thinks this particular scream was made by a female bigfoot.

This photo is thought to be a promotional picture for a film.

With my recent report, from Roger in Michigan, of a possible Thunderbird sighting. I did just a little digging on the internet looking for past reports of the giant bird. I ran across a report from Alaska that I had not seen before. I thought it might be a good idea to share that report here. I take no credit for this report, as it was not sent to me, but it appeared in the Anchorage Daily News and was written by Peter Porco.

Here is the newspaper write up.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A giant winged creature, like something out of Jurassic Park, has reportedly been sighted several times in Southwest Alaska in recent weeks.

Villagers in Togiak and Manokotak say they have seen a huge bird that's much bigger than anything they have seen before.

A pilot says he spotted the creature while flying passengers to Manokotak last week. He calculated that its wingspan matched the length of a wing on his Cessna 207. That's about 14 feet.

Other people have put the wingspan in a similar range.

Scientists aren't sure what to make of the reports. No one doubts that people in the region west of Dillingham have seen a very large rapto-like bird. But biologists and other people familiar with big Alaska birds say they're skeptical it's that big.

A recent sighting of the mystery bird occurred Oct. 10 when Moses Coupchiak, a 43-year-old heavy equipment operator from Togiak, 40 miles west of Manokotak, saw the bird flying toward him from about two miles away as he worked his tractor.

"At first I thought it was one of those old-time Otter planes," Coupchiak said. "Instead of continuing toward me, it banked to the left, and that's when I noticed it wasn't a plane."

The bird was "something huge," he said. "The wing looks a little wider than the Otter's, maybe as long as the Otter plane."

The bird flew behind a hill and disappeared. Coupchiak got on the radio and warned people in Togiak to tell their children to stay away.

Pilot John Bouker said he was highly skeptical of reports of "this great big eagle" that is two or three times the size of a bald eagle. "I didn't put any thought into it."

But early this week while flying into Manokotak, Bouker, owner of Bristol Bay Air Service, looked out his left window and 1,000 feet away, "there's this big ... . bird," he said.

"The people in the plane all saw him," Bouker said. "He's huge, he's huge, he's really, really big. You wouldn't want to have your children out."

Nicolai Alakayak, a freight and passenger driver from Manokotak who was flying with Bouker, said the creature looked like an eagle and was as large as "a little Super Cub."

Comparison to an eagle, certainly. Super Cub? Probably not, scientists said.

"I'm certainly not aware of anything with a 14-foot wingspan that's been alive for the last 100,000 years," said federal raptor specialist Phil Schemf in Juneau.

Schemf, other biologists, a village police officer and teachers at the Manokotak School said the sightings could be of a Steller's sea eagle, a species native to northeast Asia and one of the world's largest eagles. It's about 50 percent bigger than a bald eagle.

The wingspan is right in line with not only Roger's recent report, but many others. I'm sure there are some misidentifications in some of the reports, but it would seem logical to think that there has to be something to them.

Thanks

General area of the sighting.

Possible Thunderbird Report and Witness Interview

The following is a combination of a submitted report, an email exchange, and a witness phone interview. The witness had two separate sightings of a possible Thunderbird. The Thunderbird is described as a large bird-like creature that is normally tied to Native American tradition. Fossil records do show that giant birds with a wing span between 12 and 18 feet did exist. The Thunderbird is largely thought of as a myth nowadays, but reports of sightings keep being documented from time to time.

Here is the report and interview with Robert.

Is This Champ? The Legendary “Monster” of Lake Champlain?
By Dorraine Fisher

Lake Champlain is a 125 mile (201 km) long strip of freshwater lake located between New York State and Vermont, extending all the way up into Quebec, Canada. It is named for Samuel De Champlain, the founder of Quebec. But the most intriguing thing about it is the legend of Champ, the monster that’s believed to live in the lake.

Many believe the creature could possibly be a relic plesiousaur, a dinosaur believed to have become extinct during the early part of the Jurassic period, but somehow managed to survive after the lake dried up somewhat and was cut off from the larger body of salt water which included the Atlantic Ocean.

Many people in the area believe the stories are just legend with no real basis except to boost tourism around the lake. But since Champlain’s time, there have been hundreds of supposed sightings.
One of the most notable scientists searching for evidence of Champ’s existence is Scott Mardis who has graciously allowed me to share this with our followers. According to Mardis, a man named Eric Olson was out taking his morning walk in Oakledge Park near Burlington, Vermont , when he captured this video on his cell phone.
Let us know what you think.

