Big Legend
Running Time: 89 mins
Amazon Link - Click Here

Big Legend has a notable cast that includes Todd A. Robinson, Kevin Makely, and two home run hitters in Lance Henriksen and Adrienne Barbeau. So, right off the film has name recognition.

The story line is pretty straight forward, an ex-soldier ventures into the Pacific Northwest with his girlfriend for a relaxing romantic retreat. Then things go horribly wrong when his girlfriend is taken by an unseen creature. The ex soldier returns to the forest to uncover the truth behind his fiance's disappearance.

NEW FILM ‘VALLEY OF THE SASQUATCH’ TAKES INSPIRATION FROM REAL LIFE BIGFOOT ENCOUNTERS

Seattle, WA –February 24th, 2015– The new horror film Valley of the Sasquatch recently began its film festival run with a world premiere last weekend at the Nevermore Film Festival in North Carolina. But for writer/director John Portanova, the process of bringing this story of a fractured family battling a tribe of angry Sasquatch to life was years in the making.

“Growing up I spent most of my free time studying cryptozoology and the unknown,” Portanova said. “Instead of going outside and playing for recess, I would read books from the 001 section of the library about encounters with Bigfoot or alien abductions. My after school viewing habits consisted of watching paranormal investigation shows such as Unsolved Mysteries or Sightings. Years later when I graduated from film school, I took some time off so I could write my first real screenplay. There was only one idea that really inspired me: making a scary and action-packed movie that respected the history of Sasquatch.”

Portanova continues, “Within the film there is a moment where the character of Will (played by D’Angelo Midili) tells the story of a Sasquatch attack on a mining cabin that took place on Mount St. Helens in 1924. Some of my favorite movies are siege films, especially the classics Night of the Living Dead (1968) and Assault on Precinct 13 (1976). So, inspired by the Mount St. Helens story, I set out to write a Bigfoot siege film. I created some characters who find themselves in a similar situation, where they’re trapped in a cabin and Bigfoot is trying to break its way in.”

“There are also references to other Sasquatch classics sprinkled throughout the script,” adds Portanova. “The character of Bauman (played by Bill Oberst Jr.) is named after a character who appeared in Teddy Roosevelt’s book The Wilderness Hunter in 1892. Within the book Roosevelt relayed the story of a man named Bauman who encountered Sasquatch while out trapping with a guide. This story always fascinated me because it’s one of the only references I’ve seen to Bigfoot taking a human life. The opening of the film features a fictional take on this story, set in present day with our Bauman. A larger subplot later in the film took inspiration from the story of Albert Ostman, who said that he was kidnapped by a family of Bigfoot for six days in 1924. In our film, a character finds himself in a similar situation with a much angrier group of Sasquatch.”

“With Valley of the Sasquatch I wanted to tell an engaging story for the cryptozoology community,” Portanova concludes. “I’ve seen a lot of Bigfoot films and have never been completely satisfied with them outside of some of the 70s classics such as The Legend of Boggy Creek or Sasquatch: The Legend of Bigfoot.

They usually portray the creature as a bloodthirsty monster, treat the whole thing like some big joke, or are shot found footage style. Within the script and shooting of Valley I made sure to treat Sasquatch with respect. It isn’t a slasher film that just replaces Jason Voorhees with a Bigfoot, it isn’t full of cheap CGI and stupid characters, and it wasn’t shot on a handycam. I hope that the film will appeal to horror fans looking for a dramatic creature feature full of old school practical effects as much as it appeals to Sasquatch enthusiasts looking for a film that understands and respects the history of the creature.”

Valley of the Sasquatch is the directorial debut of writer/director John Portanova. It stars David Saucedo (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones), Bill Oberst Jr. (Resolution), Jason Vail (Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies), D'Angelo Midili (The Invoking), and Miles Joris-Peyrafitte (Gut).

