Tom: How long have you been researching/studying Bigfoot?
JT: Since October 1997.

Tom: What got you interested in Bigfoot? Was there a particular event that got you started?
JT: Well, I have always had an interest with both Bigfoot and UFO’s since about the ages of 6 or 7. It was around that time that I watched the well known Leonard Nimoy give his presentation of The Patterson-Gimlin Film on the cult television show titled "In Search of". I was interested more in UFO’s around that time due to my encountering a "very small man" purple in color and wearing coveralls (that’s what I called him) while playing under a fig tree one evening. I hadn’t had any real focus on Bigfoot until around lunchtime one day in October 1997.
I was trying to find where a very elderly friend had moved to. About two miles from his new residence, I came to a sharp curve in the road that had somewhat of a rocky outcrop in the radius. I saw something climbing down the side of it and figured that it must be some kids playing or something. To my amazement, and as I drove closer; I realized that it was certainly no child (or adult) human. As I got to about eight to 10 feet away and staring up through the window of a 1997 Hyundai Elantra; I was looking at an approximately six foot, completely black, male (it had genitalia), hair covered (but only briskly), black skinned, man-like being. As we peered at each other through the glass, I could tell it was aged. You could clearly see the wrinkles and lines in its reminiscently human face. After about 10-12 seconds of wonder, it continued its walk across the road and down into a wooded creek bed. It took me several weeks to come to terms with what I had witnessed.

Tom: During your research/studying of Bigfoot, have you ever encountered aggressive behavior or felt in danger from a Bigfoot?
JT: Yes I have. While camping with some friends in W. Virginia, I observed what appeared to be an eight foot, hairy black mass try to enter a female campmates tent one night. I and others were able to draw its attention and drive it away. I think it noticed we saw it and got scared.

Tom: It seems Skeptics are always ready to attack Bigfoot research, how do you deal with it?
JT: I don’t worry about that aspect of what I do. Most of those types of people research from behind a keyboard or have "0" experience in a wildlife setting. So in actuality, it is they who are being misled due to their sedentary lifestyle.

Tom: Would you like to see Bigfoot accepted and/or proven to the general public?
JT: No. I have never desired that type of proof for the general public. Proof is earned in my book and not freely given those that sit on their asses only to ridicule and cajole from afar.

Tom: What is your favorite time of year to research/study Bigfoot, When do you have your most success?
JT: In the heat of the summer and in the fall.

Tom: Do you have a favorite Bigfoot story or report?
JT: I don’t know if one would classify what I am about to say as being "favorite" per se BUT, it is certainly the strangest thing that has ever happened to me while Bigfooting. I was at a get together in N. Central Tennessee in November 2002. I and about 70 others were sharing company at a small Bigfoot conference and we dotted the landscape in our various cabin and lodges. Well, one of those nights, a few of us (around 30) drove up to a field in the mountains where the WMA was growing experimental grasses.
We all hung out there for around an hour and 26 of those people left to move onto other areas around the countryside. One of the women that I was with began to experience lightheadedness and began to collapse and so I grabbed her elbow to keep her from smashing her head on to the ground.
Around 10 minutes later, I began to feel a horrendous case of bowel activity brewing; I became nauseous, started sweating profusely and became flushed. I politely excused myself and told the remaining researchers that I was going to go back to the cabin and lie down. I remember getting into my car and going back down the "chicken trail" (because the road was so small it looked like only chickens would use it) towards the cabin. It was a 10 minute trip.
I walked into the cabin and much to my amazement, the three researchers I had just left not 10 minutes earlier were already at the cabin, dressed for bed and waiting on me. I had a severe case of "Jeff scratches his head" going on. The first thing out of my mouth was, "How did you guys get here so quickly and get changed, ready for bed?" One them said, "Honey, you have been for around 4 hours and 10 minutes from what we can gather. We’ve had three or four people out looking for you on the road you left out of the field on and we couldn’t find you".
Now, the perception of 10 minutes in my head was actually 4 hours, 10 minutes. That bothered me for a long, long time and I still think of that one singular event while researching often. It bothered me so bad that I went to my family doctor, a psychologist and a Neurologist upon my return home. Nothing was ever found wrong. I wonder if it will ever happen again while researching. I wonder what exactly happened. With people looking for me on the exact same road I left on and they never saw me or my vehicle, where did I go? Did the car go with me? Those questions will continue to baffle me for a long time to come.

