A 9 meters long creatures has washed up on the beach in New Zealand. The unknown beast is said to have jagged teeth and large flippers. Many beach goers said it looked "pre-historic".
Some are convinced it is a killer whale while others are just not sure about the beast.
The creature is roughly 30 foot long and appears to have been attacked by a shark or something.
A video has been made asking for help in identifying the monster.

ReplyDeleteIt was a killer whale. Anton van Helden, expert on marine mammals (probably the Collection Manager of Marine Mammals at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa), identified it using the fins which pointed to an Orca. Their teeth and those from the false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens) look very similiar without further analysis so this was probably the reason why he used the fin for identification. The flippers of P. crassidens are "narrow, short and pointed" while those of O. orca are rounded. This is the case in one of the pictures of this carcass.