The film is a co-production between The October People (Found) and Votiv Films (Obvious Child). You can keep up with future festival screenings and news by following the film on its Facebook page (Facebook.com/ValleyoftheSasquatch) or on Twitter (@SasquatchHorror).

Valley of the Sasquatch Synopsis: After losing their home following a devastating tragedy, a father and son are forced to move to an old family cabin. Neither reacts well to being thrown into this new world. The son's attempts to relate to his father are complicated when two old friends arrive for a weekend of hunting. This trip into the forest will unearth not only buried feelings of guilt and betrayal, but also a tribe of Sasquatch that are determined to protect their land.

About The October People: The October People is a film production company based out of Seattle, WA and San Diego, CA. 2014 saw the home video releases of their first three award-winning films: the psychological horror story The Invoking, the coming-of-age slasher film Found, and the alien abduction thriller The Device. Bad Bigfoot
I thought I would take just a little time today and write a short post about some bad Bigfoot picture and costumes.

A bad Bigfoot image can from a wide range of sources. From the low budget costume makers to the cheesy low budget horror movie to the serial and/or casual hoaxer.  Lets take a look at some of these bad Bigfoots!

Well, this Bigfoot looks happy! Maybe it's because it finally found a pair of shoe that fit. No more sore feet. This is not from a hoax or anything but a print that you can purchase. I was going to link to the site but it appears to have a virus ....so can't do it.

This Bigfoot is not a terrible effort considering it is made out of wigs from Wal-mart, but I have seen much better from Mark Cline. For those who don't know, Mark has been making stuff like this for years. Stuff like a giant 50 foot tall dinosaurs and Foamhenge. Foamhenge is a Stone henge replica made out of of ...you guessed it ...Foam.
Mark has a roadside attraction located in Natural Bridge, VA.
Check out his youtube video Hunt Bigfoot with a Redneck to see this Bigfoot in action.

I don't know much about this one. The body looks decent but the big mouth and fangs are pretty wild. Hey, maybe it is a Bigfoot Vampire?  What I do know about it is that it is from the film Night Claws starring Frank Stallone.  It was shot in Mobile, AL back in 2001. It was another "Killer Bigfoot" movie.  Why is it most Bigfoot movies show Bigfoot as a crazed killer? ...Bigfoot needs a better agent.

This photo was presented by none other than Rick Dyer. I think it was taken while he was on an expedition in Florida.  Best I can remember, Dyer claimed that someone hoaxed him by dressing up in a suit.

Again, don't know much about this Bigfoot but he has the David Letterman teeth and looks a bit "slow", if you know what I mean.  Could this be from a movie ....if so I'm hoping it was a comedy.

Bad movie Bigfoot. I think this is from the movie Suburban Sasquatch. Its your typical "the beast is on a blood thirsty rampage" movie. Arms and legs getting ripped off ....but hey that might be your thing.

Maybe the worst looking Bigfoot in the movies. Curse of Bigfoot - this is a terrible attempt at creating a Bigfoot creature but hey it was made back in like the 70's and it was a mummified Bigfoot ...so maybe we can overlook it. If you are so inclined you can watch the film for Free by Clicking Here.

Now, don't tell me you have seen Bigfoot up close and have been interacting with them and then tell me this glass eyed monster from Todd Standing is real. This Bigfoot has that far way look in his eyes, that blank stare ....maybe it's over medicated?  ..Staring contest ...GO!

So, there you have it. Some of my picks for the "Bad Bigfoot" club. Please don't take it too seriously this post is meant to be somewhat lighthearted. I'm sure if you look around you can find some better than these.

Bigfoot for entertainment is fine, just be upfront about it, but hoaxing, lying and being dishonest just to make money is not acceptable to most people.

Of course any serious researcher who takes the subject seriously, needs funding and support but never be dishonest or pull hoaxes just to get funding, it only hurts the rest of us and the field in general.

