|Did a real Mermaid wash up on the beach?|
First the story, back in October of this year there was a pretty good buzz about a possible real mermaid washing up on a beach. That beach was, reportedly, Great Yarmouth in Norfolk England.
The witness described a strange decaying corpse that looked very much like a mermaid. The witness, Paul Jones, posted the video on youtube. It showed a human looking figure with a large human looking skull and arms but with a fish tail.
Since then the video has become unavailable due to the youtube account being terminated. The thought at the time was that the tide had washed this dead mermaid up on the beach. It had many people speculating about this being a real mermaid.
Over the years, there have been several mermaid videos surface but these were all pretty much proven to be nothing more that hoaxes. There are numerous sighting reports of mermaids. Many of which date back in the 1400 and 1800's. So it only stands to reason that some people have a genuine interest in the subject.
As for the above picture and the now terminated video, it appears to be nothing more that another hoax. It seems that Paul Jones is a specialist in sculpture and models. It is my understanding that in the description on the now gone video, there was reference to that fact. There is even a facebook page called DIY Horror and Halloween Props that Jones is associated with, according to the story. While glancing at the mentioned facebook page, I did not see the mermaid model but there are some other cool items. I guess in the end this was Mr. Jones's work, which was pretty good.
I did some more searching and was able to fine another video of the figure. It was listed under Steve Jones. Looks like he used a black garbage bag for the tail.
Here is that video.
So, our quest for proof of mermaids will have to wait.....for now
