Haunted Cars That Changed the World

Cars are the ultimate modern convenience, but they have a deadly history. In 2018 alone, there were over 1.35 million traffic-related deaths globally, according to recent figures. Traditionally when the topic of hauntings is brought up, it is houses that first come to mind, but the automotive revolution of the 20th century has brought with it an unprecedented death toll. This has set the stage for many of the unexplainable phenomena reported over the last century.

BLACK MOUNTAIN'S HEADLESS ANNIE
by
Jennifer McDaniels

It was just a coon hunting trip. Some of my distant relatives (I prefer not to publicly say their names because what happened to them was bone-chilling and disturbing, not to mention they fear being scoffed) ......these distant relatives of mine decided to go coon hunting on Big Black Mountain one August night when the air was thick with humidity and ghostly mist. I was just a child in the mid 80's, and I remember sitting in the back of my Daddy's blue Chevy truck as my distant family (all men) were taking inventory of their equipment for the all-night excursion upon the state's highest peak.

They tried to talk my Daddy into joining them, and although he was an avid coon hunter himself, something just "didn't set right" with him. He told the men "I don't reckon I want to be up on that mountain in the middle of the night." Once they were satisfied they had all the equipment they needed, they piled in their truck and sped up KY 522 toward the Tri-Cities where Big Black Mountain towers over the old coal mining towns of Lynch and Benham, as well as Cumberland, which was more of a municipality for commerce.

I went on to bed that night, saying my prayers for the poor, defenseless coons (that's just the kind of child I was) and never gave the hunting trip another thought. In fact, it wasn't until months later that I overheard another family member relay to my mother the events of that horrific night experienced by my coon-hunting distant relatives upon Big Black Mountain.

I recently got in a couple of reports dealing with the phenomenon of shadow people. A shadow person is also sometimes called a shadow figure, shadow being or black mass. It is sometimes even referred to as Hat Man as sometimes these figures appear to be wearing a hat.

The perception is that these black masses are a living, humanoid figure and is thought to be evidence of the presence of a spirit or other entity.

Can you communicate with ghosts through meditation?

One of the main purposes of meditation is to help us discover our true selves and connect with the spiritual being residing in our physical body, So powerful is this practice that some say it can provide us with the means to temporarily remove ourselves from the physical world and initiate communication with the spirit world

Meditation as an opportunity to contact with ghosts

It is thought that quietening and calming the mind during meditation, letting go of any doubt, opening your heart and listening deeply to your spirit are the basic ingredients to being able to facilitate contact with the spirit world. According to Ryuho Okawa in his book The Challenge of the Mind, by practicing meditation we are given the opportunity to contact the very world from which we came from.

A Scare In Your Step: America’s Most Haunted Hikes

Hiking is the most popular activity for travelers, tourism researchers report, so it comes as no surprise that new trails and walking adventures are constantly being developed across the country for tourists and locals alike. If you enjoy the great outdoors, you might be wondering how to square that with your interest in the paranormal. But haunting experiences aren’t just confined to haunted houses and historic landmarks: there are a number of hiking trails across the United States reported to be seriously haunted.

Benham Theater: Specters of the Stage is now available on Amazon Prime. The title will be available on other streaming services in the near future. There will also be a DVD release and a possible Blu-Ray version in the future.

For those who are not familiar with the film series, this is the 5th film in the series. Here is the synopsis for the new film and other information.

Mystery Couple Seen At Cumberland Falls

Cumberland Falls located in Corbin, Kentucky is a very popular tourist destination and with good reason. It is known as "Niagara of the South," because it is the largest water fall south of Niagara Falls. The falls is 125 feet wide and has an average drop distant of 68 feet. It is also home to a "moonbow". It is the only location in the Western Hemisphere where moonbows are known to appear with regularity.

Cumberland Falls is also home to mystery. One story is about the Dupont Lodge and the Ghost bride and groom. There are other reports of seeing old civil war soldiers and several other tales. Well, now I might even have another mystery to add to the list.