Thanks

Willow Creek
Rated: Not Rated, Running time: 80 minutes
Director: Bobcat Goldthwait

First let me start off with this, if you do not have an interest in Bigfoot or know a little about the history or behavior of Bigfoot, then do not even attempt to watch this movie.

This movie is about a novice Bigfoot researcher and his totally unbelieving girlfriend going to camp in the famous Bluff Creek area where Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin shot the famous Patty footage in 1967.

At first I found the film somewhat entertaining with the funny one liners and seeing all the Bigfoot related spots in the Bluff Creek area. I really liked the look of the Bigfoot Burger, I would like to try one of them. For those who don't know, the Bigfoot burger is a giant hamburger on bread that looks like a foot and let me tell ya it looked good.

There are also some interviews with people who tell about the area and sightings. During this part of the film it seems as if the subject of Bigfoot is being made fun of. It seems the opportunity was lost to really drive home the fact about Bigfoot sightings in the area. The interviewees come off as weird and slightly crazy. Oddly, the Cliff Barackman interview was left out of the movie but is offered in the bonus segment of the DVD. Barackman's interview was entertaining and informative, why it was left out of the final version of the film is beyond me.

In about the middle of the film there is a real lull. It takes place while the young couple is inside the tent and are awaken by odd sounds. During this part of the film the audio is so low you can't hear what the couple are saying and the odd sounds are hard to hear. Later as the sounds get closer you can hear wood knocks, howls and some rocks being thrown. Sadly this as close to a Bigfoot you get in the film.

Now for the ending, as the Bigfoots stalk the two young campers out of the area, we are treated with more howls and rock throwing. Once night falls the now lost couple are sitting in the dark and scared. Then we get a glimpse of a bizarre naked female figure, possibly a local missing woman ..... I'll stop right there with the details but let me finish by just saying I found the ending weird. Director Bobcat Goldthwait has a history of weird and thought provoking films to his credit, so for some this might fall into that category.

Overall the film had some moments but in the end I was disappointed in it.

As some of you may know we did a small post about a movie name Nightbeasts starring Zach Galligan (Gremlins), well there is even more good news for the film. A deal was signed to show the film on 200 theatrical and drive-in movie screens across the USA starting in June.
Also the movie is scheduled to come out on DVD in October and on streaming services. I personally would like to watch this one, it looks pretty good and I like the Native American angle.
The official movie website is www.nightbeasts.com

Bigfoot The Lost Coast Tapes
Rated: Not Rated
(Does contain strong language)
Running Time: 89 minutes
DVD Movie Review
by
Thomas Marcum

I didn't really know much about this movie but after reading the back of the case I thought it sounded like it could be good. Here is the basic plotline:  A documentary film crew hears of a hunters claims of having the body of a dead sasquatch, so they get in contact with him and meet up to see the body. All the while filming and documenting every step of the adventure expecting to expose it all as a hoax.

At the first of the movie it has a real Blair Witch type feeling to it, with the first person filming, but after the movie gets going a little and the group gets into the woods the camcorder effect is much less and makes the movie more watchable.
The acting is better than average and the mountain scenery is beautiful, it was filmed in an area of Northern California. There are some good line exchanges between the "believers" and "skeptics" during the film about the real world bigfoot film by Roger Patterson, which adds to the films content and is a plus in my opinion.

As the movie moves along there is a good build up of mystery after some events happen at the cabin, but sadly the movie takes a major nose dive in the last quarter of the film. I don't want to give away too much, but after finishing the movie I felt like the film makers really missed a big opportunity at having something truly special with the film by blowing the ending.  It's the last 20-30 minutes of the movie that really brings it down, in my opinion, as it turns into a typical blood and guts horror movie. Still the trip of the skeptics to believers is a enjoyable ride.

The only other real problem I had with the movie was that you never really see bigfoot, only some faint outlines or maybe a quick foot shot, Another lost opportunity.

All in all I enjoyed the film but would love to go back and rewrite the last 30 minutes of it. This is one of the better bigfoot films and should be watched by the bigfoot community.

