The History Channel's CRYPTID: THE SWAMP BEAST
The History Channel's CRYPTID: THE SWAMP BEAST

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

 CRYPTID: THE SWAMP BEAST

The bayous of Southern Louisiana are home to some of the planet's most rugged and unforgiving terrain.  And hidden deep within these swampy confines lie many of America's oldest mysteries and bone-chilling legends.  With its ancient Indian burial grounds and above ground cemeteries, the area has always teemed with eerie sightings.  In recent years however, there has been a dramatic uptick in strange occurrences, many of them attributed to a legendary werewolf-like creature known as the Rougarou.   In History's newest narrative series, residents of a small bayou town must face their darkest fears when something unknown begins to attack, leading to panic and hysteria.  When it's believed the culprit is possibly the Rougarou, or Bigfoot of the bayou, the townsfolk will use whatever means necessary, including the dark arts, to ward off the evil.  An American folktale comes to life with the story of CRYPTID: THE SWAMP BEAST.

I've watched this show a few times and it's pretty good, but more like a drama show than a documentary. Check it out.
Thanks

Ok, sometimes I would play a game with my followers and post up a photo and ask "what is it?" but I've not done that in a while. So I thought I'd have a little fun today and ask
"If you seen this figure in the woods would you think it could be a bigfoot?" or in other words "Could it be a Bigfoot?"

Just imagine seeing this dark, hairy figure moving around in the woods, late in the day at the edge of dark.

Here is the figure:

I think this was taken in Louisiana  --  I think some people might even take a shot at this figure under the right lighting conditions.

Thanks and I hope you enjoyed that.

A few of days ago I got an email from Dr. Chilton (Not sure if that is the real name) about an experience at Loyd Hall Plantation in Louisiana.  Loyd Hall , for those who don't know, has a history of being haunted and was featured on American's most haunted show. Some of you might remember one part of the show where they show the hardwood floors and the floors still have a large blood stain on them, well this is that place.

Here is Dr. Chilton's account:

My sister and I stay  frequently at an old plantation home in Louisiana. On one occasion, when our room was in an upstairs portion of the main house, I was awakened very early in the morning by someone pushing on my shoulder and asking in a child's voice for her "crinoline???"'. I  later asked the housekeeper at breakfast whose room I was staying in, and she said that it had originally ( during the Civil War) been the governess' room....connected to the bedroom of the 2 young girls in the family.....I found out that a "crinoline" was a girl's petticoat in the 1800's.....someone needed help getting dressed that morning!!  Also that night I also heard a man's voice telling the little girl to "let the lady sleep: come with me and leave her alone."
Thanks to Dr. Chilton for sharing the story with us.

Much more information is available on Loyd Hall via internet search.

Thanks

Bigfoot Crosses HWY. 441

I recently got another sightings report. They shared possibly two sightings. The first one was in 2000.

AB said -
"So everybody thinks I'm crazy but I know I saw a Bigfoot back in 2000 around 12am cross a main highway in 3 steps right in front my truck and a friend was with me and we both looked at each other with a puzzled look and he said don't fu**ing stop the location was highway 441 Holden, LA just about 50yards from tickfaw river."

More recent encounter with some odd sounds.
AB said -
"Now recently I have heard loud growls across the road from my house which is around Bear creek hunting club and even my wife and mom have heard it and just tonight I was putting some deer corn out by the river it was about 6:00pm and something slammed a tree hard enough to shake the limbs and I of course ran because I know what's out there, I've seen back in 2000."

I'm still following up on this report and hope to set up a meeting with one of our TCC researchers and AB.

Thanks
Tom

Louisiana Wookie?
The Monster Legend Of Honey Island
By TCC Team Member Dorraine Fisher
Honey Island Swamp - is it home to a Monster!

Legends of monsters in the swamp have permeated the bayou country of Louisiana for well over a
hundred years. But sometimes there’s a reason legends persist.
Honey Island Swamp in southern Louisiana is a stretch of land 27 miles long and seven miles wide. Thick pine forests make up the northern portion, and the southern portion consists of 70,000 acres of protected swampland not easily accessible by humans except by boat or on foot. Many dangerous animals make their home there, including black bears, alligators, and feral hogs. But some say, that in the deepest, darkest recesses of the area, there is another creature that calls this place home.
Known as the Louisiana wookie (due to its reported resemblance to the Star Wars character) or the Honey Island swamp monster, it was first spotted in the 1960s when humans began exploring further into the remote areas of the swamp.
The first documented sighting was in 1963 when a man named Harlan E. Ford and his friend Ray Mills were hunting in the area. They came across a large, hairy creature standing over a dead boar with its throat ripped out.

Heres the photo

What is it?

It don't look like a bigfoot, has legs that kind of look like a mans but the head of a horse or something.

Here is a Zoom in on it.

Weird creature

Anyone have an idea what this thing might be? Is it just a hoax?
Can't seem to get much from the photo itself..so thought i'd ask our readers.

Thanks
Tom

This is a look at Louisiana

food for wildlife
Sometimes people question if sasquatch could even live in Louisiana, well from what we know about it..the answer would have to be a big Yes.

Louisiana has an annual rainfall total of 59 inches per year making it the wettest state in the union. A Prime setting for sasquatch and many other animals.
Louisiana is home to a wide variety of wildlife every thing from Alligators to wild Turkeys. It also has some great fishing.

But what about Bigfoot? well according to the BFRO there is 40 reported sightings.
Here is the link if you want to read the reports BFRO LA reports .
One could easily assume that there is numerous sightings that go unreported each year as well.

With it's numerous plant life, wide variety of wild life and it's abundance of water Louisiana is well suited for a population of sasquatch.

Lets not forget that LA is also home of Honey Island Swamp Monster which in itself is a interesting story.
So all you people in Louisiana keep an eye out for the big guy and shoot us an email once you see him.
Thanks
Tom