I'm happy to announce the official release of our film "Ghosts of Portal 31" . It is currently available on Amazon Prime and DVD. We hope to add more streaming outlets in the future.

Before I share some behind the scenes pictures from the film, let me fill you in on Portal 31.

Are Paranormal Believers More Advanced Thinkers?
Science According To Nikola Tesla

By Dorraine Fisher

Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest minds of science. But what does the above quote mean? Most people who aspire to paranormal subjects will understand it right away. The rest may be waiting for the explanation that offers something more tangible; something physical that can be weighed and measured. Something they can put their hands on. But is that a constructive way to approach a real search for truth?

It depends on who you ask.

My Crypto World - Game cams, Bigfoot and more. (Episode 2) -
In this episode I talk about some of the ways I set up game cameras and I fill in some info on a 2013 bigfoot sightings. Several other topics are also put on the table.

TCC's booth at Paranormal for Paws
For those who may not know, Paranormal for Paws is an event that brings together the paranormal field and the animal care field in an effort to raise awareness of the work done by no kill animal shelters in New England.

Even though TCC was a late addition to this event, we think the cause is great and are proud we were able to take part. I also want to send a special thanks to the gang over at S.T.U.R.S. for all their help, they were phenomenal!

Here is a picture of S.T.U.R.S.'s booth.

I also invite you to like their facebook page - Click here to go to it.

Our buddy Jonathan Wilk from Team Squatchachusetts was also at the event.

I would also like to thank TCC team member Jason Morse for all the work he did getting ready for this event and the time he took to represent us.

Here is Jason with Shannon Silvia from Ghost Hunters International.

We have plans of participating in several other events this year. Please watch this page and our Facebook Page for details. If all goes well maybe some of you can stop by at some of these events and say hi to us.

Also a big thanks to the folks at Paranormal for Paws for having us on board this year. We wish them continued success.

Thanks
~Tom~

Craig Powell interview conducted by Leon Drew

This post by TCC Team member Leon Drew. Leon gallops the plains and rides tall in the saddle while in the mountains of the great state of Colorado. He is a Army Vet, History Buff, Telecom Engineer, Paranormal investigator and Bigfoot Researcher.

On November 15, 2014 I met Australian Paranormal and Yowie investigator, Craig Powell from WSPR.  Below is the transcript from that interview. It was a pleasure to meet Craig and to exchange information and views on our hairy friends and spirit interactions.

LD: I’m here with Craig Powell from WSPR Paranormal Australia, nice to meet you. So what brought you to Colorado?

CP: Nice to meet you to mate, great to be in town, Cripple Creek is awesome.  Initially it was equipment training with Bill Chappell with Ghost Adventures. I had heard stories about Cripple Creek being a very Haunted town that’s what basically brought me here. Will be in town for a week or so.

LD: Well pleasure to meet to meet you. You talked to Michelle Rozell from Outlaw and Lawmen Jail Museum here in Cripple Creek.  So how long have you been doing Paranormal and Crypto stuff?

CP: I have been researching Paranormal since I was 16 so 20 years are or so. But have been researching the nitty gritty with my own group for 5-6 years. The Crypto side kind of fell into it through Ufology and friends. Also the Cryptozoology side. A friend of my said would you like to go look for the Yowie, The Australian Big Foot, I said “yeah I’m really interested. “ I have always seen and read things about it.  But never had any experiences, so I went out with him lets just say it was a life changing experience and been in the crypto side ever since.

LD: Now with the Yowie research whats the most interesting thing you’ve encountered?

CP: My dealings with the Yowie having boulders thrown at me in the middle of the night threw bush and very accurately landing around by my feet. And I was thinking at the time if this thing wanted to hit it was going to nail me between the eyes. Because these boulders were landing around me. Also have seen big boulders come up a 40’ ravine and and land by our feet as well.