Rating: 3 out of 5

Thanks

Throwback movie poster

"Throwback" is the forthcoming horror/adventure feature film from Australian writer/director Travis Bain, due for completion in 2013.

Plot Outline
Two modern-day treasure hunters -- Jack ( Shawn Brack) and Kent (Anthony Ring) -- who go searching for the lost gold of a legendary outlaw in the remote wilds of Far North Queensland. But instead of riches, they find a different kind of legend, a ferocious Australian monster known as a Yowie, Australia's answer to Bigfoot, and a savage battle for survival ensues. Thrown into the mix are a park ranger named Rhiannon and an ex-homicide detective named McNab.
Starring - Shawn Brack, Anthony Ring, Melanie Serafin, Warren Clements, Andy Bramble, Mike Elliott, Trevor Garvey,Vernon Wells.

Vernon Wells was recently added to the cast and many should know him from roles in "Mad Max: The Road Warrior", "Commando" and "Weird Science" just to name a few. Wells has been cast in the film as John McNab, a former homicide detective who has been suspended for insubordination.
In the film McNab believes there’s a serial killer lurking in the jungle killing hikers and sets out to catch him.

This film really shows some promise of actually being good and watchable. Many bigfoot movies in recent years have been very disappointing to say the least. This film seems to have a solid storyline which seems to have been lacking in some of the other recent bigfoot films.

So we wish the "Throwback" cast and crew good luck with the film and we hope to see it soon.

Grindstone Entertainment has acquired North American rights to the micro-budget  thriller "Bigfoot County," and will explore release options for late this year.

NOT a frame from the movie - used as reference only

Described as "Deliverance" plus "Blair Witch" meets Bigfoot, chiller is fashioned from footage ostensibly taken by a group of filmmakers who disappeared in Northern California's Bigfoot-sighting hotspot of Siskiyou County.
Stewart also produced with Richard Halpern. Grindstone will release "Bigfoot County" through Lionsgate Home Entertainment.
"I went up to shoot a movie on Bigfoot, then a local I met with presented me with evidence that blew my mind," says director Stephon Stewart. "After seeing this film, you will begin to believe what many have doubted since the 1967 Patterson/Gimlin Bigfoot Footage was released."

"Throwback" is the second feature film from Australian writer/director Travis Bain. His first feature, "Scratched" was one of the four finalists in the 2005 digiSPAA Digital Feature Film Festival.

Two modern-day treasure hunters -- Jack (Shawn Brack) and Kent (Anthony Ring) -- venture into the remote jungles of Far North Queensland in search of lost bushranger gold. But their adventure goes terribly awry when they are threatened by a savage creature, a legendary monster known as a Yowie, Australia's answer to Bigfoot. Together with a female park ranger named Rhiannon (Melanie Serafin) and a burnt-out ex-homicide detective, Jack and Kent find themselves locked in a battle for survival as the territorial Yowie tries to ensure they never leave its domain alive.

"Throwback" is currently in production in Cairns, Far North Queensland. Filming is taking place on a Canon HV20 HDV camcorder in 1080p resolution. The final film will be matted to CinemaScope 2.35:1. The final cut is due for completion in 2013.

"Throwback" is an homage to genre films of the '50s through to the '70s that shaped Travis Bain's childhood. Influences on "Throwback" include:

* The bigfoot drive-in films of the '70s, including "The Legend of Boggy Creek" and "Creature from Black Lake."
* Other '70s classics such as "Deliverance."
* '50s monster movies such as "Creature from the Black Lagoon."
* The westerns of Anthony Mann and Budd Boetticher.
* The neo-westerns of Walter Hill.
* The creature features of William Girdler, i.e. "Day of the Animals" and "Grizzly."
* The films of Terrence Malick.

A full trailer for "Throwback" will be released later in 2012. To find out more about "Throwback", please visit www.travisbain.com.au
