track from trackline
Bigfoot track

Just thought I'd share a photo of a bigfoot track. This was from a track line I found in 2013. There was a bigfoot sighting and as I investigated the area, which was pretty remote, I was able to fine a track line containing around 10-12 tracks. I later found another track line in the same area and I sure it was made by the same bigfoot. This sighting and investigation took place in Kentucky.

This was the #6 print in the first Track line. I know it is a little hard to see due to the lighting. I did manage to make one casting of what I thought was the best track. The track was roughly 14 inches long and 7 inches wide.

I was also able to find several single tracks in the same area. The foot impressions were roughly twice as deep as my foot track. Which to me would indicate the creature was about twice my weight, making it around 600 pounds. I also found many tree breaks and other stick anomalies.

Thanks
~Tom~

Stick formation
"I thought I'd found something in one of my research areas. On first sight, this structure, made from large broken branches 10 to 12 feet up off the ground, does not look naturally made, and there have been numerous sightings reports in this area, some footprints and sound recordings taken of unusual activity. But I found nothing else in the area around this structure, and upon examining it again, I decided the branches could have dropped into this configuration. It's interesting, but I had to conclude it could have been made naturally."

Stick Structures – Evidence Or Controversy?
Here’s How To Tell
By Dorraine Fisher

Almost daily, someone will send me a picture of what they believe might be a stick structure built by a Bigfoot. These are those strange configurations made from trees and tree branches, often found deep in the woods, (but not always) that defy explanation and could not have been created by humans or natural means. Some can be as large and elaborate, and others are smaller (as simple as a stick stuck in the ground) and appear to serve no practical purpose.

Researchers believe they may be some kind of landmarks sasquatches use to signal, warn, or otherwise inform other sasquatches of something. Some are also believed to be created by juvenile sasquatches. But when researchers bring us these pictures of these structures, the first question we have to ask a lot of questions and ask for more detailed research in the area they’re found.

Stick formation
"X" made with broken branches
Stick structures create some serious controversy in the world of cryptid research. If you spend a lot of time in the woods, you know nature and the weather can do some weird things to everything out there. And this often makes these structures just too hard to recognize as anything authentic. And in the case of sasquatch research, you have to have your research in order, or face a lot of criticism.

Found in Russia
Found in Russia
So if you do a lot of hiking in the wooded areas, near a good water source, teeming with deer and lush vegetation, and you come across one of these structures, how do you tell if it’s something to get excited about?

The answer is, you can’t. Not without a shadow of a doubt. But there are some signs to look for in these structures and that can point you to other, more tangible evidence in the area.

1. Are the sticks used for the structure broken and not cut, as with human tools? This might seem like a stupid question, but needs to be checked in the case of thorough research.

2. If the sticks forming the structure are broken and not cut, how big are they? Are they big enough that even a strong human could not break them, as is the case with small trees which are seen broken off in some research areas?

3. Are the trees in the area of the structure broken off at a height above the height of any human, meaning over seven feet high where no human could easily reach?

4. Have the sticks been used in unusual configurations? Or have they been intertwined or even woven into each other and appear they were intended to be semi-permanent?

5. Was the structure found in a remote area where less human foot traffic is found? This is not always the case in stick structures, but is one factor in helping determine its authenticity. They are more often found in areas far away from normal human occupation.

6. And has there been a credible bigfoot sighting in the area? We find that these structures can appear in areas where there have been recent sightings or other strange activity reported.

And then there are so many variables. Juvenile sasquatches might possibly build "practice structures" with small sticks, easier for a human to duplicate. Some could have been created naturally by falling from the trees in certain configurations. And number of factors can weigh in to the final product.

So, if you’ve seen these structures in the woods, other research in the area is necessary in order to affirm they might be the real thing. Extensive, meticulous work needs to be done to find possible prints, hair, sound recordings, video, local sightings reports, or photos of something else in the area that would make these structures more credible as real evidence of sasquatch habituation.

Otherwise, the structures themselves are not enough. It can take years of research, observation, and time in the woods studying nature in order to be able to conclude credibly that a structure may have been made by a sasquatch. So it’s very important to do thorough research, be objective, and ask an awful lot of questions. ******DF

I got in another local bigfoot sighting report and wanted to share it with everyone. I know they are here and I'm glad some of our local people are contacting me.

