The Survivorman Episodes: What Did Les Stroud REALLY Think of Todd Standing?
When Les Stroud teamed up with Todd Standing for two episodes of Survivorman: Bigfoot, the Bigfoot world lit up. It was one of the rare times a mainstream survival expert worked directly with a controversial figure.
The episodes raised a lot of questions that people still debate today:
What Viewers Point Out
Stroud seemed genuinely interested in the subject
He respected Standing’s passion but kept a cautious distance
He never confirmed Standing’s evidence as real
He focused more on the experience than the “proof”
His reactions were measured, but not convinced
He emphasized possibilities, not conclusions
What Critics Say
Standing controlled the locations
The “evidence” shown was never independently verified
Some scenes felt staged or overly dramatic
Stroud avoided endorsing Standing’s claims directly
What Supporters Say
Stroud wouldn’t waste time filming with someone he didn’t take seriously
The vocalizations and tree breaks were compelling
The remote locations added credibility
Stroud’s open‑minded approach gave Standing legitimacy
Les Stroud walked a careful line; curious, respectful, but never fully buying in.
What do YOU think those episodes revealed?
Did Stroud see something real… or just play along for the show?
Thanks

Stroud saw something real. Les Stroud is as authentic as they come. He would not tell us lies or stoop below his consistently high character. After all, he has spent a helluva lot of time preparing a sasquatch movie that we will see in December 2026. I can't wait to see it. Some of us KNOW without a shred of doubt that sasquatch is real, despite all the weirdness associated with the phenomenon. Les Stroud is one of us who KNOWS.
