We recently took a trip to ride the train at Big South Fork Railway in Stearns, Ky.
We captured a strange orb like thing on two different cameras and I wanted to share the video.

It was about a 2 hour train ride. This was an old mining camp and at one point you go into a very small tunnel. We captured something just as we were going into the tunnel. Could it be a ghost orb from some long dead miner or railroad worker or is it just a bug? I really can't say for sure but wanted to share the video.
Thanks

White bigfoot seen in Cary
Cary, KY - Bell County
Again I know this is an old sighting but many have never read about it before. This is just adding more bigfoot sighting history to the area.

Where: Cary, KY (Bell County)
When: Late 1950's
Witnesses: 2
Creature: Standing
Details:
Two teenage boys were playing near coal mine when they noticed something standing right at the mouth of the mine.
It appeared to be a gray or white looking ape type animal but it was on two legs and it was standing with one arm hanging over a wooden cross timber, the cross timber would be about 8-9 feet tall. The two boys ran to tell parents but when they got back to the mines the creature was gone.

is this a real bigfoot

I'm not sure this is a real bigfoot but it is worth a deep look that is for sure.

The overall consensus is that it is fake. Fishermen took the pictures...seems odd that the bigfoot would hang around in different area getting his picture taken...plus compare the size of the figure to the shrubs and bushes ...it is small

Opinions welcomed about the photo
Thanks

The Scent Of A Sasquatch
What’s That Smell All About?
By TCC Team Member  Dorraine Fisher

With the now thousands of bigfoot sighting reports around North America, we can start to see patterns, and also differences in the types of reports in what people see, hear… and also smell.

So what’s that awful smell all about? And why doesn’t everyone who’s had a sighting report an odor when they have their encounter? Some report a smell, and some don’t. Great apes are known to emit an odor when they’re excited or feel threatened. Do sasquatches fall into that category? Is that all there is to it?  There are many and various thoughts on the matter, and each makes sense in its own right. But what’s the real answer? I asked a few experts in the community to try and shed some light on the subject. Like zoologist, Dale Drinnon.

“People do it too. I’ve noticed my body puts out a perfumy smell when I’m around a

woman I like, and a much more sour smell if I feel threatened. It’s more exaggerated in

 apes though.”

“What exactly causes it?” I asked.

“It comes out in the sweat and it’s produced by glands in the skin,” he explained. “A lot

of what people smell [during an encounter with sasquatch] is actually due to feces clinging to the

body hair. That can be fairly fresh or old and stale depending on how long it’s been there.”

“But the curious thing is that many report an almost skunk-like odor,” I said.

“That's sulfurous fumes and they can come from the large intestine,” he answered.

“The smell resembles a wet animal with a skunky type of odor, but most folks describe it much worse,” says Crypto Crew researcher, Bobby Long. “My garbage cans outside are much worse.”  Bobby lives and tracks sasquatches in Oregon, a drier, more mountainous state, which brings me to the next theory.

Leon Drew, a bigfoot researcher from Colorado believes it may be a regional thing.

“I think the odor has to do with humidity and temperature.  My encounter had no odor at 30 feet of distance. I theorize that the Sasquatch odor is tied to sweat and perceived danger. I feel in the dry mountain areas the odor is less than, say, Washington State and the Swamp Ape in the Southeast,” he told me.

“Have you ever smelled one during your research?”

“I think I smelled one earlier this year when we were scouting for camping area. It was a skunk-musk-like smell and it moved as we moved.”

And these theories explain it to some degree, but other interviewees suggested that maybe a sasquatch can create this smell at will. There are many animals that have the ability to do this and why should a sasquatch not also have this skill? Certain snakes like copperheads and pythons do it. Foxes, hyenas, and wolverines also. Some use it as a defense mechanism, like stinkbugs and skunks, while others seem to just emit an odor when they’re agitated or stressed.

But there was still a curious element left here to ponder. How do we explain the skunk-like element to the smell? Is that significant? Or just some kind of coincidence?

This brings me to the last theory and the most interesting one I’ve heard posed yet that came from JC Johnson, a cryptid investigator with the organization, Crypto Four Corners, in the Four Corners Region of New Mexico. And he has the video footage to back up his idea.

