Honey Island Swamp Monster

In 1963, Harlan Ford filmed a "monster" in the Honey Island Swamp in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. The film is alleged to have sat unnoticed among his belongings until his death in 1980. His granddaughter Dana Holyfield discovered it and made it public.

Harlan Ford spoke of his encounter with the creature and spent much of his remaining years searching for it on numerous trips into the bayou. He never spoke of the film or showed it to anyone. Since he never released it, some feel that it was a possible joke that he had concocted and then never followed through. Ford's wife even stated in an interview, that the film was not made in 1963, but was filmed sometime in the late 1970s.

Louisiana Wookie?
The Monster Legend Of Honey Island
By TCC Team Member Dorraine Fisher
Honey Island Swamp - is it home to a Monster!

Legends of monsters in the swamp have permeated the bayou country of Louisiana for well over a
hundred years. But sometimes there’s a reason legends persist.
Honey Island Swamp in southern Louisiana is a stretch of land 27 miles long and seven miles wide. Thick pine forests make up the northern portion, and the southern portion consists of 70,000 acres of protected swampland not easily accessible by humans except by boat or on foot. Many dangerous animals make their home there, including black bears, alligators, and feral hogs. But some say, that in the deepest, darkest recesses of the area, there is another creature that calls this place home.
Known as the Louisiana wookie (due to its reported resemblance to the Star Wars character) or the Honey Island swamp monster, it was first spotted in the 1960s when humans began exploring further into the remote areas of the swamp.
The first documented sighting was in 1963 when a man named Harlan E. Ford and his friend Ray Mills were hunting in the area. They came across a large, hairy creature standing over a dead boar with its throat ripped out.

This is a look at Louisiana

food for wildlife
Sometimes people question if sasquatch could even live in Louisiana, well from what we know about it..the answer would have to be a big Yes.

Louisiana has an annual rainfall total of 59 inches per year making it the wettest state in the union. A Prime setting for sasquatch and many other animals.
Louisiana is home to a wide variety of wildlife every thing from Alligators to wild Turkeys. It also has some great fishing.

But what about Bigfoot? well according to the BFRO there is 40 reported sightings.
Here is the link if you want to read the reports BFRO LA reports .
One could easily assume that there is numerous sightings that go unreported each year as well.

With it's numerous plant life, wide variety of wild life and it's abundance of water Louisiana is well suited for a population of sasquatch.

Lets not forget that LA is also home of Honey Island Swamp Monster which in itself is a interesting story.
So all you people in Louisiana keep an eye out for the big guy and shoot us an email once you see him.
Thanks
Tom
