Vacationing with Ghost
by Sharon Day

I just finished up reading Vacationing with Ghost by Sharon Day. I think, I read this book faster than I have any other book in recent memory, which is a testimony to the author for keeping me interested.

Day writes about her childhood days in her family's summer home. The local folks in the area are an interesting lot and Day does a good job capturing their appearances and personalities.

While reading the book, you get the feeling you are there, feeling the sand on the bottom of your feet, smelling the water or maybe the sounds of an approaching storm. Day does an excellent job at detailing the landscape and describing her feelings.

While this book is essentially a glance into Sharon Day's brushes with the spirit world as a youth growing up, it is also much more. It is a glimpse into her personal and family life that will bring back memories of the readers childhood.  Remember, before the Internet, how kids used their on imaginations and made up games to play. I for one, remember growing up and playing "Cops and Robbers". We would use our bikes and chase each other for hours. Kids don't seem to play like this nowadays, maybe they still should.

Vacationing with Ghost is filled with everything from creepy things to adventure to interesting people to pirate tales and more. Where the book really nails it down though, is the ending. I will not give it way but I can't think of any better way for this book to have ended.

I should also note a couple other things about the book that some might find interesting. Firstly, the book has quite a few pictures which really lends to the story and Secondly, there are some actual home cooking recipes after the ending. If you're like me, the recipes will come in handy.

So in closing, I can say I truly enjoyed the book and enjoyed learning more about Sharon Day and her family. I recommend you give the book a read, especially if you are interested in ghost and have a sense of adventure.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Thanks
~Tom~

Bigfoot Witness Interview - Mary Katherine Scruggs

This is an interview with Mary Katherine Scruggs from Alabama. Some of you may have heard of her or at least heard one of her recent audio capture of a possible Baby Bigfoot crying. It seems there has been Bigfoot activity around her property for some time now.

The photo shown during the interview were provided by Mary Katherine and Robin Roberts.

Here is the interview.

Ghost Hunting With Infrared Technology

Replace Fear Of The Unknown With Curiosity

Ghosts have been of significant interest to the human race for centuries. Cultures all around the world believe in spirits that survive death to live in another realm.  They are actually the most widely believed of all paranormal phenomena.  The search for proof of afterlife based paranormal activity has become more popular in recent years, due in part because of cable TV's hit series like “Ghost Hunters.”

Ghost hunting can often however be a deceptively complex exercise.  Fortunately technological advancements have allowed the development of increasingly effective methods and tools that allow paranormal investigators help explain these paranormal phenomena.

Diagnostic instruments based on infrared technology have been used extensively over the years in the search for ghosts.  As these devices have become more affordable they are now widely used by both professional and amateur ghost hunters alike.  The reason for their popularity is because they can detect one of the key indicators of the presence of paranormal activity. Temperature!

It’s All About The Surface

In considering the purchase of either of these infrared devices, it is important to understand that they are only able to measure the surface temperature of objects and not the ambient air temperature.  Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to see less reputable sources and sellers of these products suggesting that these devices will be able to measure fluctuations in ambient air temperature.  This is simply not the case.

This would perhaps leave many people wondering why anyone would consider adding one of these devices to their ghost hunting kit?  The reason these instruments play such an important role in ghost hunting centers on the important task of eliminating non-paranormal explanations of evidence that might otherwise suggest a ghostly presence.

Ghostly activity is often associated with sudden and dramatic drops in localized temperature which are known as ‘cold spots.’  The presence of a cold spot is not automatically definitive proof of paranormal activity however when there may be environmental or other explanations for decreases in temperature.  An infrared thermometer or thermal imaging camera can however quickly eliminate many of these other possible explanations, such as air ingress from windows or vents.  Being able to disqualify false indicators of paranormal activity is a critical task for any ghost hunter and these instruments are able to do this extremely quickly and effectively.

Recommended Equipment

Infrared Thermometer

As with many items of technology there are a wide variety of models available with a range of different features.  A basic infrared thermometer will enable ghost hunters to measure the surface temperatures of common objects like walls and other non-reflective materials reliably and efficiently.  High quality models for these tasks can be purchased for between $20.00 and $50.00.