Tom: What would you be doing if you were not researching/studying Bigfoot?
JT: Had I not had an experience in 1997, I am really not certain as to what hobbies I would be involved with. I have spent most ever day since my first encounter thinking and searching for what I saw on that fall day.

Thanks for doing the interview and we all wish you continued success.

Hanging Naked Man
Hanging Naked Man Orchid - Real or Fake?

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

Real or Fake - Hanging Naked Man

I thought I might start a new series of post that I call "Real or Fake". I will post some unusual story or photo and let you know if the story/photo is something Real or Fake.

The first item in this little series is a photo of what is commonly called "Hanging Naked Man", see photo above - Some say it is just a photoshopped fake but after some quick research I discovered that indeed the odd flower is in fact real.

This orchid does bare a striking resemblance to a "Hanging Naked Man" ....completed with varying sizes of anatomy....does size matter? I guess not in the flower kingdom.

Orchis italica, aka the Naked Man orchid or the Italian Orchid is certainly real and grows in various locations in the Mediterranean.

You can read more about The Naked Man orchid on first-nature.com

Real or Fake? - REAL!

Thanks

Interview with Researcher Larry Surface

It's time for our fourth installment of the short interviews series with people from the World of Bigfoot.
In this interview we talk to Larry Surface - Larry was a key researcher who submitted evidence to the documentary film Bigfoot : The Evidence Files. You can view some of his research in that film.

Tom: How long have you been researching/studying bigfoot?
LS: I've been researching Bigfoot full time since 2008, 6 years.

Tom: What got you interested in Bigfoot, Was there a particular event that got you started?
LS: I first became interested by the Leonard Nemoy tv shows in the 1960's.

Tom: During your research/studying of Bigfoot, have you ever encountered aggressive behavior or felt in danger from a bigfoot?
LS: I have never felt in danger from Bigfoot. Nor have they ever bothered any of our animals, even catching a Raccoon in the yard while a chicken sat on a nearby limb 4 feet off the ground undisturbed.

Was Bigfoot after a Deer?
Possible Bigfoot Tracks

This investigation/research/report by TCC Team Members Bobby & Corinna Long
Both are avid outdoors people and good researchers. They research in the state of Oregon. They conduct field research, tape sighting reports, and conduct witness interviews.

Possible Bigfoot Tracks In Oregon

While out researching I found this track line. Could this trackway be a juvenile? I sure thought so. It went up the high bank straight and appeared it jumped up the steepest part. There were also deer tracks in that bank. The tracks were in loose soil, so there is not much detail.

Here is a short video of the photos.

BC Bigfoot Sighting

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

Bigfoot in BC Sighting Report

The following report was submitted to me. Seeing the many red flags in the video, I ask a question and the submitter gave me an answer. Here is the report and our exchange.

- Start Report -
Name: Bigfoot Witness (Please no name)
Email Address: Withheld.
State: BC
County: Canada
Date of Sighting: June 7th
Time of Day: 1-ish
Nearest Town: Strathcona Provincial Park
Length of Sighting: 1 min-ish
How many Witnesses: 1
Any Photos/Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZLLYn4_5gw

Describe sighting in detail: I spent the past few days debating whether or not to post this video online and only decided to do so after showing the video to my father, who encouraged me to publish it.

This past Saturday I was enjoying a nature walk alone at the Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island when my walk was interrupted by a large rock thrown in my direction. I scanned the area thinking it was kids but saw nothing, so I continued along. I only made it a few steps though before I heard a loud cracking sound, like a branch being snapped from a tree or something. I turned and spotted something moving in the foliage. This something was on all fours and hiding behind some large ferns, I raised my arms and let out a yell (Thinking it was a bear and hoping to scare it off) but that's when this something stood up. I instantly became overwhelmed with fear, this wasn't a bear. It was more like a gorilla. As it turned and began to leave I quickly pulled out my DSLR and shot this video. The way it walked completely freaked me out, it was almost human. I cut the video after I lost track of it and honestly I didn't want to hang around. I was concerned that their may have been more of these things as this one wasn't huge in size, it seemed almost young and I was concerned that maybe an adult one of these was around.

Tom: After viewing the video a few time, and having serious doubts about it. I replied to the submitter: "..at this point it appears to be a suit. ....is there a chance you could have been pranked?"
I also showed them this photo.

