This past Saturday we had the first every Pine Mountain Paracon. This event was hosted at the beautiful Pine Mountain State Resort Park. If you have never been to Pine Mountain, you own it to yourself to make the trip. It is such a beautiful area, with loads of hike trails, things to see and even a zipline. And the food is terrific.

The Paracon featured several presentations on various topics combined with some local musical talent in between presenters. What made this event stand out was that not only was it a free event, it was an all day event. The doors opened at 11am and we finished off downtown at the Bell Theater for a live ghost hunt. The Paracon lasted until 10 pm. I can tell you my legs and feet were wore out.

Have humans lost their intuition? Or is it trying to break through and send messages to us every day without our being aware? I was experiencing a lot of what’s referred to as earworms lately, and it was driving me a little crazy for a while. So much so that I had to start investigating.

Earworms. A very appropriate name for something that seems something like a little parasite inside our head. Like a creature that takes on a life of its own. But this is no creature, thankfully.

Yes, I know you all know what I’m talking about: That often irritating song that pops into your head, seemingly out of nowhere, and it just refuses to go away. You might wake up with it in your head in the morning, or maybe it just suddenly enters your conscious mind sometime during the day. But it doesn’t matter where it comes from. You just want it to go away. But it won’t...until it’s good and ready.

Musicians, being the artists that they are, have varying opinions on everything. But if you ask them how to tune their instruments, they’ll all tell you the same thing:  to tune the note middle A to a frequency of 440 hz, which has been the international standard since around 1939. Few very rarely question this. And I have wondered why. Who made this rule? And why are the musicians of the world; the rebels, the artists, the supposed nonconformists so stuck on it?

Well it seems the answer to this question may revolve around what some call the most ridiculous conspiracy theory ever. But I’m not so sure it’s that crazy, and I’ll tell you why. But the theory is that the new standard of 440 hz was set by Joseph Goebbels, propaganda leader of the Third Reich in Germany during the Nazi era. This is believed by conspiracy theorists to have been all part of a nefarious plan to distort the emotional and physical well-being of the masses. Now, before you start laughing, consider these things.

We took a trip today to Cumberland Falls State Park, While there I ran into Robert Mullinax.
Robert is a Native American Flutist and artist. I took this chance to conduct an interview with Robert. The sound is a bit low and you can hear the roar of the Cumberland Falls in the background but over all the interview turned out good. We talk a little about Native Americans and sasquatch at the end of the video.
