Tomorrow’s The End Of The World!
Are We Shaking Yet?
By TCC Team Member Dorraine Fisher
Is the End Here?

Well, I may have to eat my words, but if I do, everyone will be too busy to see it. According to Mayan prophecy, the world ends tomorrow, December 21, 2012.  If you’re a believer in this prediction, and as the time is drawing nearer, are you more fearful, or less?  I’m still not worried, and I’ll gladly tell you why.
At the beginning of this year, scientists said there would be more solar flare activity all this year which could cause all kinds of technical problems. And it has, but nothing of an apocalyptic magnitude. As you can see, it’s December, and no universal disasters have shown signs of beginning. It’s Thursday, the 20th and the earth’s platelets are shifting at about their normal rate. There are no signs of anything changing so dramatically as to bring on the end of the world. But you might tell me it won’t start until December 21, and you may be right. Maybe on Friday at precisely 12 AM the sky will become very dark, and the earth will open up and swallow us all whole. If it does, I’ll admit I’m wrong...if I’m still here, that is.
But enough with the scientific arguments. If you believe the world’s going to end, there’s nothing I can say that will persuade you otherwise. Not even common sense.
The Mayan calendar was designed in increments of 400 years each. The last increment which just so happens to end in 2012. How far do you suppose they could they have kept going with the calendar when they created it? Going on forever would mean the creator of the calendar could never be allowed to die. Or someone else would have to take over writing it, and another, and another, forever.  But Mayan civilization fell, and all their activities ceased. Including the design of their calendar. The calendar simply had to end somewhere.  It’s actually amazing in itself that they managed to keep it going all the way up to 2012 at all.
And what time will this start exactly? While at 12 AM in my time zone, to the west of me and across the ocean, it will be 12 PM... on the night before...still the 20th of December.  So if this prophecy date is literally set in stone, then how does that work? Is it going to just explode all at once like that date was a lie, or is it going to progress by time zone methodically around the entire planet?
Does this seem even a little ridiculous yet? I hope so.
But I’m sad to say that suicide rates are up around the world and anxiety levels are high in young people who have not lived long enough to know how this goes. They’re just getting started with their lives. And it’s easy for them to think that it could all come crashing down any day. And their impressionable minds are wide open to all kinds of ideas, bad and good.
But those of us who are older and have seen countless end-of-the-world predictions over the years, either yawn at the mention of it, or take it somewhat seriously, and then think “Oh well! If it does happen, there’s nothing I can do about it.”  We might stockpile a little extra food and water, as anyone should for emergencies, but we go on living our lives.
Because we’ve watched it happen over and over again, year after year. One prediction after another that never came true. And there are plenty of things to worry about in our busy lives without worrying about the earth giving way under our feet.
If it does happen, we’ll all be in the same boat. And the only thing we can really hope for is that it happens quickly and painlessly. But I’m still betting that the only thing that will be shaking much on earth on Friday are the hundreds of thousands of believers that truly think that is our last day on the planet.
Me, I’m taking it one day at a time, fully expecting to get up Saturday morning and cook breakfast as usual. I’ve already bought my groceries and made weekend plans.  Maybe, just maybe that morning I’ll wipe a tiny bead of sweat off my brow and sigh with relief that I made it through yet another one. But I’ll be be doing that while I’m eating and staring out the window at yet another sunrise. *******DF

double sun
What’s Up With The Strange Lights In The Sky?
By Dorraine Fisher
There have been increased reports lately about some strange lights in the sky. One TCC member photographed a diamond-shaped light in the daylight sky just last week. And a supposed double sun at sunrise was reported in Oregon at about the same time. And there have been many others.
UFO sighting reports have increased this year, and with the Mayan 2012 prophecy looming over the year, many people are watching the universe a bit more carefully these days, perhaps trying to discern if this year and all its strange phenomena are really any different than years past.
And are these strange lights really UFO’s, or is there a good explanation?
To gather some insight,  I consulted my old friend Phil Douglas, an amateur astronomer who’s been studying the skies for most of his adult life.  I use the word amateur reluctantly as Phil has written many articles on the subject and has as much knowledge as any scientist in the field.  I’ve spent more than a few evenings with him and his wife and his telescope viewing the night sky over a few drinks and conversation.
When asked about the reported double sun, that was said to look like another sun that seemed to rise just before the actual sun, he said this:

“It most likely is the shifted image of the sun itself.  Our dense atmosphere bends (refracts) the light of the sun near the horizon the same angular diameter as the sun itself. That means that the sun we see, when it touches the horizon at sunset, is actually already below the horizon.  It could be that is what is happening (in reverse) at dawn.”