There are some more advanced models which come with the ability to measure not only surface temperature, but ambient air temperature as well courtesy of a K-type slot for a thermocouple.  These models would be ideal for those who do not have a separate device to measure air temperature and will enable them to be able to detect both forms of temperature from the same device at the same time.

Thermal Imaging Camera

Thermal cameras are becoming increasingly popular, especially as their price continues to come down while their quality and features improve.  That said, budgetary considerations are likely to play a role in the decision-making process as to which model most consumers will look to buy.

The benefits of a thermal camera cannot however be overstated.  They are able to quickly scan a large surface area or multiple objects very quickly.  The ability to clearly view temperature hot and cold spots via the thermal image displayed on the screen allows users to assess whether there may be natural sources for any temperature fluctuations.  Many models also come with dual thermal and digital cameras, which eliminate the need for carrying additional equipment on the job.

More advanced models come with greater resolution of the thermal detector for clearer imaging and video recording capabilities, but also come with a greater price tag.  Realistically, it is not likely that these features are required for ghost hunting purposes and a more affordable model will perform just as admirably.

Feared By Ghosts, Loved By Hunters

Compared to yesteryear, the ability to prove or disprove the presence of ghosts and other paranormal phenomena is greatly enhanced with the use of infrared technology.  It is an exciting prospect for ghost hunters that these instruments are more widely available and in the future will come with even more advanced features.  They have multiple applications which can be used to save money and which will offset the initial cost of purchase.

In the realm of ghost hunting the ability to quickly and definitively rule out other explanations for indicators of paranormal phenomena is of critical importance.  The time to turn the tables has arrived.  Good luck haunting the ghosts!

Hooks,TX
I got in this report of a strange smell and odd behavior from some dogs. Nothing was actually seen, so I guess this will just remain as an unknown for now.

Here is the report.

-Start Report-
Name: William ****
Email Address: on file
State: Texas
County: Bowie
Date of Sighting: 2/4/15
Time of Day: 7:30 PM
Nearest Town: Hooks Tx,
Length of Sighting: about 30 min.
How many Witnesses: 1 just me
Any Photos/Videos: no
Describe sighting in detail:
I'm not shore if this is a sighting or what it was. I was in my back yard working on my boat and I got a very strong odor of something.
It almost smelled like very strong human body odor and wet dog mixed. I have three dogs two small and one big, they barked at it and ran in to the woods with it. They quit barking and started playing, they would run in and out of the woods kind of like they had just found a long lost friend.
Like I stated I don't know what it was I never seen it. I just smelled it and the closest it could have been was maybe 20 yards. I have never smelled any one that could smell that bad and have a dog that smelled that bad as well.
Will bigfoot make friends with dogs are would he eat them? I kept looking in the woods with my light and I could not see any thing.

-End Report-

Thanks for the report, William. As for your question about dogs and Bigfoot. I have heard it said both ways. That Bigfoot get along fine with dogs and others who say they do not. I can only go by my personal experience, I had 2 hunting dogs around a Bigfoot once and they  were terrified. They would "booger" bark it and had their tails between their legs. I hope to tell this full story someday.

I'm interested to hear what others have to say about Bigfoot and dogs, please feel free to let us know what your experience with Bigfoot and dogs has been.

Thanks
~Tom~

Cave Creature Updates!

Unknown Cave Creature in Tennessee Update Part 3

Here is an update on the Cave Creature story from Tennessee. Those who may not have read or watched anything about this story can catch up by reading Post 1 and Part 2.

I have been fortunate enough to obtain some of the written history and the old 1696 document. (Thanks Leslie).
Plus there is even more information about the history of the area and what is currently going on at the cave to identify the unknown creature.

This video includes some of the history of the cave and more of the translation of the old 1696 document.

Is this an actual picture of a REAL MIB?

Unreleased Photos of UFOs and MIB!

I recently got a hold of some mostly unreleased UFO photos from back in the '50s or '60s.
The person who contacted me and sent them to me wishes to remain anonymous. Supposedly these photos belonged to a reporter who had covered UFO cases and they had never published the vast majority of the pictures. Some of the photos are of old newspaper headings.

These photos are from the actual negatives, they were projected onto a screen and then a photo was taken of them.

