Big Legend has a notable cast that includes Todd A. Robinson, Kevin Makely, and two home run hitters in Lance Henriksen and Adrienne Barbeau. So, right off the film has name recognition.
The story line is pretty straight forward, an ex-soldier ventures into the Pacific Northwest with his girlfriend for a relaxing romantic retreat. Then things go horribly wrong when his girlfriend is taken by an unseen creature. The ex soldier returns to the forest to uncover the truth behind his fiance's disappearance.
I went into the film knowing that it was probably your run of the mill killer bigfoot film. Then, as I started watching it I notice the film quality was good, a notch above many other bigfoot slasher films.
One thing that helps set this film apart from some of the others is the fact time is taken to establish the characters at the first of the film. At first, in some ways, it almost feels like a a romance movie, then it goes off the rails and becomes a horror film. Some may feel this bogs down the film but for me, I don't mind it if it lets me get to know the characters more.
Once ex solder Tyler Laird returns to look for his fiance the show becomes much more interesting. During his quest for answers he runs into another interesting character, who is camping in the forest. The two men kind of join forces and seem to have a common goal, but something seems off. There is also some other underlying elements to the film that I will not give away.
In the end, the film is pretty good and worth a watch. It's not over the top with gore, the acting is pretty good and the creature looks good. I've seen some bigfoot films where the bigfoot creature didn't look very good and it really distracts from the film. But that is not the case with this film.
I don't think anyone will be blown away with the film but it's not a bad way to kill a couple of hours.
Of course, as I watched the movie I also looked for things that might appeal to not only horror fans, but bigfoot enthusiast as well. During the film we are treated to some wood knocks and some stealthy movement of the creature. Overall the bigfoot creature looks good. Some of course will not like the fact that bigfoot is portrayed as a killer but that is okay.
While I enjoyed the film, it may not appeal to everyone. I personally think it is worth watching, even though it has some slow parts. I guess you will have to give it a try and see what you think about it, Chief.

Adrienne Barbeau looks wonderful. I haven't seen her in a long time. Glad to see that she is still active in film.