And here’s what he said about TCC member Jason Morse’s light in the sky:

“The object appears to be what is called a "sun dog" or parhelion.  It is caused by sunlight being refracted through ice suspended in the upper atmosphere.  If the ice/water molecules are at the proper altitude a circular rainbow appears in the sky around the sun.  Pilots that are high enough can see the entire rainbow and sometimes the double circular rainbow.  The sun dog (brilliant spot) is on the same level (or elevation above the horizon) as the sun.  Usually, if conditions are right there will be another sun dog opposite the first one (on the other side of the sun).  We actually get a lot of these in the Midwest in the late afternoon, usually.  They can look like "unidentified flying objects".

Other experts may have other opinions, but both incidents are common and have happened many times throughout history.**********

Should We Be Worried About The Mayan 2012 Prophecy?
By Dorraine Fisher

“There’s no fate but what we make for ourselves,” said the character of young John Conner in the science fiction thriller Terminator 2 as advanced machines plotted to destroy the entire human race.

As we enter mid-year 2012, there’s definitely a strange energy in the air. At times it feels like something’s going on that hasn’t happened before in history. Increased UFO sightings, strange astronomical activity, freakish sounds that seem to be coming from underground, etc.  We’ve all heard the media hype about the Mayan 2012 prophecy of the end of the world. But is there any real validity to it?
If you’ve lived a few years like I have, you’ve heard numerous end-of-the-world predictions in your lifetime. And we’re all still here.  None of them came true, and why is that? Because we don’t have the power to make such  predictions.  We don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
And most likely, when the world does come to an end, chances are, none of us will be here, and it will be a huge surprise that no one would’ve have been able to predict. Life is a mystery always, and we’re all mere humans after all. There have been many end-of-the-world scenarios throughout history. This is just one more.
And as far as the Mayans are concerned, if you know anything about ancient cultures, you know that an ending in those cultures very often means a new beginning. The death card in a tarot deck doesn’t actually represent death, it represents great change in one’s life. Death or destruction in ancient belief often refers to rebirth like Aquarian age believers that point to a coming age of enlightenment and understanding in this new millennium. A new beginning for the human race.
Others theorize our solar system will move through the galactic plane this year which causes increased cosmic radiation. This could cause some difficult problems for us, but not the end of the world.
But let me tell you the most disturbing thing surrounding the energy of this year.
Quantum physics teaches us that nothing is solid. Everything is made up of energy. All things we  consider to be solids, liquids, gasses, flesh, rock, soil, everything, are all just energy that exists at different levels of vibration.   But the most interesting thing about quantum physics is that it’s attempting to learn why particles behave differently when humans enter the equation.
Scientists placed photons, those little particles of light that everything is made of, into a glass tube. At first the particles behaved chaotically like they had no structure. But when human DNA was added to the tube, the photons behaved differently. They became ordered. Something about the human DNA  being added to the tube made them suddenly act in a more positive way.
What does this have to do with 2012?
Energy is everything. The feeling surrounding this strange year is a form of energy. The power it seems to have over people is also energy.  And energy can’t be destroyed, but it CAN be changed. And we humans have the power to change it, but only if we’re aware of that power.  We all do this on a regular basis if we attempt to change our mood or if we say a prayer for someone. It’s all about directing positive energy to the source.
The thing I worry most about in this imagined last year on the planet is the power that’s given to this idea of the end of the world by us. Because what we fear the most is what we create for ourselves. Because when we fear something, we’re actually manifesting negative energy and creating a negative atmosphere for ourselves. We’re feeding what we don’t want. So if what we believe personally comes to fruition like it often does, then imagine the power of negative energy created by billions of people if they fear the same fate so much and believe it so profoundly.
We write the playbook as we go. If we believe with every thread of our existence that something catastrophic will happen, then the odds are much greater that it will happen as we make a stronger effort to feed our own imaginations with negativity.   If human DNA, the stuff we’re made of,  has so much power to make photons behave in a positive way, and photons make up everything on earth, then that means we have the power to change everything around us for the better.
And just think, two hundred years ago who would’ve imagined we’d  be communicating with little phones to others all the way around the world, and receiving streams of data via computers and internet seemingly like magic?
The future is definitely not set. There IS no fate but what we make for ourselves. No one can predict tomorrow. There are too many variables.
So is a positive attitude the key to making this whole prediction go away? No one really knows, but, in light of the knowledge we have,  it certainly can’t hurt.
We’re all more powerful than we ever imagined.  We just need to believe it. ***********