It is also reported that of all the pictures only one was deemed to be a fake. This is only a small sample of the images and I hope to have the rest of them and the actual negatives in my possession soon. I will do a follow-up to this at some point after receiving and examining the negatives.

Of all the photos I received so far,  the most interesting one is of what was described as a "man in black" or a MIB. I have featured the photo at the top of this post. It appears this possible MIB is taking down the witness account of a UFO report. To me the witness seems rather intimidating looking, you can tell it more in the video below.

Of the UFO photos, there are a couple where it seems you can see windows or port holes on the craft.

Here is the video, the features several photos and more about the images.

Remains of something

I was zooming around the internet and ran across this story of some remains being found in Chile. The story basically says that these remains are from a couple young Chupacabras, also known as Goat suckers. The remains were found by a farmer. They where found on top of some stacks of hay.

Some people at first thought the almost mummified remains were of bats but upon closer inspection this was ruled out.

No size was given of the creatures but they appear to be rather small to me. They have sharp looking teeth and claws and I'm guessing that is why they assumed this could be what was left of a couple young Chupacabaras.

Here is a close up of the skull of one of the creatures.
Skull of unknown creature.
So what to you think it could be? I personally, as someone else mentioned, think it might be baby kittens that where abandoned by their mother and just died. The heat from being in a barn or other enclosure caused them to dry out and become mummified.

Thanks
~Tom~

Skunk ape?
I have not really gave this very much coverage because to me it is clearly a hoax and just the next stage in the "Bathing Bigfoot" story. But thanks to the fine folks over at  http://cryptozoologynews.com/ - we now have the unedited, HD version of the video. Not only that they have done a little investigating themselves and here is what they had to say about it.

"This is the original file as it was sent to us. We also interviewed the witness and that is currently the only one interview available....... You can hear the two subjects on the canoe laughing at the end. We have established the coordinates for the exact spot as well as other details.
In early January, as you probably remember, there was the photograph of that "Bigfoot" in the same swamp. It turned out to be a hoax, as expected from the start. What's strange is that this new video has now taken place at the same location....There is something about it that doesn't add up. It looks too human to us."

Here is the unedited video courtesy of Cryptozoology News

Now, If I might inject a little of my opinion about this, Notice there is no reaction from the people in the canoe, they are not excited, they are not scared, they really have no reaction at all. As for the "bigfoot" itself, it looks clumsy and seem to have difficultly stepping over the small downed tree at the first of the video.

Almost all Bigfoot sightings in Florida are nothing more than rogue monkeys. There is a large population of them. As for this video, it is nothing more than a guy in a suit carrying out stage two of the "bathing Bigfoot" hoax.

Will there be a stage 3?

A big thanks to Cryptozoology News for letting us use their video and information.

Thanks
~Tom~

Bigfoot Witness Interview

Interview with Angelo about his Bigfoot sighting near Cimarron, New Mexico.  We also retrace the route that Angelo was driving that night and discuss some of the strange sounds around his home.

Here is the interview.
Deer and Sasquatch, is there a connection (Photo: ©Dorraine Fisher)

Are Deer Traits And Behaviors Influenced By Predators Like Sasquatch?
And Why Should We Care?
By Dorraine Fisher

Ever since Janice Carter told National Geographic that Bigfoot hunted deer on her property in Tennessee, it has slowly become an accepted theory that deer are one of a sasquatch’s main food sources. This, backed up by the observation that most bigfoot sightings happen in areas most densely populated with deer or other similar animals, and that deer are a large primate’s main hope for enough food to sustain it in these areas. So are deer traits and behaviors influenced by those that prey on them? Like maybe sasquatches? And why should we care?

My grandfather told me years ago that if I wanted to study a predator (in this case, Sasquatches) I should study their food, which here, we theorize is deer. Follow their food, and that predator will be somewhere around close too.  And both creatures’ existence intertwines.