-Start Report -
Name: James *******
Email Address: Withheld
State: ky
County: bell county
Date of Sighting: 2006 or 7
Time of Day: 12 am
Nearest Town: Cardinal Rd (No towns in this area -TM)
Length of Sighting: about a min or less
How many Witnesses: 1
Any Photos/Videos: none
Describe sighting in detail:
"I was walking at night at about 10pm with my family. We was just going for a walk  and then I looked up by the strip job and seen something standing there it was about 6 or 7ft tall, black in color and just standing there watching us, but when I said look it was gone, I don't know for sure what I seen but it was big and black. I do know it was not a dog or something because it was on two legs!!!"

- End Report -

This got me to thinking about other sightings and activity in this area. I have found many signs in this area that bigfoot is around. Such things as tree breaks and twist and even a large "X" formation. So I thought I would plot a map of this general area. All of this is within 1 mile tops. The one sighting is from back in the 40's but the others are much more recent.

Thanks

Thunderbird Sighting in Nebraska

Name: Ashley *********
Email Address: Withheld
State: Nebraska
County:
Date of Sighting: Summer in mid 1990
Time of Day: late afternoon
Nearest Town: York
Length of Sighting: about 2 minutes
How many Witnesses: 4
Any Photos/Videos: no
Describe sighting in detail:

"Mom, Dad, my brother and myself were on the front porch at the end of the day. It was very quiet. All of a sudden you could hear this "whoooosh, whoooosh" starting quietly but increasing in volume. At it's loudest point a shadow fell over and covered the ENTIRE porch, and we looked up and could see in great detail a giant bird, completely black, with huge talons. It was very low to the ground, only mere FEET higher than our 1 story home. I remember the family being in complete shock, and shrinking back under the roof of the porch as it swooped a bit lower, then back up into the sky and headed west, disappearing over the trees. We will never forget this strange experience. We've told people about it. I just saw a thunderbird sighting on youtube, which led me here to report."

Thanks for the report Ashley.

Cuddly Creature vs Murderous Monster
Cuddly Creature VS. Murderous Monster

Bigfoot - Cuddly Creature vs. Murderous Monster

There seems to be two lines of thought concerning bigfoot's personality.  Hollywood and film makers almost always portray Bigfoot as a blood thirsty murderous monster. This has seemed to be pretty much the norm, from the 1970 film Bigfoot to more recent titles like 2009's, Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon. Even good 'ol boy John Schneider from Dukes of Hazard fame got in on the bigfoot films with Snow Beast.  Images and thoughts of a giant murderous monster in the woods has fascinated and frightened almost everyone at some point in their life. In some cases the movies even portray bigfoot as a sex crazed monster.

In most cases, movies about Bigfoot going on killing rampages have not been very good. How can anyone forget the horrible made for TV Syfy movie Bigfoot, oh it had several recognizable names in it, from Alice Cooper to Danny Bonaduce. It also had a much too large, CGI bigfoot. Sometime I wonder if anyone actually made it through the whole film and how such bad scripts even get funded.

Now, before anyone gets all hot and bothered, there have been some movies that portrayed bigfoot in a much better light. Who can forget the lovable film Harry and the Hendersons starring John Lithgow or the more recent Letters from the Big Man.

Monster in Bear Lake
Bear Lake Monster

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Bear Lake monster

The Legend of the Bear Lake monster comes from, you guessed it, Bear Lake. Bear Lake sit close to the Utah - Idaho Border.
According to an article from 1868, by Joseph C. Rice,  the local Indians called this creature "water devil" but once the white settlers had seen the creature it became known as the Bear Lake Monster. Later on Rice would admit he made up the original sightings. Lets call him an old school hoaxer.

But wait, that is not the end of the story, there continued to be reports of this lake monster. In 1937 a report came from a 4 year old boy about seeing the lake monster and then in 1946 a Boy Scout leader reported seeing the creature. The strangest report comes from 1907, when 2 men claimed to have seen the creature attack and kill one of their horses. It also appears that there are sighting reports from different areas of Utah, leading to the theory that the lakes might be connected by underground water channels.