My Crypto World - Bigfoot and the Nephilim

Here in episode 7, I talk about one of the more popular theories about bigfoot. Many feel that bigfoot is connected to the Nephilim.
Plus I cover some more topics.

I was just recently sent the above photo by Ryan. It was taken in Maryland on 4/26/16. Some may not know there is a legend of a goatman in Maryland. We also have a very similar legend here in Kentucky. If you have seen the news recently, you might have seen that we had a woman killed while researching the Kentucky Goatman legend. The lady and her boyfriend were from Ohio and were investigating the Kentucky Goatman. You can read that story Here or just search the web for it.

As for this new report from Maryland, I was contacted by Ryan via email. He also sent me two photos that he took. I will include various enhancements in this post. Here is what he told me about his sighting.

Mysterious Camp Beauregard

The Camp Beauregard Memorial, outside Water Valley, Kentucky on Kentucky state road 2422 northeast of town, marks the site of Camp Beauregard during the American Civil War. It was named for Confederate General P. G. T. Beauregard. It was situated to protect the right flank of the Confederate base at Columbus, Kentucky.

While an active military installation, from September 1861 to March 1, 1862, it trained 5,000-6,000 soldiers for the Confederate States of America.

However, the place was disease-ridden, resulting in 1,000-1,500 deaths at the camp. The diseases included cerebrospinal meningitis, pneumonia, and typhoid fever with poor weather and lack of sufficient supplies for the troops contributing to the dire situation. In a single day, 75 cases of typhoid and pneumonia were reported.

Under the direction of the 27th Tennessee Regiment's Colonel Thomas Logwood, the camp was burned down. Union forces captured the site shortly after the abandonment.

A monument was erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1909 to commemorate the soldiers that died there and supposedly, some 900 soldiers are buried in a mass grave under the monument…..but some folks say those soldiers are STILL THERE today?

Here is an experience from my friend, Dana M.:

My best experience: I was with a group of friends at night. It was very late. We all branched off wandering around reading headstones. I went off to myself.

I was standing reading a large monument and the name "Dorothy" screamed in my head. It was weird. I turned around and when I shined my light on the headstone behind me her name was Dorothy. It was surreal.

We heard the beast and ran to the car and left. These events are all separate nights. The last time I went my friend Bob was in town. I had not seen him in 25 years. We went to the cemetery. He also went with another group. This was in August of 2012. In March of 2014, he died in his sleep.
My other friend Karen and I went as a group and took pictures. About three months later she died on her living room floor. I will not go back I'm also very ill but that's another novella.”

Other reports include:
One person explains he has seen lights dancing on some of the headstones and seeing various dark figures running through the graves only to vanish.

There’s also a black beast-like figure that supposedly will chase visitors in an attempt to make them leave.

One night, two individuals said the “beast” followed them for several miles before flooding their car with an over-whelming scent of cinnamon before vanishing.

Also, there are reports of people hearing combat sounds, including what has been described as the sound of sabers clashing.

Around the Campfire - Can we really Believe Our Eyes?

When we see something, can we really trust our eyes to tell us the truth? More importantly, do our eyes tell us something that can be interpreted exactly the same by everyone?

This is a big problem in cryptid and paranormal research as well as every disagreement known to humankind.  Everyone has a different view. Why is that?

New Possible Sighting in Oregon

On or around January 14,2016 at around 7:15 am a man named Chris was taking his daughter to the bus stop when he looked in his rear view on the way out of his driveway and seen what he thought may have been a bear standing on two legs watching them go down the driveway. He stated that there had been bear there before because they live off the grid that sometimes they store food items outdoors.

After speaking to me he was then sure he had seen a bigfoot instead since it had longer legs and much more size than a black bear.

Although he had seen it in the mirror he was sure about it now. Since this encounter they hear occasional noises not of the norm and have been smelling a sulfur/ wet animal odor from time to time. Area near the sighting, so as not to pinpoint his home.
2184-2514 Lees creek road, Myrtle creek, Oregon 97457.
Gps 43.1326425,-123.1493605

Corinna and I have explored this area quite a few times with one actual sighting in 2004 and juvenile tracks another time. Chris lives on the same road as we do but a few more miles deeper in the forest. This story will be continued as we establish a better relationship with Chris and his daughter.

The investigation is ongoing, look for an update in the future.