I’ve found that to sometimes solve a problem or make any breakthroughs, I have to stop and look at the whole thing from a different perspective.  And I have a very high deer population in my area that’s very accessible and very close to an area where there has been believed to be sasquatch activity in recent years.  And I wanted to go out and get some pictures of them anyway; hopefully some really good ones.  And to get good wildlife shots, you have to think and act like a hunter. So it was a good opportunity to get in some practice getting closer to them and do some unofficial experiments.  That is, after I read up on the known facts about them. And I wanted to know if I could find anything new about them…from the perspective of a person who believes bigfoot could be roaming the same forest areas.

 But first, the facts.

*Whitetails blend amazingly well with their surroundings. They are a beautiful reddish-brown color in the warmer months and more of a grayish-brown during the stark winter months.

*They have a four-chambered stomach that allows them to digest the wide variety of plant foods they eat.  So they are cud chewers like cows. They don’t chew much while they’re eating, and later, when they rest, they regurgitate the food and chew it again.

*They have scent glands in their feet that leave scent trails and allow them to communicate with other deer.

*Whitetails get their name from the dense white hair on the underside of their tales. They use this as a warning signal to other deer. They’ll blow air hard through their nostrils and throw their tails into the air like flags when they’re alarmed.

*They can run at speeds that are recorded to reach 30 mph. (48 Kilometers)

*They can jump over objects up to nine feet high. (3 meters)

*They can leap distances of up to 30 feet. (9 meters)

*They basically stay in a single territory their entire lives, never leaving, unless they’re driven out by predators or human expansion. They usually run together in small herds led by an older female.

*A full-grown whitetail will reach heights of up to 3 feet and weigh up to 200 lbs.

*Their average life span is around 11 years.

*Whitetails can populate quickly. Females, known as does, give birth to one to three offspring at a time, usually in May or June. And an average whitetail can produce up to 35 babies in its 7-year lifespan.  The babies, called fawns, are born reddish-brown with white spots to blend in with their spring surroundings.

*A whitetail’s eyes see very well in up to a 310 degree wide-angle range without moving its head. But they are believed to have trouble focusing in on objects and to be color-blind.

*They have a very keen sense of hearing and it’s believed they can measure how far away a sound is by listening. Muscles in their head allow them to see and hear without moving their heads. And their ears move independently in all directions so they can hear all around them without moving their heads.

*Only the bucks grow antlers which can have varying numbers of “points” or tines. I’ve seen up to ten points. During mating season, also called rut, they use them to fight over territory and the right to mate with does in that territory.

*Bucks mark their territory by scraping bark from trees with their antlers.

Not more than 15 feet from her, I was trying to get this doe to turn and look at me so I could take her picture. But even though I was so close, she was more interested in a possibly bigger threat in the other direction. She was listening to the crows cawing about a quarter mile away sounding an alarm that there was a predator or other disturbance in the woods in that direction. Then the deer in that area slowly moved to the opposite end of the preserve away from the sounds of the crows. (Photo:©Dorraine Fisher)

And so, if deer are a sasquatches sustaining food source, how has that shaped deer behavior and evolution? Has it shaped it at all?  I found more questions than answers, but the questions raise new ideas about the behavior and evolution of both creatures.  And these are observations of deer in my area. There is no guarantee that other deer would behave the same. I’m not a scientist, and these are my opinions about them from spending hours watching them.  You can take these and 4 and a half bucks and buy a fancy cup of coffee. But here goes.

*I’ve wondered for years why deer seem to be so terribly skittish. And I really started wondering when I nearly hit one last summer as it darted out in front of my truck in wide-eyed terror.  What are they so afraid of?  Yes, there are coyotes around my area, and maybe even an occasional bobcat.  But I wondered if either of those predators would instill the kind of terror I saw in this animal’s eyes. Just curious.

*Yes, they jump at the snap of a twig, but have you ever wondered why that is? Have you ever wondered if there might be a reason for such behavior; like they’ve learned that the snap of a twig means danger?  And to hear wood knocks seems to send them into a panic. I tried this several times during the summer with the same reaction. That is, after my encounter in the summer of 2012 when I heard loud wood knocks and heard deer running in circles in the woods, only to have two fawns nearly knock me over trying to get away from…whatever it was. Yes, deer are very jumpy, but wood knocks seemed to bother them much more; much more than even my truck door slamming or dogs barking in the distance.  Some sounds didn’t seem to bother them much at all.