“It’s just my observations,” he said when he attempted to explain why he’s come to these conclusions.  The video chronicles an investigation in which a supposed sasquatch extracted a skunk from a drain pipe. In what seemed to be quite a desperate attempt, the creature punched a hole in what appeared to be a fiberglass or plastic drain pipe to extract the animal from its hiding place. The body of a skunk had been found nearby earlier that day with only the scent sack removed, which prompted the investigation of this local resident farm. JC gleaned from the information collected on that investigation, and from others, that sasquatches may harvest skunk scent glands in order to mask the smell of their young, and deter any predators.

That would certainly do it. Everyone knows that a skunk killed on the road is rarely eaten by anything, including the crows and buzzards. And humans and other animals usually just try to get away from it. So why would a sasquatch want to kill one and work so hard to get the job done?

“We have reason to believe that jaguars are back in this area again and may be threatening the young of the local wildlife population,” JC explained.

This event took place in a semi-rural area where human presence is prevalent and they believe jaguars are now prowling. When new animals migrate and introduce themselves to a new area, it always creates new problems for the wildlife that’s already there. In this case, sasquatches.

So if we put all the pieces together, it all makes sense. There could be many factors that determine the smell in so many sightings reports.  Maybe it’s one of them; maybe it’s all of them. But JC also added that if you suspect sasquatch activity in your area and there are large predators there also, you might add checking the local skunk population to your research agenda. And maybe we can all help put the pieces together in this.

But watch the video and see what you think. *******DF

(UPDATE 2 AT BOTTOM OF POST)
Recent photo of Bigfoot
Bigfoot in Oregon by Mark Hubbard
Researcher Mark Hubbard recently took this photo (above) of what appears to be a bigfoot. The picture was taken in Oregon and as you know Oregon is a hot bed for bigfoot sightings and trace evidence. Mark has the photo tagged with the date 7-4-2013, so it is very recent.
I messaged with Mark and he has allowed me to do some enhancement of the photo and post them here. So a big THANKS to Mark for letting me attempt to enhance the photo.

Here are my enhancement efforts.

Bigfoot report in southeastern Kentucky
Another bigfoot report from KY
I know this is a old report but this sighting has never been told until now. Sadly the original witnesses have pasted away but told of the bigfoot sighting to a family friend.

I was able to talk to that family friend, Opal Hobbs, and get the details of the sighting.
The original witnesses were Larry Grubbs and his wife.

Here is what Opal told me.

It was about 1967 and Larry had went out one night to feed his dogs, once outside he smelled a foul odor, when all at once he sees a big, hairy creature that walked like a man but was about 9 foot tall. He told Opal the creature stepped over a wood fence, that fence was about 6 ft tall. Larry also told Opal that the creature "growled or made a loud sound and swiped its arm like for him to get away."

Larry had also told that he had a couple of dogs that had gone missing. The bigfoot was seen by Larry and his wife.

Opal told me "it came over the mountain behind my house but I didn't live here then." Opal went on to say "I had forgot till I read this (Referring to the Baxter BF Report) he (Larry) never seen it again but my dad used to talk about one he saw up in these mountains around the same time."

As ask Opal if there was anything odd still going on in the area and she told me that they have heard some loud screams that sounded like a woman.

We are hoping to get a recording of these sounds in the future. I should also note that in this general area there has been several sightings/encounters, including one of my own, and others dating back to the 40's.

Where: Hulen, KY (Bell County)
When: 1967
Witnesses: 2 (Both now deceased)
Creature: 9 foot tall

I know this is a very old sighting but it is still worth documenting and helps establish the sighting history of this area.
Special thanks to Opal Hobbs for relaying the sighting to me.

Dr. Ketchum’s DNA Study
The Latest Information And Our Take On It
By TCC Team Member  Dorraine Fisher

Just yesterday, the online scientific magazine arstechnica.com made their assessment of Dr. Ketchum’s DNA results and the study overall. And as our team attempted to sift through all the technical jargon, and then read it again to make sure, our conclusions could only lead us in one direction.

The author of the article, John Timmer, while he believes the doctor is honest and sincere in her beliefs in sasquatches, believes her methods and her findings are flawed. By virtue of what he’s saying in the article, he believes her data has serious problems. Problems she seems more than willing to overlook because of her personal beliefs in her own ideas about the creature. And we believe this has tainted the entire project and set the cause back further rather than help it.

A failed study, by a lab technician, published in an illegitimate scientific journal will never stand up to a real study, published in an appropriate journal, by one of the world’s leading geneticists.