There are also a few more recent reports of people claiming to have seen something strange in Bear Lake. In 2002, business owner Brian Hirsch claimed to have seen the creature.

Over the years the legend and folklore of Bear Lake Monster has continued to grow and has become a tourist attraction. There is a scenic boat tour that takes you out on the lake and talks about the monster. The legend grew even more when the Bear Lake monster was featured on Animal Plants Lost Tapes and SyFy's Haunted Highway season 1.

The description of the creature does vary, some describe it as crocodile like while others say it's kind of like a walrus without the tusk. Most reports do state that the creature can swim very fast and is very large, at least 90 feet long. The creature has been described as dark green with red eyes.

In 2011, the follow video was uploaded to youtube - is it just an effort to get more info or just to keep the legend alive, you can decide for yourself.

Home of a monster?

So what do you think?  is there some truth to the reports or is it all just made up?

Thanks

get to know your brain
Get to know your brain

How Your Mind Plays Tricks

5 Quirks of the Human Brain That Can Mess Up Your Perceptions

By Dorraine Fisher

As if there weren’t enough problems for those in the paranormal world trying to prove to others what’s real. As if there weren’t enough reasons for skeptics and naysayers to stay critical.

But when you’re on a quest for knowledge, it helps to have all the facts and all the roadblocks within your comprehension before you even start. And it’s especially true for sasquatch researchers. We need to know what could happen so we can make sure it doesn’t happen.

Before you even attempt to make a determination of what you’ve seen, you need to be aware that there are 5 key things that can mess up your perceptions. And you need to make doubly sure you understand these and can rule them out in any situation. So here goes:

    1. Pareidolia is the phenomenon in our brain that causes us to turn random visuals into something familiar. And we especially like to turn them into faces…even if those faces are distorted or unusual. We don’t really see with our eyes, we see with a part of our brain known as the visual cortex. And our brain, in an attempt to sort out something new or shocking that it sees, will attempt to relate it to something familiar. Faces are the most comforting and familiar thing to us, so naturally our brain chooses them to see…when maybe all we’re seeing is random objects.

    2. Slow motion perception is something we’ve all experienced at one time or another. It’s that strange feeling during a traumatic event that time is moving slower than regular time. No one really knows for sure what causes this phenomenon, but it is believed that, in an attempt of the brain to sort out what’s happening, it slows it down to a speed it can handle to break it all down, giving us the illusion of the event happening in slow motion. Though anyone else observing the event would see it in real time. It is believed that the more energy expended by neurons to process the event, the longer the time span will seem to the person experiencing it.
This can seriously distort our idea of how much time lapsed during a paranormal encounter. Since you’re the one that had the experience, it seemed much longer to you, when it may have only been a few seconds.

    3. False memories are a real problem in cases of traumatic events. Our brains don’t like things to be incomplete. So if we don’t recall certain details of an event, our brain will attempt to create details to fill in the gaps. We’re not always geared to do this, but it’s important to write down all the details of the event right after it happens in order to keep things straight. And even then, you might find the details are a little sketchy. And the worse thing about false memories is that someone can actually create them for you through the power of suggestion. If someone would show you a photoshopped picture of yourself at Woodstock, your brain will actually create a memory of the event, even though you were never there. You’ll come to believe it even though it never happened. The ultimate mind____. Try not to fall into this trap.

    4. Change blindness is a simple phenomenon but can profoundly affect what we see… or don’t see. The ability to detect change is a basic but very important function in our daily life. But if we’re focused on something, like something traumatic or scary, we’re likely to miss other important details of the scene; other changes that may be taking place in the background. Sometimes very important details. But scientists theorize that in order for our brains to process an event effectively, it must be able to focus on the central event itself. So it will allow the focus to simplify itself on what has our attention at the time. And other details will begin to blur. This is helpful in certain situations where we need to focus on one thing, but very difficult in a case of mayhem where we need to process more than one thing at a time. It appears that our brains weren’t quite designed for this, and we find chaotic scenes very overwhelming. We simply can’t process it all. The only change we can detect in the background is when something moves and diverts our attention. If nothing moves, our focus stays on the main event. And we can miss a lot of details when this happens.

