Crazy Bears and Moons Coming Down From the Sky
There are some who will tell you that they believe bigfoot came from the stars. Although to some this seems to be one of the "newer" paranormal theories, stories of tall, hairy creatures and lights in the sky are not something new.
One story that has stuck in my mind during my research into sasquatch is one coming from 1888. [I made a brief reference to it in a post a couple of years ago : "Bigfoot and UFOs in Pennsylvania, part 2" February 16, 2018.] Now I'd like to tell "the rest of the story".
In 1971 the late Brad Steiger [paranormal investigator and author] received a letter from James C. Wyatt of Memphis, Tennessee. Wyatt had in his possession a copy of his grandfather's journal from 1888. In this journal, the grandfather made references to a bigfoot-type creature. Wyatt sent Steiger a copy of the journal.

When the subject of "Deer People" is introduced, those who know the term usually think of the Native Creation myths and legends. Or perhaps the gentle Deer Woman who assists Native maidens. But there seems to be something different, something darker that makes it's way into some peoples' lives. Chance encounters that are frightening. An encounter with a predator.
Almost every Native group has their stories of a Deer People associated with the stars and maidens. Mostly they are creation myths. Creation of a species, creation of new life and they may talk of the stars involved. Either going into the heavens, or a star coming down. There is a Deer Woman that helps young Native women either find a mate, or have a child. And there is a slightly darker version of one who punishes men who stray from their women. And a darker version of a Deer Man who frightens hunters with screams and running past them. This last one could be related to what is being reported.
I first ran across some stories in a book I was reading. And as I looked further, I found people talking of their experiences anonymously on blog sites. Discovering even more accounts of strange encounters with strange "Deer", it became clear that this might not be just someone's imagination.
I explored other possible explanations which I will go into later. For now, let's take a look at some of the encounters.
Let's start close to my home with Ohio.

Okay, by now you are probably aware that I'm enjoying the return of the super awesome show The X-files. The current season (10) is rapidly coming to an end. But luckily for me, I missed almost all of the past seasons, mostly due to my work schedule at the time. Thanks to Netflix, I can now watch all of the past seasons of X-files.
So, I have started watching from season 1 and along the way there has been a couple episodes that I thought would be appealing to our Bigfoot/Dogman audience. All the episodes have been great but these two I want to talk about should be appealing to our Bigfoot folks. So here we go.
The X-file Season 1 episode 5
This episode is titled "The Jersey Devil" and the plotline is as follows:
"Mulder and Scully track a legendary creature that has roamed the New Jersey countryside for over 40 years."
But once you watch it, it's not really the Jersey Devil as we know it. Oh, the show does touch on the origins and legend of the Jersey Devil but during the episode it not the Jersey Devil. So, what is it you ask? It is more along the lines of feral humans, or what we call wild men. Once you watch it you should be able to related it somewhat to Sasquatch. How they hide, how they may forge for food in populated areas, how fast they are and how silent they can be. Definitely worth a watch.
The X-files Season 1 Episode 19
The title to this episode is "Shapes" and it should appeal to the Dogman/Werewolf/Shapeshifter crowd. I very much enjoyed this episode.
Here is the plotline:
"A creature, possibly from Native American lore, is suspected of killing a man, bringing Mulder and Scully to the Indian reservation where the attack occurred in order to uncover its identity."
There is a couple scenes where you see this creature running and it looks very much like a Bigfoot/Dogman. Then you throw in the shapeshiting element and it become more entertaining. I still wonder if "Dogman" is just the new term we are using for "werewolf".
So, there's you two very good episodes of the X-files from season one. If you have not watched them, I suggest you do. You can find them currently on Netfilx. It's a good way to kill a couple hours.
Thanks

I have heard and read of people calling Bigfoot a giant. I have heard and read many reports that described Bigfoot as being 10-12 feet tall. I also know of one report, I talked to the person myself, and he claimed that the Bigfoot he saw was 20 foot tall.
Bigfoot seems to always have ties to Native American culture. I recently was told about an unusual grave in my area. The small, almost hidden grave yard, is said to have about 10 or so graves in it. The odd thing is that one of the graves is extremely long and is said to contain a man 8 foot tall or more. The guy who told me this was taken there by his dad when he was a kid. His dad actually knew the giant man and stated he was part Indian. I know where this area is and have been there a many times but I was not looking for a grave yard. I plan on making a trip there soon and try to find the grave of the giant man. The head and foot stones are said to still be there.
Here is a very good documentary about Giants. It is well worth watching. Can we find clues in the film about Bigfoot?
So, I guess it is possible that Bigfoot has ties to giants from the past. Could Bigfoot be some kind of remaining strain of past giants or some kind of off shoot of the original giants?
There are many possibilities and theories to think about when we consider the origins of Bigfoot. It also appears that Bigfoot and Giants have ties to the Bible, could this be why there is a cover up of giant bones and Bigfoot?
Thanks

"Skull Cave (Mackinac Island)" by Notorious4life |
Skull Cave is primarily of interest for its historical associations. It is believed to have been used as an inhumation site (burial site) by Native Americans of the Straits of Mackinac area in the 18th century.
On June 2, 1763, Ojibwa warriors captured Fort Michilimackinac in a bloody surprise attack. The fort, located in what is now Mackinaw City, was just one of many British posts attacked as part of a larger campaign known as Pontiac's Uprising. One of the few British survivors at Michilimackinac, merchant Alexander Henry found himself captured in the aftermath of the attack. Fortunately, a local Ojibwa chief, Wawatam, intervened and took Henry into his home. To better protect him, Wawatam hid Henry on Mackinac Island while tension eased between the British and the local tribes. Taking shelter in a small cave, Henry slept soundly. When he awoke the next morning, he found the cave floor covered with human skulls and other bones. The local tribes used the cave to bury their dead.
Henry recalled his ordeal as follows:
"On going into the cave, of which the entrance was nearly ten feet wide, I found the further end to be rounded in its shape, like that of an oven, but with a further aperture, too small, however, to be explored. After thus looking around me, I broke small branches from the trees and spread them for a bed, then wrapped myself in my blanket and slept till day-break. On awaking, I felt myself incommoded by some object upon which I lay, and, removing it, found it to be a bone. This I supposed to be that of a deer, or some other animal, and what might very naturally be looked for in the place in which I was; but when daylight visited my chamber I discovered, with some feelings of horror, that I was lying on nothing less than a heap of human bones and skulls, which covered the floor!"
Skull Cave is contained within Mackinac Island State Park. It is located 0.4 miles (0.6 km) north of Fort Mackinac in the island's interior. It was designated as a Michigan Historic Site on January 12, 1959, and granted state historical marker #L0004.