Here was the reply by the submitter: "I don't know about pranked, though maybe some bored kids? I didn't get the greatest look at it, much like the video. It was far away but I can tell you it chilled me to the bone once I realized that this wasn't a bear. I won't be returning to that park any time soon."

- End Report -

After viewing this repeatedly and running it on some software, so I could zoom it in, I'm pretty sure this is a person in a suit. Now, did the person who submitted this report and videoed the "creature" know it was a guy in a suit? I do not know but at this point it appears to be nothing more that a cheap bigfoot suit and an attempt to get youtube view.

Thanks
~Tom~

Interview with E.C.B.R.O. Founder - Daniel Benoit

It's time for our third installment of the short interviews series with people from the World of Bigfoot.
In this interview we talk to Daniel Benoit - Founder of the E.C.B.R.O. (east coast bigfoot researchers organization). You can check out their website by Clicking Here, Their Facebook page by Clicking Here and their Wordpress Site by Clicking Here.

Tom: How long have you been researching/studying bigfoot?
DB: I've been studying and researching Bigfoot for the Last 5 years.

Tom: What got you interested in Bigfoot, Was there a particular event that got you started?
DB: What got me interested in bigfoot well; that thought had always remained in the back of my head over the years since my young youth and then it happened to creep out a little more after reviewing the Roger Patterson & Bob Gimlin footage, and of course we can not forget Harry and the Hendersons, A modern day film that opened our minds even more. So Time went by and little by little I started to look into a few possibilities - then I found myself researching, Reading, online research, In the Field observations and making my own discoveries, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Virginia are locations I alone have researched and found all the various signs of Evidence that gave me the understanding, but it wasn't until I started researching our known Primates that these different findings came to make sense of a lot of the puzzle.

Tom: During your research/studying of Bigfoot, have you ever encountered aggressive behavior or felt in danger from a bigfoot?
DB: I never, not once came across any aggressive behavior, In the one encounter I did have with the 2 subjects they both clearly showed a great deal of curiosity of who and what we were as well as we to them. They showed caution upon us by moving back away a few yards from where we first noticed them noticing us.

Tom: It seems Skeptics are always ready to attack bigfoot research, How do you deal with it?
DB: With skeptics - well this is often a common issue I face because I am not ashamed of what I know or believe in - To any skeptic or non believer I tell them this - Sorry for what you do not know or believe but until you start seeking you will not find, and What is meant to be will happen in do time.

Tom: Would you like to see Bigfoot accepted and/or proven to the general public?
DB: Bigfoot accepted : well yes I would but most importantly known, understood, and protected . The ECBRO Discovery Project is in effect to assure this will happen, also educate many on we have among us.

Tom: What is your favorite time of year to research/study bigfoot, When do you have your most success?
DB: My favorite time of year to research is early spring , and early fall , But yes I do research all year around when time permits.

Tom: Do you have a favorite Bigfoot story or report?
DB: All my favorite stories or reports are every time I conduct research.

Tom: What would you be doing if you wasn't researching/studying bigfoot?
DB: What would I be doing if I wasn't Bigfooting ? Well who really knows - No matter what I will never give up loving the outdoors, perhaps I would be researching the rest of wild life like I do now along with Bigfoot.

Thanks for taking the time to do our little interview and good luck with all your research and the many things you do for the bigfoot community.

- End Interview

Remember folks, check out and support Bigfoot research and researchers. Many of us are self funded and your support and encouraging words are a big help to us.

So far I have got to interview some great people and they are worthy of support. I look forward to bringing you more from this series in the near future. We already have a few others that have been interviewed and I'm trying to line up more. So far I have found it interesting at how some of the answers are similar and how some are different.

Thanks
~Tom~

The Crypto Crew's Jason Morse on Beyond Rainbows & Butterflies. The other guest is Bruce Barraclough Jr and both of them talk about our elusive buddy Bigfoot!

This show was loaded with information including some sounds captured in the field that could be a possible bigfoot. Jason Morse recorded these sounds on 5/27/14 and we are now making them available to the public. We are not saying this is a bigfoot, we think it is probably a fox making the sound but some are saying it is a bigfoot. You can decide for yourself.

bigfoot evidence
Bigfoot on trial

Bigfoot - Evidence, No Evidence and Debunkers

When talking about Bigfoot one can expect to get some raised eyebrows and maybe a few smirks. But mention that you have actually encountered the elusive creature and/or found evidence to support it and many people will quickly start calling you crazy, delusional or ask what drugs you are on. In other words they really bring into question your character.

