Today I wanted to continue to look back at some of the historic events and findings from the bigfoot world. The subject today is the 1982 Grays Harbor bigfoot footprints and castings. This is one of the best documented bigfoot track findings that you will come across. It was well documented by the Gray's Harbor Sheriff's Dept.

There were numerous tracks found in four separate areas. Those areas were:  Abbott Hill, Worman's Bar, Elma Gate and Porter Creek.

Abbott Hill Tracks:
(4-22-82)
This area is in the eastern part of Grays Harbor county. There was a report made about large tracks. The policeman was escorted to the area with the tracks. The tracks were described the following way: " footprints with human features in an area along the base of a fire trail". According to the report the tracks were approximately 46" apart and measured 15 1/2" long by 6 3/4" wide. Photographs were taken and a casting made of the left foot. But that is not all. There was also a hair that was removed that was between the second and third toes. That hair was sent to the Institute of Cryptozoology, in Tucson, Arizona, but I do not know the results or if it were ever reported.

Worman's Bar:
(4-22-82)Roughly at the same time there were more tracks found 7 miles west of Abbott Hill. They were found along the Satsop River, at a place call Worman's Bar. During the investigation it was discovered that there were 2 sets of tracks. What is interesting about these tracks is that they both started from under the water of the river and then went onto the bank. The largest was 17" long by 7 1/2" wide and the smallest was 15 1/2" long by 6" wide. The tracks were photographed but later when they returned to cast them, they found only portions of the tracks. The site seers had filled the area with foot tracks making them hard to find.

Elma Gate:
(4-27-82)
Officer Jim Young of the Oakville police dept. reported that more tracks had been found at Elma Gate. The tracks were discovered along the Chehalis River in an area known as "Elma Gate boat launch." Once again officers Dennis Heryford and Veryl Hutchinson went to the area to investigate. The tracks were photographed and measured. The measurement was 15" long by 6 1/4" wide and the trackline was approximately one mile.

Porter Creek:
(5-23-82)
A pastor of a local church reports and request an investigation of some large foot tracks. Once taken to the area of the tracks they observed four tracks. They were photographed, measured and two casting were made. Other evidence was found in the area. Numerous branches were broken from 8 feet to approx. 11 feet in the trees. One tree had scratch marks indicating five fingers. That portion of tree was taken down and stored as evidence. After more investigation, more tracks were found on the other side of the creek. The tracks were followed for about 1 and a half miles.

Final Thoughts:
The final thought on all of these tracks were that no 2 tracks were the same in measurement. That the creatures that made them were in excess of 600 pound.

List of investigators from the police dept.
Heryford, Dennis E. (Deputy)
Behm, Michael (Deputy)
Hutchinson, Veryl D. (Sargent)
Whiteman, Ronald W. (Sargent)

Evidence collected:
8 plaster casts
24 B&W 35 mm Kodak photos
36 Kodachrome 35 mm color slides of scenes
12 color photos, 35 mm of scene

I actually own a replica, made from the original casting, of the left foot. This is one of the creditable track discoveries that we have on record. We have several police officers involved and a pastor. We have very detailed documentation of each area.

You can actually still buy the tracks on Amazon (Click here). They are sold by Skulls Unlimited International. You can buy the pair of just one. It should also be noted that most of these castings are privately owned and are unavailable to the public.

If you would like to read even more about these events you can do so on the BFRO's website or just

This is another one of them historic findings that is often overlooked or has been all but forgotten. If you already knew all of this information, remember that interest in bigfoot is growing and new people are coming into the community all the time. They need to know about these well documented events.

Also, the manner in which these were documented should be a good teaching tool for all of us who research or the witness who discovers tracks. It is very important to photograph, measure and document the tracks.

Thanks
Tom

  1. What is the "Institute of Cryptozoology, in Tucson, Arizona"? There is the "International Society of Cryptozoology", in Tucson, but it wasn't founded until 1982.

  2. I think that is one in the same. But If I remember correctly it closed down in like 1998 or so

  3. I just thought I'd drop by here & weigh in on my life changing information regarding Sasquatch/Bigfoot... given the initial evidence I observed I assure anyone, everyone who may have read or heard of the Grays Harbor investigation at several different sites decades ago including the Abbot Hill site & more. "Prove to me that Sasquatch/Bigfoot/Gigantopithicus doesn't exist". The "Worman's Bar" cast(s) & more, the evidence collected (hair, dried saliva on fern heads, footprints, tree scrapings, broken branches, roots & so much more. I've been away from the "search for Sasquatch" for several years now. I entered that "investigation" quite awhile ago. I treated the incidents, reports, evidence, etc. much like I would for any "criminal" investigation I conducted over the years. I'm a fellow who loves to wander the Pacific Northwest forests. My summation? After all of the information gleaned over those years, nay-saying folks will have to prove to me that Sasquatch, Bigfoot doesn't exist. Obviously, I'm not getting any younger and I'm certainly not getting any wiser... just ask my wife. Anyway, I saw this "cryptocrew" post and thought I'd wade in. I apologize for the intrusion. I normally won't wade into these conversations anymore. Anyway, keep an open mind, trust & protect your evidence, forward your evidence to credible labs, researchers & let's get a solid answer. I'm already bumping up against some personal challenges that happen when folks get older so, I'm looking forward to the next several years & eventually a final move "on to the next level"... whatever that may be. The good Lord's jury is still out on that "whatever that may be" comment. I wrote too much. I apologize for taking up precious space on here but, I'm not nearly as young as I used to be. I finally admitted it oh, & life brutally reminded me that I'm not the young pup I used to be. We all eventually travel that path. I'm good to go with it... quite frankly, I'm somewhat curious about what's on the other side. Anyway, for those who know me drop me a line if you want. For those who don't know me I apologize for tramping all over your site here but, this will most likely be my last post on the whole Sasquatch discussion. I'm comfortable knowing what I know and what I don't know (though I'd love to know more). As I've said over the past several decades after my track, hair, saliva discoveries... Ya' have to prove to me they don't exist. I've never seen a Sasquatch in my lifetime but, I've collected information, evidence, photos, etc. of Sasquatch related information/evidence/incidents that tends to suggest they do exist. In closing, I'm a believer... simply re: the physical & testimonial evidence, at least. Stay safe, enjoy life, keep your minds open & live a long, happy life!

    Follow the facts, the evidence.
