The Loveland Frog

The Loveland Frog [or Loveland Lizard] is one of those creatures that hovers between cryptid and urban legend. And what I thought would be an easy post turned more complicated than I thought.

You see, there are not only the multiple alleged sightings of this creature, but there are multiple versions of the multiple alleged sightings. But let's see if I can make some sense of it all.

The Loveland Frog is listed as one of the cryptids that the state of Ohio is known for. That and the Ohio Grassman [which is a regional name for bigfoot and not one that the rest of the state necessarily uses] and the Minerva Monster [which is another regional name for bigfoot]. Cedar Bog Monster [bigfoot]. Orange Eyes [either bigfoot or an alien]. We share Mothman with West Virginia, who is better known for the creature. We have dogman and the Crosswick Monster [humanoid snake]. And we have the Charles Mills Lake Monster and our own Lake Erie Monster, Bessie.

But back to the Loveland Frog.

Ancient Evidence For The Reptilians?
Making Sense of Creatures That Shouldn’t Exist, But Might
By Dorraine Fisher

Are “monsters” just products of the human psyche? Figments of active imaginations? Tools for parents to make children stay safe?

These have been the conventional beliefs for so long. They’ve been taught in all our learning institutions, and they’re widely accepted theories by mainstream science. But are they really true? Or could there be more to the story?

I think it’s time for us to evolve...and ask some deeper questions of our world. And we need to ask those questions no matter how silly they sound to other people. Because there’s a bigger danger in not asking them. If we don’t ask them, we may never know the REAL truth.

The Loveland Ohio frogman Legend

In Loveland Ohio there is tales of people seeing what is called frogmen. Sometimes the bipedal amphibians are also referred to as the Loveland Lizard but from the description, it sounds more like frogs. And beside that, I think we already have many "lizard man" sightings, and it way past time that frogmen got some press.

The Loveland Frog  is a legendary humanoid frog described as standing roughly 4 feet tall, allegedly spotted in Loveland, Ohio. A local man reported seeing three frog like men at the side of the road in 1955. The sighting happened along a road that runs beside the Little Miami River in neighboring Clermont county. The witness reportedly pulled his car over and watched the frogmen for about 3 minutes.

A police officer claimed to have seen a similar creature on a bridge in the city in 1972. The officer was driving slow due to icy road conditions when he saw what he thought was a dog on the side of the road. All at once the creature ran in front of his car, the officer slammed on the brakes, which caused him to spin out. When the car spin stopped the creature was in full view. The creature stood up and crossed over a guardrail. Two week later another officer, Mark Matthew, also seen and described the same creature. The odd frogmen creatures were also seen by a farmer.

Of course, many people just want to dismiss reports like this and say there is nothing to them. It's much the same way they do with bigfoot and UFO sightings. But I think reports of this nature should not be so easily dismissed. First, we have multiple frogmen seen by a local man. Then, 17 years later we have 2 police officers spot the same thing. It just seems to me, that if the first sighting in 1955, was nothing more than a made up story, then it would have been totally forgot. So, it makes it seem less likely that the police officers were just continuing to hand down a tall tale. Plus, we normally trust the word of policemen, after all they are trained to observe details.

This legend reminds me of an old movie starring the late Roddy Piper. It was called Hell comes to Frogtown. In the movie Sam Hell (Piper) is a prisoner of the female faction who took over the US after nuclear war. Mutants thrive in the wasteland while humans face possible extinction due to infertility. Bomb strapped to his crotch, Hell is forced to rescue a group of fertile women from a harem ran by an evil mutant gang. The evil mutant gang, just so happen to look like frogman. While the movie is not the greatest thing in the world , it is a pretty fun watch, in my opinion.

When, it comes to the Loveland frogmen, there has not been any real video recordings of them, as far as I know. But there has been one attempted hoax video, which I will share with you.

Now, I wonder if there has been any more sightings of these 3-4 foot tall, webbed hand, frogmen. It would appear it has been roughly 40 years since a reported Loveland frogman sighting. If anyone has heard of a more recent sighting, or have seen one yourself, then please let us know.
