Today I was sent a private message from a friend. He had captured some strange sounds in the woods near his home. The recording was at night, he had stepped out for a cigarette when he heard these strange sounds. He wanted my opinion of what I thought it was. I don't have permission to share his audio but it got me to thinking about the many strange sounds we hear in the woods.
There are many strange sounds that can happen in the forest. Even if you are a seasoned outdoors person, some of these sounds may make you wonder just what in the world is producing the noise.
Lets looks at some possible sources for these odd sounds.