The Bigfoot research field is full of lovable, but wacky people who have good intentions but see 92 bigfoot in every photograph. So the label of delusional might fit in some cases. I think some of them know there is nothing in their photos and they just do it to cause a stir or get attention, or maybe it's just for kicks.

Report of recent Banshee Sighting
Banshee Sighting!

NEW Banshee Sighting Report

I just got in a report of a possible Banshee sighting in Ireland. Here is the report with some information after it.

- Start Report -
Name: Emily  *****
Email Address: Withheld but on record
State: Not in America. The Republic of Ireland
County: Clare
Date of Sighting: 03/06/2014
Time of Day: Roughly 2am-3am
Nearest Town: Inagh
Length of Sighting: 1 hour
How many Witnesses: Only Me
Any Photos/Videos: No
Describe sighting in detail:
I'm not sure if you guys do anything paranormal outside of the USA especially not BigFoot related but I have quite an experience here in Ireland with what I believe to be a Banshee. They are a typical folk monster here and I personally thought them to be legends and old stories but last Tuesday I had an encounter that can only be explained by that.

If you guys don't know what a Banshee is, to roughly explain it they are a creature/spirit that is assigned to families. Some people view them as good things some as bad. They are said to be heard crying/screaming when someone in your family is about to die as a form of mourning.

I live in a small farmhouse in a pretty rural area of Ireland, which isn't saying much as most of Ireland is rural anyway. I heard what sounded like at first the screaming sound that cats make when they have a stand off. But it slowly started to transform into a contestant ringing scream coming from the distance. It was coming from a field next to me which is locally nick-named "the far bog" as it is just that. A bog/marsh that is far away from anything in particular.

I panicked and thought that someone had gotten stuck in the bog which is actually a common way of death here sadly, so I called the Guards (The Irish Police) and ran outside to try and find her. When I got to the bog I saw a woman standing upright on a stone wall that borders the bog. She had her head tilted upwards and was screaming so loudly that it actually caused some pain. She appeared to be wearing a flowing dress of some sort. This freaked me out as I presumed it was some drugged up/drunk person and I ran back inside and waited for the guards to come.

A single patrol car came up a few minutes later but the screaming had stopped by then. I explained to them exactly what had happened and they were actually the first to mention the possibility that it was a Banshee. They mentioned that this sort of call happens every few years. They officially wrote it down as a drunk and disorderly person on private property who left but then told me to call all of my immediate family to make sure everything is ok, as they both believed it was a Banshee. I did just that and sadly found out that my Mother had passed away in her sleep that night. The funeral was a few days ago and since then I have been transfixed by the story of the Banshee and have looked up as much information as I can. In the progress I came across your paranormal site. I thought that you guys might be at least slightly interested in my story. You can email  me at any time if you ever want any more information.
Thanks
Emily

UPDATE - I ask Emily for some photos of the area and she sent me the following. Thanks Emily.

...

- End Report -

First, I would like to send my condolences to Emily and her family over the loss of their mother.

Here is some information about the Banshee.
The banshee, is a female spirit in Irish mythology, usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the underworld.

In legend, a banshee is a fairy woman who begins to wail if someone is about to die. In Scottish Gaelic mythology, she is known as the bean sìth or bean-night and is seen washing the bloodstained clothes or armor of those who are about to die.

In legend, a banshee wails nearby when someone is about to die. There are some special families who are believed to have banshees attached to them, and whose cries herald the death of a member of that family. Most, though not all, surnames associated with banshees have the Ó or Mac prefix. They were also associated with the Airlie clan. Accounts of banshees go back as far as 1380.

Stories of banshees can also be found in America in the late 18th century. The most prevalent of the American stories comes from Tar River in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. However, in this variation of the story, the banshee is simply a ghoul, as opposed to a sign of misfortune.

In the badlands of South Dakota, a banshee is said to wail upon a hill near Watch Dog Butte. Like other American tales of banshees, this legend does not connect her to any particular death.

Regardless of the location or the background story about the origins or purpose of a Banshee, it seems to be a very frightening event.

A thanks goes to Emily for sending us her report about the event. We hope to have an update to this story.
If anyone else has encountered something like this, please contact us via the Report a Sighting Link.