This has given us more reason to hope the Sykes study will help us all make sense of it while bringing some sanity to the cause once again. *******DF

Juvenile bigfoot track casting
Casting the possible juvenile track

Possible Juvenile Bigfoot Tracks

The Crypto Crew's Bobby and Corinna Long find what may be juvenile bigfoot tracks near a creek. The tracks are not very long but they seem wide and made a pretty deep impression. Found near Myrtle Creek, OR
This find is not far from Robert York's howl incident and this area in general has had many sightings and track finds.
Here is a video of the tracks and casting.

Map of Baxter
Baxter, KY (Harlan County)
This sighting is pretty vague but it is in my general area so I wanted to log it on the site.

Where: Baxter, KY (Harlan County)
When: 9/28/2011
Witnesses: 1
Creature: Digging in garbage
Description:
O my lord I was in total shock when I seen the beast digging through my garbage.
Has anyone else seen him/her what ever it is?
Big as a man. Had hair all over it at first I thought it was that homeless black man but I was half sleep then I realized it was no man it was something else. I ran back in to get my pistol and came back out side to kill it, so I could have proof, but the s.o.b. was gone.

-End Report

Bigfoot seen in dumpster

While the report does not go into any great detail, it is still worth logging due to the fact that Harlan county has had several sighting of bigfoot over the years. This could just be another little part of the puzzle.
Thanks

Bigfoot DNA Finger print

Dr.Ketchum makes a statement about the latest criticism

In response to the latest round of criticism. 1. We did give these folks access to the genomes. 2. They only pulled random sequences and did not look at the whole genomes. The person from UT that did our analysis told me that he never got all of the raw data uploaded to the second lab due to computer problems on the receiving lab's end. 2. I offered raw DNA to this lab so they could extract and sequence themselves. They would not even give the courtesy of a reply. 3. They refused to even speak with me on the phone. The entire thing was completely and totally unprofessional. 4. They never tried to check the analysis done at the University of Texas even though the bioinformatics person put himself at their disposal.

What findings they gave were impossible since both of our labs would have had to extract feces to obtain these results. If it had been feces, we would not have been able to obtain the preliminary results that we got prior to the genomes. After all, they were the same extractions. You can't get feces from tissue, blood and saliva. If we did extract feces, the quality scores would not have been this high. That is in the literature. This leads to a couple of possibilities. One, there is a conspiracy to suppress our findings. Two, they just didn't care and didn't believe that there is even the possibility that Sasquatch exists and therefore just wanted to be done with it because they had other projects. Three, they themselves suppressed it for fear that their careers would be damaged. The things that I know for sure are that it was not an adequate analysis, they did not even try to double check or recreate our findings. If they really had an interest, they would have jumped at the chance to resequence the raw samples. Funny thing, I offered the samples to three other places also and nobody was willing to test. Something is just not right. I also offered several people an opportunity to visit a habituation site including this reporter and his lab people so they could have a sighting. Of course they didn't want that either. Bottom line, nobody except a few of you here even care about the truth. Most would rather perpetuate that BF is a myth or an ape.

Bongo is disappointed

Proof Of Bigfoot?
News On The Ketchum DNA Results
By TCC Team Dorraine Fisher

To all who’ve been holding out hope for concrete proof of the existence of sasquatch through Dr. Melba Ketchum’s DNA evidence collection can stop hoping. It’s pretty much a done deal…and a wash.

According to Eric Berger’s science blog, Sciguy, he had a good constructive conversation with Dr. Ketchum, who made him think maybe the subject was worth pursuing further.  He solicited the opinions of several geneticists to examine the results of the paper when it was called into question by many after it was published earlier this year in a less-than-reputable journal that had only been created a week before the paper’s publication. Their conclusions: “At best, the evidence was inconclusive.”

Berger said he solicited this panel on the advice of a geneticist in Texas he knows personally and he guaranteed is top in his field. He declined to name names because, he said, Some of his [the geneticist’s] peers would question his engagement on such a topic, believing it unworthy of valuable research time.”

Berger agreed to delay writing anything on the topic until these geneticists had made their determinations. And they said it was a mix of opossum and some other species.’ Not what we were hoping for at all. We can only hope the Sykes study will glean something worth all our time spent wondering. ******DF

This investigation by TCC Team Members Bobby & Corinna Long
Both are avid outdoors people and good researchers.

While out doing research we found some tracks that might have been made by bigfoot.
It was pouring the rain so we could not cast them.

While the track is somewhat inconclusive it is rather large. The track made a fairly deep impression as well. They could have been made by a human or maybe a bigfoot.
Track Size 14" long by 5" wide.

Thanks