Going along with that we get the same things as you guys, we get wood knocks, we get broken branches on the trees, we even believe we stumbled across nests as well in the bush. One of the things I have found every time I had an encounter with a yowie is a chirping sound. That follows an event. A recent one with the group and I were on happen to stumble into it, we were filming for a series we were doing. We were out looking for hauntings and we ended up in the middle of bush land in Easter Victoria. Long way from were I live unbenounced to us it was a yowie hotspot. And we were hearing whoops and call throughout the night and we were focused on one thing and the crypto side to come out for us was quiet an experience for us. It felt like we were being surrounded.

LD: Have you ever seen anything like eye shine.

CP: I have seen eye shine but I can’t be 100% sure it was from a Yowie. But I have seen eyeshine. Also I have smelled that really wet dog fur type smell on several occasions. And we actually sent audio to a biologist in Queensland of some whooping sounds we heard in the bush. He actually said “Craig you shouldn’t be hearing this sounds in the Australian bush because I can’t figure out what it is. I’m really interested in to know as well what animal as making that noise.

LD: Did he identify it as some kind of primate?

CP: Yeah he said it sounded very primate like.

LD: Now these chirps you were hear now in Australia you have lots of exotic animals well from your point of view. Did it sound like a bird?

CP: You know what it sounded like an electronic bird. If that makes sense. It was a very metallic sounding chirping sound. Now the first couple of time I heard it I did dismiss it as a bird. As we were hearing growling noises and have things thrown at us.
When we went to North Eastern Victoria, a place I had never been to before, thousands of miles away from where I do my normal research we had an experiences and heard the same sound. Now there are lots of birds around but as soon as the sun goes down they go quiet. So something would happen I was hearing the same sound from where I thousands of miles away in New South Wales. So I have spoken lots of Yowie researchers in Australia and they say they have not uncounted that. Just seems every time I'm having a experience with a Hairy man, Big foot, Yowie I’m hearing this sound it intrigued me as to what it is.

LD: Now description wise, how would you describe them? Color, size, weight.

CP: From reports I have read and artist drawings I have seen very, very much like your Big Foot.

LD: What do you think the differences are?

CP: Height wise, looking the same. Weight wise think we are looking the same. The Aboriginal People think it is a spiritual creature. There have been cave drawings date back 50,000 years of the Yowies, of the Aboriginals drawing these things. But like I said every description I seen or read looks exactly like a Big Foot.

LD: I have read couple of different stories that they seem more aggressive than Big Foot.

CP: I have only read about one attack on a Yowie researcher in Australia. Other than that we a called the Pilyart kind of like the outback in New South Wales it is one of the biggest national forest in the country. There are reports of then there being quiet aggressive. There are reports or truck drivers that won’t stop there at night along the Newell Highway, even to this day they won’t stop there. That is the area I had the boulders thrown at me during the night. But look wise, very much like your Big Foot.

LD: We talked about seeing tree breaks over there. How far off the ground are they, and what do you think they mean?

CP: That’s a really good question. Height wise I have seen then from all different levels some just a bit over my head so six and a half, seven foot. And when do see the tree breaks I wouldn’t say a pattern, but a distinct purpose to them. It’s kind of like you can’t try to follow the tree breaks. Other than than not much I can tell you. Not 100% sure it is a Yowie but for me I have seen them from knee level all the way to 6-7’.

LD: Have you seen any stick structures like we have had reports around here for Big Foot?

CP: I haven’t but we have stumbled across what we think are “Nests” lots of foliage and leaves all bundled up in an area.

LD: What we have seen, is them imitating Native teepees and making “X” in trees. And have had this on my own area with Aspen trees.

CP: No none myself.

LD: Ok, on the paranormal side weirdest encounter you have had?

CP: I wouldn’t know where to start (Laugh).

LD: What is the one you tell as a story most often?

CP: Look for the paranormal, my guys will tell you my thing is physical contact. If somebody is going to be pushed or punched or scratched or kicked or marked in any form it is generally always me! So there have been occasions where we were in an jail in New South Wales called Maitland Jail. We were in a cell where a man was know to hang himself, George Sifits.  And I remember sitting in the doorway one night asking George if he was still there to show me how he died.  The next minute my neck started to burn and I had what appeared to be a giant rope mark. All the way around from one ear to the other ear. We actually posted that on the Internet and the guys from the television series “My Ghost Story” actually saw it. Said that look pretty spectacular they flew down and we did an episode with them. They sent a crew down to do some “B” roll footage out at the jail and what they wanted to do is reenact what actually happened to me. As they are filming the reenactment as sat in the door way and ask for George. “George can you show how you died”, as the camera is rolling this big red rope mark appeared around my neck!