    5. The McGurk Effect is the most confusing phenomenon of all. But in a nutshell, it’s a phenomenon of each of our senses perceiving something in a different way when each is allowed to work separately. And it can profoundly affect what we think we see or hear. So we have to be very careful and allow our senses to do their work and always keep this little brain quirk in mind when we recall events.

Watch this video about the McGurk Effect and you’ll see what I mean:

Looks like the Todd Standing hoax has been exposed (again). First it's his silly looking, glassed eyed bigfoot that Sweaty Yeti at Bigfoot Forums has proven to have been photoshopped (See above photo) and now his other bigfoot photo, which most people loved, has been debunked by Para Breakdown in the video below.  A very good effort from Sweaty Yeti and Para Phil. Nice job guys!

(If for some reason this video does not play Click Here! )
Now, this was all starting to get a big following despite what anyone could shows or say about Standing's history and background. It all had a smell of the Rick Dyer hoax, it's about the money. The fact Todd and his sister, Louise Standing own a production company and many other warning signs pointed out by Steve Kulls, made no difference in a lot of peoples minds. They would say "oh but he is teamed up with Les Stroud", well, if Les is truly interested in Bigfoot he could not have chosen a worse person to team up with.

some people see bigfoot in every photo

Seeing Faces in the Forest
The Real Purpose of Pareidolia?
By Dorraine Fisher

Pareidolia, to those familiar with it, has become kind of a bad word in the bigfoot world. It’s often described as the illusion or misperception of seeing faces in just about anything. Clouds, food, smoke, rocks. It doesn’t matter. And it’s one of the major factors the helps keep heated arguments going in bigfoot discussions in the analysis of supposed bigfoot photographs. And how many items have turned up on Ebay because they appeared to have the face of some significant or famous person? It seems it’s really easy for humans to see faces in everything, and bigfoot photographs often set off the pareidolia smoke detectors. Simply show some people a photograph of a supposed bigfoot, and they’ll often see ten more primate faces in the same photo.

Mental health professionals still use the old Rorschach inkblot test to determine the psychological state of an individual. It can be a valuable tool in analyzing the personal perceptions of patients. So if we experience pareidolia and we see a dozen sasquatches in a forest photo, does that mean we’re bordering on crazy?

Probably not.

There’s always a reason for our little idiosyncrasies…no matter how annoying they can be. Usually if all humans possess a certain trait, like pareidolia, you can bet it was adapted as some kind of survival mechanism that helped keep our tree swinging, cave dwelling ancestors alive. And in modern life, when human survival is redefined and it becomes a nuisance, we’ll just call it an illusion or an irritation. But is that really accurate?

Many scientists are now embracing a theory introduced by Carl Sagan. He believed that pareidolia evolved in us as a survival tool; the ability to readily distinguish friend from foe.

Of course, it had to be necessary. When they talk of it this way, it seems like a very basic, fundamental life skill. In the daily life of our forest dwelling ancestors, it was necessary to be able to recognize our parents, siblings, and other significant others in the dense foliage of the forest. Or anywhere else, for that matter. In order to hide or make our escape, we needed to be able to recognize our clan member’s or enemy’s faces very quickly. We needed to be able to always see faces no matter what, so we could either run away from them or run to them for safety.

We all unconsciously look for faces when we feel unsafe or anxious. But why then, do we see so many faces in everything? Too many faces?

Well, it could possibly be that in the course of our evolution, Mother Nature felt it was better for us to be designed to see far too many faces everywhere rather than to see none at all.

But does that mean those faces we or they see really don’t exist after all?

Not really. But it doesn’t mean they definitely do either. We should always try to be objective.

And maybe we’ll never know for sure, but maybe we shouldn’t be so hard on those who experience pareidolia. They may have an insight we don’t have. We’ve all experienced it at one time or another and it can be a great tool. And it’s one good example of where weird is actually normal. How often do we find living proof of that? ********DF

Bigfoot smoking a joint
Could Bigfoot like Marijuana?

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

Marijuana and Bigfoot

Marijuana is a hot topic right now and there is a big push to legalize it. Just turn on the TV, get on the internet or pick up a newspaper and you'll see marijuana is on the mind of a lot of people, but is it on the mind of Bigfoot?