*Deer respond quickly to the alarms of other animals. Very often, it’s the crows that give the warning.  I’ve witnessed deer leaving an area when the crows start squawking an alarm that I’m there.  Many times the deer won’t move out of the area completely until the crows have decided I’m a threat. It’s just interesting.  If the crows sound the alarm that I’m there, then they would certainly send out an alarm about any other predator or disturbance. It was frustrating trying to get close to the deer when the crows were around, but I also decided that the crows could be an asset. They know about all the little disturbances in the woods before I do…and they’re all too ready to tell me all about it.  Crazy questions started to run through my mind. Could they be an indicator of ANY predator that might be lurking? Like maybe even a sasquatch?

*Whitetail territory is amazingly small, perhaps a square mile or so. As long as there’s enough food and safety, I find the exact same deer in nearly the same areas every day at the same time of day, especially during cud-chewing time.  Usually older females with their offspring and younger followers.  Males tend to wander more but still seem to stay close to the same small territory, especially if the does are there also.  But I’ve heard some people asking if sasquatches migrate.  Predators usually follow their favorite prey. Deer generally do not migrate, but does this mean sasquatches don’t migrate either?  Most creatures move if their food source runs out or migrates to another area…or they’re driven out by humans.

*A deer can be brought down by a bobcat or coyote. But these predators have trouble bringing down a healthy full-grown adult whitetail.  Of course, a deer that runs out in front of your vehicle could be running from any other predator. But when they’re running at top speed in total terror, with no regard for anything else that could kill them, like your car, in areas of sasquatch sightings, I have to wonder if there isn’t more to the story of these events.

*Whitetails are said to be able to run up to 30 mph, but I speculate that they can move faster in certain situations. A friend of mine observed a whitetail running in a corn field beside his truck as he was traveling around approximately 40 mph. Of course, this was not a scientific test.  But I believe in cases of fear and panic, adrenaline may move them much faster than we think.

*Of course, gunshots disturb them, but hunting season is really only a small part of their year. Do the sounds of gunshots bother them because they’re familiar with the sound of guns? Or is it because the popping noise of shotguns resembles a loud wood knock? Something they may hear on regular basis all year long? I just wonder.

Of course, I’m only speculating about all of this. These are my own crazy questions and curiosities.  But the reason I do this is to think about it differently and look at it all from a different angle, and to hopefully find something new to contribute.

An animal’s traits and behaviors are influenced by its food source and its danger source. There is no way this could be avoided. Animals evolve better ways to cope and survive with the challenges around them. If not, they simply don’t survive at all. So if deer are the main food source of a sasquatch, the deer have a story to tell about what’s hunting them and they’ve evolved to deal with that.

Maybe this all seems a bit simplistic, but sometimes it comes down to obvious, simple  things.  Sometimes the answer is right in front of us and we don’t see it because we think it should be more complicated.   Like this photo story I’m calling The Whitetail Project, anytime there’s a puzzler like bigfoot on the prowl, if you hit a wall in trying to find answers, and you can’t make a breakthrough, try looking at it from the other side of the fence.

Strange Howl recorded in Canada

Strange Howl recorded in Canada

This odd howl was recorded in Alert Bay, Canada by Tina Duck on 1/25/15. The audio was really low and almost impossible to hear.
She was needing someone to bring out the howl she heard and she allow me to attempt to enhance the audio. You can now hear it but what is making this sound?

Here is the video with the enhanced sound.

What Are The Ohio Howls?
And Why Are They So Compelling To Sasquatch Research?
By Dorraine Fisher

If you take a look at the population of Bigfoot sightings on the sightings map on the BFRO (Bigfoot Field Research Organization) website, you’ll find the number of Ohio sightings compare well with the numbers of sightings in the Pacific-Northwest. It’s one of the top states for sightings in the U.S.

In 1994, researcher and BFRO founder, Matt Moneymaker, recorded these howls in Columbiana County, near Wellsville, on the Ohio River. And it’s still considered one of the most compelling pieces of sound recording evidence for the existence of Bigfoot. It has the guttural quality of a very large creature and doesn’t sound like any known animal in Ohio.

But you don’t have to take my word for it. Listen and see what you think.
