Strange Howls Recorded in Kentucky | What is it?
I got an email about a week or so ago about some strange howls around a couple's property. After emailing the couple, I was sent 3 clips of these strange howls.
I also asked them for some more details about the area and the howls.
Here is what the witnesses told me about the property and the howls. I have also included a short video of the howls.
-Witness Report -
We bought an 1897 school house in Reedville, KY 4 years ago to remodel into a house. Reedville is in between Hitchins and Willard near Grayson. We have been hearing these sounds for 3 years off and on and have started researching ourselves a little bit as to what they could be.
My husband and I definitely believe in the grass man/Bigfoot. We are familiar with plenty of different sounds from animals and this is totally different from anything we've heard before. We did look up the 1994 Hocking County, OH Bigfoot video on YouTube and we believe it sounds just like it.
Our dogs and surrounding dogs bark like crazy when they hear it hollering. We have Grayson Lake a few miles from us with nothing but woods that cannot be hunted on so we think it may be in that area. Also, sometimes, we will hear what sounds like them yelling back and forth at each other. We also have heard grunting and trees snapping. We have one neighbor who said her dad saw it back in the 80's, he called it the creek walker and it was nearly 9 feet tall with red glowing eyes but this is all we've heard so far from anyone.
When we hear: summer and fall sometimes during the day, mostly starts at 10 pm. We are hearing it closer to us and more often lately. We finally got it recorded off our phone last night. We do not have any real equipment to record. (Oct.22nd)
- End Witness Report -
Here is the short video of the howls - Can you identify them or have you heard something similar?
First, thanks to D & B for sending in the report and clips. I personally can not identify just what is making the sounds but it sure seems pretty loud.
If you have heard this sound in the Grayson area or can identify it, then please contact us.
Thanks

The "bellow" or "bugle" I hear on the recording could be construed as an artificial, manmade sound. BUT, because Thomas Marcum is a lifelong eastern Kentuckian, and because Thomas has kindly sunken me into eastern Kentucky Appalachia with him for bigfooting, and because I see that Reedville, KY is in the Appalachian foothills, then I conclude the following: No mammal or bird in eastern North America is capable of making such a sound. Except one: A tall, massive, hairy biped that you cannot find a picture of in the Field Guide to the Mammals of North America.