LD: They cataloged it? That is cool!!

CP: Yeah so it actually happened right in front of them! It has to be one of the weirdest ones!

LD: They defiantly pegs the weird-o-meter!

CP: If there is going to be physical contact I’m going to get it! I have seen things, felt things.
For me and my crew and I it not about capturing evidence anymore. We don’t know how much more evidence that we need for proving the paranormal, the super natural, life after death whatever you want to call it. Now it’s more about figuring out why it happens. Why is it we see it and others don’t see it. What happens? Is it life after death is it multidimensional, what is it that is more along the lines why we research now. It not about finding evidence for us we got the evidence we need.  It is now trying to figure out how it all works.

LD: Have you gotten into, for a lack of a better term “helped “the spirits pass over. Have you gotten into that at all?

CP: It is not our specialty. A lot of the work when we first started was private cases. It was we were trying to help people answer the questions they had. “I’m seeing things: “I’m hearing stuff” “Can you try and help us figure out what it is?” That is more or less how we got started. Trying to figure out what they were seeing and hearing. If it was super natural we would refer them to people that could help them. As far has helping spirits pass over or move on it not something we specialize in. Look Leon in all seriousness, who am I to move something on, who am I? Maybe it is the purpose to be there is something to while they are still there. I can point them in the right direction to some one who can help them.

LD: Well its been great for you to take a few minutes to talk to me and been great to meet you. I appreciate the time. Its been great to meet another investigator from halfway around the world.

CP: Well, we will have to get you Down Under to look for the Yowie!

LD: I would love to will take you up on that someday!

CP: Also if anyone is interested there is a place in New South Wales called the Blue Mountains. It is very much like what we have been talking about here in Colorado, lots of huanting, Yowies, big cats and other stuff. It is also a hot spot for UFO’s kind of like our “Area 51”. If anyone is interested in paranormal stuff in Australia, check out the Blue Mountains!

LD: Well it has been a pleasure to meet you! Thanks have a great stay!
CP: you too!

Altogether, Craig and I spent 3 hours talking and finding out the world is small and we have so much in common! I plan on taking him up on the invite, and hit the Blue Mountains Down under! Craig was having a little trouble with the elevation and the snow while he was here. It was 25 degrees this day and sunny but we had snow moving in! It was an amazing conversation and experience networking around the world!

Craig also found he liked my jeep a lot, I told him steering wheel was on the wrong side for him! Check out the Jail Museum and Craig’s Facebook pages.

is this house haunted
Ghost?

I look at a lot of ghost videos. A lot of them look fake and I dismiss them, and a lot of them are posted on Youtube by ghost societies and other research teams, so they're more credible. But every once in a while I run into one like this, posted by an individual who makes claims of a ghost and ask for viewers opinions on what it might be.

A young man, here known as Kaelinspeaks, has heard noises in his house and supposedly mounts a camera down there to hopefully capture something. And he came up with this video of his dog shooting across a room alongside an object that looks like maybe it had been thrown, possibly to scare the dog. Since the dog seems completely terrified and there was no one downstairs at the time, he's wondering if his house is haunted. And if he's telling the truth here, he's actually done some research and testing of his theories too.

So what do you think of this clip? And has anything like this ever happened in your house?

Best Ghost Video of All Time???
In 2001, a man named Tom Underwood and his family were visiting Triangular Field near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania at the Gettysburg battlefield site when he shot this footage of what is said to be 13 ghosts. The family seems bewildered by the somewhat transparent, moving figures wearing what look like gray Confederate uniforms. They seem to be walking through the woods, and they look like they're walking uphill, though the area is now known to be flat. This is thought to be a residual haunting due to this scenario repeating itself over and over again.  This video has been featured on TV shows like Unsolved Mysteries and is considered to be one of the best ghost videos ever shot.  Tell us what you think.

what's the difference

Supernatural VS. Paranormal:
A definition and understanding.

