Payson Canyon Bigfoot
In the spring of 2016, The Paranormal Review released a video from an anonymous witness of an alleged bigfoot encounter the previous year.
Here is the original video.
The witness was recording a waterfall in the Payson Canyon area in Utah when he heard a couple branches crack. He swung his camera up and caught sight of a bipedal figure walking through the woods. He steps around trying to keep the figure centered in the camera, but trees and the steep slope helped prevent any clearer view, so there is once again not much detail shown. The figure was said to be about 200 yards away.

Breakdown by The Paranormal Review:
There were some who felt the video could be of an actual bigfoot; some who felt not enough detail to determine; and, of course, the deniers.
Some of the more interesting denials included that it had to be a hoax because the dude was filming a stream. Sure, because there are no nature lover's around who film streams and waterfalls.
Then there was the "not tall enough". Yep. All bigfoot are born at 7 1/2 foot tall, over 350 lbs. OUCH!
"Too close to civilization". Of course. No self-respecting bigfoot would EVER be found near people.
And I had to admire the logic of the person who said that the video was a hoax because it looked too much like the Patterson Film and that we all know the Patterson Film was hoaxed. Hmmm, guess I missed that news bulletin.
Obviously, it was a hoax because the figure didn't move with "ease" and "stealth". I don't know. Didn't look too bad going up that incline."Human gait". Okay.
"Wearing shoes." "Pant line".
Some of the usual: "Bear", "No cone head", "Costume", "Mask".
And I love that someone said it was fake because it didn't throw rocks at the witness.
Perhaps the most disturbing thing are those who are saying it is real and then telling us that there are more than one in the footage. One avid reviewer claimed no fewer than 8 were captured on film.
As for my opinion : Not enough there to make a call. Inconclusive.

That's not 200 yards away (600 feet). It's not even 200 feet away (66.6 Yards or roughly the distance between three telephone poles). Estimating distance on the ground using eye, pacing and timing was part of my profession (25 year long career) in the Army as an Infantry Officer, and I was very good at land navigation and orienteering day or night. That's a hundred feet at best... My pace is roughly 30 inches, or 2.5 feet. So at a hundred feet a six foot tall man would appear to be about the width of my thumbnail. If you notice the focal plane never changes in the shot on the camera once the cameraman initially adjusts and finds the subject... at least not until the very end where the subject stoops over and walks out of view. The shooter pans all the way back for the widest frame and never focuses or zooms in on the subject changing the perspective until the subject is gone. Remember you are looking at a two dimensional flat representation of a three dimensional subject, and at that distance my thumb nail doesn't completely cover the subject, leaving me to think that it's taller than six-and-a-half-feet. Could it be a Juvenile Sasquatch... sure. Could it be a 6.5' man in a costume... sure. We may never know. I'll give the guy the benefit of a doubt, but, I'm also thinking we probably need to watch for other videos produced and released by this cameraman because he's either going to want to try and prove his case if indeed it's real, or if it is a hoax he's going to want to do it again.
ReplyDeleteNo idea what the white area is, and the big question to me is if the camera person can and did zoom in on a stick in a river, why then did the person not zoom in on a bigfoot in the distance.