I guess at this point most of you are wondering what marijuana has to do with bigfoot, well I have heard and been told about a few reports/stories about bigfoot liking marijuana.

I was told about a small group of people, who research bigfoot, who smoke pot to lure out the bigfoot in the area. It appears that in this area the bigfoot have grown to like the distinctive smell of a big ol fatty burning and come to get the contact buzz. The best I can figure is this exotic research tool has been used repeatedly in this area and continues to work.

Then there was this other story I heard about. It seems this small group of people grew a pretty big patch of marijuana out in the woods. They had constructed a make shift cabin to keep watch over their crop. The best I can remember they kept hearing strange sounds coming from the woods during the night. Then one morning as they were checking on their crops they noticed a pretty good patch of it was pulled up and taken. As they checked around for clues to who took it, they discovered several large foot tracks, to big to be a persons. The thought about this is that the group would gather in the small cabin and smoke joints and the smell must have attracted the bigfoot. The best I can recall, in the weeks after the plants were taken, there was also a couple sightings of what appeared to be a bigfoot at the edge of the woods.

So, I guess the question is do you think bigfoot could become addicted to Marijuana?  and has anyone used marijuana in their research of bigfoot and did it work? Does Bigfoot like a Big Fatty? Do they eat it to fight off sickness?

Marijuana in bigfoot research is nothing I would ever use, but I'm interested in hearing if others have tried it and the results.

If anyone has other stories about bigfoot liking or take marijuana, then please contact me.

Story Over View -

Brian Kingston, a captain with good intentions but a heavy drinking problem, jumps at the opportunity to make more money than he can imagine on a deep-sea dive aboard the search and rescue submarine, The Betty Loo. He quickly discovers just what he’s gotten himself, and his crew, into. The Betty Loo will be going to suicidal depths on a mission to rescue The Peacemaker, a sub once thought to be unsinkable. After receiving an anonymous threat on the day of departure, Brian is left with no choice but to continue on the mission.

But the depths of the sea aren’t the only problems ahead. Upon arrival to The Peacemaker, he realizes that though not all the bodies are dead, there is no one to rescue. The crewmembers, both old and new, have to trust one another and fight for their lives against the adapting undead or join them in the floating graveyard that is The Peacemaker.
Review -
Wow! The detail in describing the attacking zombies is second to none. As the zombies snap and rip the flesh of their victims it creates a good visual in your mind.
The author does an excellent job at creating the state of despair and just general creepiness. Romero would be proud.
What I guess I found most to my liking, other than the zombies, is that you get a good feel for the characters, their background and life issues that got them to their point in the story.
After reading their background, you can understand why some of them live in the shadows and partake of such suicide missions.
Imagine the feeling of being in a submarine full of zombies and under the darkness of the sea. The premise of the story is one of the factors that sets it apart from the crowded zombie field.
If you like zombies and who don't, this should be a good read for you. The zombie craze has caused a lot of subpar products to be released to the market, I'm happy to say this is well above most of them.

Home of Bigfoot?
Goethe State Forest

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

According to Denise DeChenes there are bigfoot in the Goethe State Forest in Florida.
DeChenes walks with her dog in the Goethe State Forest and says "“I hear them walking with me and I know they're there”.

She also stated she never believed in bigfoot until she started taking her walks in the woods a few years ago.

She even managed to get  this photographic of what she thinks is a bigfoot.

Bigfoot in Florida
Bigfoot?

While the photo may not convince anyone of bigfoot, Denise is totally convinced that bigfoot roams the Geothe State Forest. She may not be alone in her thinking as there are a few other reports posted on the BFRO's website. One of which was actually in Geothe State Forest.

According to the 2005 report two men were hiking when the saw 2 bigfoot, one large and one smaller, they were able to watch the creatures for around 15 minutes or more. They were also able to find 2 large foot tracks. The men also told of a very bad smell associated with the present of the bigfoot.

Plus there are several other reports from the area.

The Geothe State Forest is next to a 24,000 plus-acre Gulf Hammock Wildlife Management Area, which would make a very suitable home for bigfoot.

What do you think? Does Bigfoot call Florida home?

Thanks