To the layman believer and even the skeptic the two words are used interchangeably and seem to have the same connotations for those when debating subjects of the unknown. You also will often see the terms defined and argued erroneously and one taking the role of the other. The word supernatural means outside of nature or beyond nature (nature includes our whole universe) whereas the word paranormal means not or beyond normal (outside of how we think the world usually operates). When using the term Supernatural (if we are to use it correctly) we are referring to beyond our visible universe or to God, divine or other dimensional. These are things that are outside the scope of what we can know of our world through the sciences, physics, relativity, quantum mechanics etc. If they are truly supernatural they can’t be explained unless you give the task to the philosopher or theologian and even then they are only theories that can never be verified by science. The term paranormal means beyond or extraneous of normal or what we have come to expect of objects or ideas and those things behaving differently than we would conclude based on all of our cumulative observations and research. Paranormal has the possibility of being explained at some point in the future (possibly losing its paranormal status) whereas the Supernatural may forever be beyond our reach of understanding and by definition in fact is. In all instances when describing either, it comes down to Epistemology…what can we know (is it knowable and what are our limits of knowing it?) and how do we know it (what skills have we used to understand it and is it justified knowledge?).

A problem of the human condition is that believers and skeptics alike tend to look at that which interests them, and see what they want to see. A confirmation of their worldviews from the passionate beholder and the struggle to maintain the balance that helps them get through their everyday lives. Sometimes we become irrational, whether the subject is the paranormal or politics and it is evident when taking some extreme views from both the Democratic or Republican parties. “While some Democrats will say George Bush had prior knowledge of 9/11 some Republicans are certain that Obama is not a citizen of the United States and therefore not qualified for the office.” (* Steve Volk, Fringe.ology 2011) These extreme ideas come from preconceived notions about something that gives those beliefs greater weight than they really should have. I am not debating either view, but will contend that it is worthy of discussion to note that we all lean a certain way, even those in the middle, and that tends to inform and even cloud our judgments concerning our beliefs and attitudes.

The concept of an afterlife falls into the Supernatural as our answers come down to faith and upbringing and not something tangible within our physical grasp. It is something no matter what your postulation, we take on faith. A one-way street so to speak because we all die, but we don’t get the chance to come back and tell our tale to confirm the other side, excluding cases of near death experiences, which by definition are only near death and not the complete journey. On the other side of the same coin, ghosts or apparitions fall into the paranormal, and it may be possible one day with further study to verify that they exist. Proof of ghosts however does not prove the existence of an afterlife, because then the question becomes what is a ghost?

Once again, discovery and proof forever change the paranormal into the normal, no matter how rare or outrageous. Paranormal has room to evolve whereas the supernatural is static… or it is forced to admit that it never was supernatural. In other words what is “truly” paranormal can one day become normal, but what is “truly” supernatural is always supernatural or it was mislabeled in the first place.
*A quick note: Being that my personal site is a Bigfoot website, Sasquatch does not fit into either the Supernatural or Paranormal category. Bigfoot is either an obscure animal roaming our woods or merely a myth that won’t go away.

A lot to swallow I know , but I feel it is best to at least know the definition of terms we sometimes throw around loosely if we are to gain any upper ground in our conversations towards understanding. It is also wise to the best of your ability to recognize when your dogma influences your reality to the point where it distorts it. That is not always an easy task, but I think a worthy one for both believer and skeptic. As a skeptic myself I don’t always have an easy time with it, but when I am able, I see it brings the whole into focus and gives me a much better foundation on which to supplant my arguments.

