I recently saw a black panther here in my area of Southeast Kentucky and I made a few remarks about it on my facebook page. This caught the attention of a lot of people who have seen similar large cats. The thing is, in may of these area we are told there are no big cats. But yet people continue to see them and report them.

Here is one such report, that was recently submitted to me.

Name: Wyatt ******

Email Address: On file

State: Delaware

County: Sussex

Date of Sighting: July 25, 2010

Time of Day:
10:00 PM

Nearest Town:
Rehoboth Beach

Length of Sighting: 2:00 minutes

How many Witnesses: 5

Any Photos/Videos:
No

Describe sighting in detail:

Me, my sister, and some other people we met while we were camping were walking on the beach late at night. When we started noticing people's stuff still laying on the beach, like a book and a boogie board. This was very odd since nobody else seemed to be on the beach but us, and that is when we saw the cat. It was running incredibly fast and it was way to big to be a normal cat. The tail was also way to long, and it looked like a panther.
One of the people we were with started running after it but it escaped. We were all in shock, me and my sister were terrified. In addition we came back to tell everyone else but they did not seem to care, so we told a ranger and they never did find the cat. It was not until last year I realized it was a Phantom Cat.

Thanks for the report, Wyatt.

So, just what was this large cat? It remains unclear but it would seem that if it was just a normal house cat, that one of the five witnesses could have been able to identify it as such.

Cats of all sizes are incredibly quiet and normally don't make a lot of sound. It appears these large cats are for the most part, able to go undetected by humans. It is chance sightings, like this one, that gives us a pause and a time to think about what might be lurking in our communities.

Thanks

The reports of the phantom cats, or black panther, or Appalachian black panther seems to be always in dispute. But here in Kentucky, or more so, the Appalachian area in general, there have been numerous reports of the rare cat. There have even been a few trail camera photos offered up as proof. But still most officials say they are not around here.

Well, the mystery cat is not exclusive to just my area. I recently got a report from our friend Jack Tessier of A.C.R.O., which is based in Australia. Jack has found tracks that may very well be that of the large phantom cat.

Here is the report.

Hi guys, I came across an interesting footprint of what I strongly believe is from a Panther in Wyee,New South Wales,Australia as some people call the Phantom Cats because they aren't normal to be sighted in Australia.

In Australia many people report these Panthers or as they are otherwise called Phantom Cats. Some even call them Alien Big Cats.I collect several of footprints and as you may see, in the photos below, with this comparable photo of how similar it is to a Feline.

Casting of the possible cat track.