Thanks
~Tom~

Bigfoot Researcher from Kentucky
Don Neal aka Biggy Foot

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

Interview with Kentucky Researcher Don Neal

It's time for our second installment of the short interviews series with people from the World of Bigfoot.
In this interview we talk to Don Neal, also known as Biggy Foot. Don is a good ol boy from my home state of Kentucky and is a member of Kentucky Bigfoot Research Organization.
Don has been a licensed and ordained minister for 40 years, the president and founder of 2 church organizations, an Honorary Kentucky Colonel, a trained tornado spotter for the National Weather Service and an accomplished guitarist.

Tom: How long have you been researching/studying bigfoot?
Don: 12 years "officially"

Tom: What got you interested in Bigfoot, Was there a particular event that got you started?
Don: 2 things. PG Film when I was 14 yrs old started my primary interest in Bigfoot, and a Minister friends 1st hand account of his sighting back in 1977. He was an expert scout, hunter, and marksman. He had the creature in the sight of his scope for over a full minute. It was a life changing event for Him to experience and for Me to hear. This story pushed me into serious Bigfoot research.

Tom: During your research/studying of Bigfoot, have you ever encountered aggressive behavior or felt in danger from a bigfoot?
Don: Not really. Some rocks thrown my way, and a mean growl once, but the scariest of all was a huge tree pushed over about 50 yards from me at midnight then the creature running away loudly.

Tom: It seems Skeptics are always ready to attack bigfoot research, How do you deal with it?
Don: Those who believe, need very little explanation. Those who do not believe, no explanation is enough. I expect Skeptics and therefore are never fully disappointed in them being around.

Tom: Would you like to see Bigfoot accepted and/or proven to the general public?
Don: Yes, if for no other reason than to prove "WE" are not crazy, and to make others aware "they" are there and need our mindful respect.

Tom: What is your favorite time of year to research/study bigfoot, When do you have your most success?
Don: Primarily, late Fall and early Winter because of lack of Ticks and Snakes. and Early spring because most wildlife seems to be moving more than usual.

Tom: Do you have a favorite Bigfoot story or report?
Don: YES..... my Minister friends sighting is still the most riveting and real story to me personally.

Tom: What would you be doing if you wasn't researching/studying bigfoot?
Don: As a full time Minister/Pastor I have plenty to do, but my every extra moment is spent studying this Bigfoot phenomenon.

Thanks Don, we look forward to more of your work in the future.

Don also recently took part and submitted evidence to the documentary film Bigfoot : The Evidence Files. You can view some of his research in that film.

Thanks
~Tom~

SlenderMan

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

Just What Is The Slender Man?

Just who or what is The Slender Man? Some may liken the name to a super hero name like Spider-man or Batman but The Slender Man is a far cry from any kind of hero.

If you have seen the news, then you know about the recent events where two young girls, ages 12, lured a classmate into the woods and stabbed her 19 times. The girls blame it on The Slender Man, and say it was an attempt to become a "Proxy" for The Slender Man.
(Proxy is an agent or substitute authorized to act for another person or a document which authorizes the agent so to act.)
The stab victim did not die, thank goodness, and is recovering the last I heard.

The Slenderman is also sometimes spelled with a space, The Slender Man but either way it's origins are pretty traceable or so it seems.

The Slender Man was created by Eric "Victor Surge" Knudsen around June 10th, 2009 on a website forum called Something Awful. The website had started a thread in which people where to superimpose a supernatural being into photographs. This is how The Slender Man was born.

When Eric Knudsen submitted his photos, he also included somewhat of a little story snippets from supposed witnesses. Of course this caught fire and the Slender Man started burning up the Internet. The basic premise of The slender Man is that he stalks, abducts and terrorizes people, mostly young children. Eric "Victor Surge" Knudsen registered a copyright on the name "Slender Man" in January 2010. Which was a very good move for him.

It didn't take long until other people where adding their own stories and art about The Slender Man. It got so popular that people interested in the paranormal called into George Noory's Coast to Coast radio show to ask about The Slender Man.

As the tales about The Slender Man continued to grow so did the popularity. Youtube videos started popping up and The Slender Man was even made into a survival horror video game called Slender: The Eight Pages. Several video game spinoffs were made and also a sequel title Slender: The Arrival.  There is also several independent films that are either in the works or that have been released. Once of which is Entity (View Trailer by Clicking Here), but a quick search on youtube will net you a pretty large list of The Slender Man videos. There is also a running series about The Slender Man by Marble Hornets on youtube, make sure to check it out.