Note: Skeptic does not mean a non believer. Only one who questions before swallowing whole hog.
Speaking of the word argument and even the word debate, I would suggest a much better way for us all to enter into the ring is with “conversation”. Both the word debate and argument as does the word ring suggests that we are taking our separate corners, waiting for the bell, and coming out swinging in hopes of a KO, TKO or a ruling from a judge on who the winner is after so many rounds. We much better serve ourselves by declaring there will be no winner and that we both have the same common goal in mind. That goal is a clearer understanding of the unknown through a more organized and deliberate approach, knowing the definition of the terms we use and using common sense to filter our own leanings that can take us off course. We are after all at the crossroads of faith and reason and in the end we all stand here together, waiting, watching and wondering.

We recently took a trip to ride the train at Big South Fork Railway in Stearns, Ky.
We captured a strange orb like thing on two different cameras and I wanted to share the video.

It was about a 2 hour train ride. This was an old mining camp and at one point you go into a very small tunnel. We captured something just as we were going into the tunnel. Could it be a ghost orb from some long dead miner or railroad worker or is it just a bug? I really can't say for sure but wanted to share the video.
Thanks

The Beautiful Cumberland Falls!
Cumberland Falls has been featured in 3 movies: The Kentuckian with Burt Lancaster, Raintree County with Elizabeth Taylor and Fire Down Below with Steven Seagal.
Cumberland Falls is located within the Daniel Boone National Forest in Southeast Kentucky.
The water fall itself is about 125 foot wide and has about a 65 foot drop. Sometimes Cumberland Falls is called "Little Niagara" but this Falls has something Niagara Falls does not have and that is a Moon Bow. A moon bow or lunar rainbow is a rare thing and can only be found in a few places in the whole world and can only be seen with the right conditions.

Moonbow Dates:
May - 22,23,24,25,26,27 June - 20,21,22,23,24,25
For more Dates Click Here!

This place of beauty is also home to some paranormal activity and stories. One being "The Bride of Cumberland Falls" and/or the haunted Dupont Lodge.
There are slightly varying stories about the Bride of Cumberland falls but here is the basics of the tale.

Dupont Lodge
The story dates back into the 1950's, The story is of a  Bride and Groom that came to Cumberland Falls State Park for their Honeymoon.
The couple was staying at Dupont lodge. Before leaving the falls they wanted to have their photos taken with the falls in the background. The couple found an overlook just a few hundred feet from the falls that would work great for the photo. As the Bride stood on the Pillars at the edge of the 75 to 80 foot cliff, the Bride lost her balance and fell to her death.
-----------

Cumberland Falls has been listed as one of the top haunted places in Kentucky.
I have read several reports from visitors and people who worked at the Park, including some of the park rangers who worked around the Falls and many report seeing the ghost bride and other weird things. Some the other reports told of the ghost bride tripping people or messing up rooms that were just cleaned up. There are even some report of seeing old civil war type soldiers.

Here is a possible photo of the Ghost Bride
Notice the human shaped figure on the upper right

While there is many ghost tales from the Falls, I personally have not seen anything there and I have been to the Falls on a few trips as it's close to me. I do remember some other strange tales from Cumberland Falls. Many of you may have heard this before or remember hearing your family and friends talk about it.
Well as I remember, when I was a kid, around 10-12 years old, there was some stories about a person or people falling off the falls. This resulted in a massive search to recover the bodies and at one point a team of  divers was used to swim under the falls and look for the bodies. The story that was told was that the divers came out of the water pretty quickly and were really shaken up and telling people that if anyone fell over the Falls that they are gone because there were catfish down there that were as big as a Volkswagen. They went on to say that these giant catfish were easily big enough to swallow a man whole. The divers also refused to go back in the water and look for the missing people.

Cumberland Falls State Park is a great place to visit, it has plenty of forest to explore and look for bigfoot, it has the Ghost Bride to investigate, it has monster sized catfish to catch but if none of that is your thing, then the Cumberland Falls is still a beautiful place to spend a weekend hiking, boating, fishing or just to enjoy the out doors and relax.
Click Cumberland Falls!! to find out more!

There are many more tales of strange sightings and odd happenings in and around this area, I have only scratched the surface.
If anyone has a tale to share or some photos, feel free to send them to me at thecryptocrew@kih.net

Thanks
