Schrodinger's cat
So what does quantum physics have to do with sasquatch? In the case of this thought experiment, perhaps quite a bit.
First a little info for those who aren't familiar with quantum physics, or who has never watched that Big Bang Theory episode. [Or a later one where Penny is explaining it to one of her "dimmer" dates].
The Austrian physicist Erwin Schrodinger devised a hypothesis as follows : A cat is put in a box along with a vial containing cyanide along with a mechanism designed to open that vial at some time in the unknown future. The actual time this will happen cannot be calculated. At some point in time the cyanide gas will be released and the cat will die.
Before anyone gets upset, this was presented as a HYPOTHESIS -- a THOUGHT experiment. It was never actually done. A "what if" exercise.
So, if the box is closed, you cannot see the condition of the cat. You have no way of "measurement", of checking the cat to determine it's condition. So, in essence, the cat is both dead or is alive, depending on your viewpoint.
Which also leads us to look at Niels Bohr's theory : That we can't know if a thing exists until we see it. We don't know if the cat is alive or dead because we can't see it.
And let's take his theory one step further. If a scientist accepting Bohr's theory crossed over to Schrodinger's, he isn't as much concerned with whether the cat is alive or dead, but more with since he can't see it, is there even a cat inside the box?
And so to the concept of sasquatch or bigfoot and a scientist's mind.

This is also true of a skeptical non-believer.
If they can't put their eyes on it, touch it, smell it, hear it, it cannot exist.
Foot print casts are not enough to convince them. They will list all the ways that a footprint can be hoaxed.
Hairs will not do it. You will be told it is horse hair. Or it is from a dog, a sheep, a goat, a cow, or any other animal that might be wandering the area.
DNA? Oh what a tangled web. If you can get a lab to process it, you will be told that it is either human, contaminated, or unknown. Unknown because they will tell you they have nothing in their data files that matches it, so it is unknown.
Photographs? If they are blurry, you are mistaken. It is shadows, leaves, trees, bushes, a bear, a deer, a stump, a burned out tree, clumps of grass, etc. If you have a clear photo, it is fake, it is a costume, it is CGI, and you are a hoaxer.
Videos suffer the same accusations as photos. With the additional why didn't you hold the camera steadier, why did you stop filming, why didn't you get closer, why is the camera shaky, why is your footage out of focus. And if you have a nice clear segment of film, you have arranged for someone in a suit to stride past your camera.
We all have our theories on what or who sasquatch and bigfoot are. Our own opinions. We can only base them on our own research and our own experiences and encounters.
Skeptical non-believer's can never be convinced of something that they cannot see. To them, the cat is dead.
As for me, I know there is a cat - and the cat is alive.
