Another Historical Track Casting From Bluff Creek

Here is another historical track and casting from Bluff Creek. I'm sharing these older reports to show that there was a history of bigfoot tracks in the area long before Roger Patterson filmed his famous "Patty" footage in 1967.

The casting below was originally cast back in 1960, by a world-famous big game hunter and bigfoot investigator.

Witness or Researcher?
 Witness or Researcher?

First, let me say that this post is in no way trying to lessen the importance of witnesses or researchers. Many time a witness becomes a researcher after a sighting. Researchers often depend on witnesses to get the newest reports and information. So with that said lets look at the definitions of the words.

WitnessA person who sees an event, typically a crime or accident, take place. In our case they see a Bigfoot.

Researcher A person who does a careful study of a given subject, field, or problem, undertaken to discover facts or principles.

Witnesses and researchers go hand in hand and if done correctly should compliment each other. They both in many ways depend on each other. A researchers provides an outlet for the witness to tell their story, and to talk to someone who will take their sighting seriously. Many times the witness is just relieved to finally get the story "off their chest". Sometimes, a witness may experience a wide range of emotions after a sighting. Emotions that may include fear, terror, anxiety, rattled, shocked, depression and many others are possible. Sometimes taking to someone who will take your sighting seriously and interact with you about it, will help relieve some of these emotions.

For the researchers who get to talk to witnesses or receives their report some other way, they get helpful information such as: location, size of the creature, color of creature, behavior of creature and more. This information can help establish patterns of behavior and gives the researcher a location to explore for more clues. (Always get permission from land owners.) While exploring a sighting area, the researcher may find clues to validate the witness sighting.

Sometimes, a researcher may never actually see a Bigfoot. That was the case for long time researcher Rene Dahinden. Dahinden had over 40 years of research and while he made many discoveries, such as tracks, and talked to numerous witnesses, he never actually saw the creature himself. He was convinced that the creature was real, and he may have never got to that point without talking to witnesses.

So, hopefully you can see the value of the witness and the researcher are both equally important and go hand in hand in most cases. Sometimes, a problem comes in when a witness claims to be a researcher. They never actually do any research themselves but relay other researchers work as their own. Sometimes even other researchers will pass off someone else research as their own. I have seen this happen and it has even happened to me. It is fairly rare but it does happen.

So, in closing I will say whether you are a witness or a researcher, you are important to the field of Bigfoot research.

Have a great day.

Thanks
~Tom~

This is going to be a really large post; please read my commentary at the bottom of the list. The bulk of this post comes from Bigfootfourms.com, and it was posted by a person who goes by Taylor. So a big thanks to them for it. I have also added some reports that were not on the list. Some of the links may not be good anymore, but that is out of my control. This is very good for archival purposes at the very least.

Bigfoot History - Rene Dahinden 1957 Radio Interview

Rene Dahinden and his wife were interviewed by Nyra Groves on March 21, 1957.
This interview sounds really scripted but is still interesting from a historical standpoint.

Here is the interview

A Look at Bigfoot Researcher Rene Dahinden
Rene Dahinden with track cast. I think this is the cripple foot cast.
I thought I'd take some time and look back at some of the people who made huge inroads for the Bigfoot community and select someone to write about.
Often times there is not much known about researchers who started researching 40+ years ago and at times they seem to have been forgotten by many.
So the first person I selected to write about is Rene Dahinden. I hope to maybe write about some of the other "old timers" at some point.

Rene Dahinden was born on August 22, 1930, and passed away on April 18, 2001.
Mr.Dahinden was born in the town of Weggis, Switzerland but moved to Canada in 1953, He lived there for the rest of his life but made many trips all around the world promoting bigfoot.
While living there he worked on a dairy farm in Alberta, Canada.