The Slender Man managed to crossed over into real life, as people continue to report seeing what they call The Slender Man. Just take the recent story with the two girls and the stabbing, one of  the girls believes that The Slender Man can read her mind, can teleport and is watching her.

I'll admit I find the idea of The Slender Man very interesting and can see the massive potential for films being made about it. It does somewhat remind me of Freddy Kruger from the Nightmare on Elm Street movies but most in this current generation have not actually watch those films. The Slender Man will be their "Nightmare on Elm Street".

Eric Knudsen, creator of The Slender Man, said this:
"I just want something amazing to come of it... something that's scary and disturbing and kinda different. I would hate for something to come out and just be kinda conventional."

I'm sure Knudsen was talking about films and stories and not about real life murder attempts. I guess the question remains, is Knudsen's art created from real reports of The Slender Man?  On the forum he also posted this "I've heard there may be a couple more legit "Slender Man" photographs out there."

The original forum thread is archived and can be viewed by Clicking Here, of course most of the photos on the archive have been removed over time. Still there is some interesting reading.

The Slender Man is also on Facebook and has over 1 Million likes/followers. You can view the facebook page by Clicking Here.

Now you know some about The Slender Man ......so Beware!

Thanks
~Tom~

The Kentucky Wild Man Hunter
A Tribute To Philip Spencer

By Dorraine Fisher

The Bigfoot Community has suffered a huge loss this last week. The man known best as the Kentucky Wild Man Hunter, Philip Spencer, passed away in his home last Wednesday. But those of us who knew him know he was never a real member of what we call the Bigfoot community. He was an outsider. A pioneer in bigfoot research, roaming the woods of Anderson County, Kentucky when many of us were still in diapers. And I’m honored to say he was one of my best friends in the world.

I knew I wanted to do a tribute to him, but when I sat down to write, I was at a loss. Not because there’s nothing to say, but because there’s so much. He was a bigfoot researcher, woodsman, master tracker, photographer, videographer, and graphic designer. His numerous projects included work on the hit TV show, Monsterquest, on the history channel, and work on various rock videos in the music industry. Bigfoot represented only part of what he did with his life, but it was definitely his greatest passion.

Phil believed in Bigfoot before it was cool to believe; before the earliest Bigfoot TV shows, and before the subject was accepted into the mainstream. He knew they existed because he’d seen one when he was a child in 1970. And he dedicated his life to searching for them and documenting everything he could about them.

"We all think we’re so smart," he told me in a conversation I had with him one day about bigfoot and the skeptics. "But if these creatures have made it their career to not be found by humans, we’re gonna have a hell of a time finding them. But they’re out there."

He believed that his Kentucky home around Daniel Boone National Forest just might be the real hotspot for Bigfoot in the U.S. And he had good reasons to think so.

"There are places in this forest where humans have still never set foot," he told me. "This is a perfect place for a large animal to live in peace."

And he was never afraid to say whatever he thought about them, no matter how crazy it might sound to someone else. He was never afraid to offer new theories about them based on his observations. If you called him crazy, he didn’t care. He was a true leader in the field and he knew he had nothing to prove to anyone. He’d been there and done that. He’s one of those who set the standard for research the way it exists today.

So I was a little surprised a couple of years ago when he honed in on me and struck up a friendship. He’d actually read my work with The Crypto Crew and encouraged me to keep going. To try to introduce new ideas and new ways of thinking in the way research is done. He knew the community wasn’t thinking broadly enough. He was an outside-the-box thinker whose greatest strength was in his knowing he didn’t know everything and would always need to challenge his own ideas, as well as everyone else’s, until solid proof was on the table. He shaped my view about the subject and shaped the way I’ll forever think about the world and the nature of reality too.

He was a legend, though I know he’d laugh hysterically if I’d ever said that to his face. He considered himself an old Kentucky boy first and foremost. But he was most certainly one of a kind, and he will be missed.

I agonized about what to say here. But when I was looking over what I had to use to make the point, I knew that I had to allow his own material to speak for itself. The real man shines through in every video clip. Rest in peace, my good friend. It won’t be the same here without you. ******DF
