A few days ago I got a message from a long-time Facebook friend, who I will just call John, who wanted to share a sighting that happened when he was just a youth. Sometimes events happen as we get older that trigger a memory from our youth. That is what happened with the report. 

Here is the report.

"Hello, Thomas. One of the boys I grew up with is in the hospital having a hard time and that got me thinking. 

Back when we were kids he and I were up on the hill in front of our house. I was not too far and as a young child I never knew anything about strange creatures or otherwise and I doubt he had ever heard anything either. 

But we were on the hillside close to a large red oak that had recently died out and this Huge black hairy ape-looking thing stepped out from behind that big red oak. It screamed at the top of its lungs at us and we turned tail and ran down that step hillside all the way to the bottom to the road before looking back.  He (my friend) was up a few months ago and I wasn’t sure if it was him or his brother with me that day.  So I asked him about it and he told me it was him and he remembered it but didn’t have any idea what it was. 

That’s another one that happened to me, not 500 feet from the last one in 2005 with another person, but we were both young kids back then."

TM: Do you know about what year that was?

 

"I can only guess it might have been 1973 to 1976. I would think it was before 77, as I had a bad accident that year and was out of commission. I know I wasn’t in high school yet.

This event in the 70s happened in Floyd County  Kentucky."
