New York Baby Bigfoot Footage

"You see a few people in the foreground. They are talking around a campfire. And it's behind them that you see a large figure walking behind a tent and something hops off it's shoulder and starts climbing up into the tree like an ape." - Cliff Barackman.

This footage opened Season Two of Finding Bigfoot. And to this day, people who have viewed this film still disagree on just what we were watching.  The video was filmed May 23, 1997 at Lembo Lake Park in New York State by Doug Pridgen. The group was camped in an apple grove near a small lake. They were surrounded by farmland. It was dusk with a clear sky.

The segment was aired by Finding Bigfoot and the claims were made that you could see a figure climb onto the tree, swing between two trees a few times, then swing down to a branch where it is seen clearly against the sky.

The BFRO further claimed that the video ". . .  shows what appears to be an unclassified primate . . . "

Primatologists George Schaller and Esteban Sarmiento said the smaller figure was an ape : a) an exceptionally large gibbon; b) a year-old chimpanzee; or c) an unclassified ape species.

Measurements were said to have been taken of the tree and the conclusion was made that the swinging figure was approximately 3 to 4 foot tall.

So let's view that footage:

Many investigations, analyses, and breakdowns have been done on this film. And many different opinions on what was going on in the background of this campfire video.

Investigators determined that there where no known escapes or releases of primates in the area. They looked into if pets or privately owned animals were permitted in the park. The park stated that they had a "no pets, no animals" policy. It was further discovered that a small concert of 1 to 2 hundred people was scheduled for another part of the park and that park officials searched every car coming in for animals and glass bottles.

It is also illegal to possess a pet monkey, chimpanzee, orangutan, or gorilla in New York state. It is also argued that if one did illegally have possession of such an animal, would one knowingly take it into a public park and allow it to climb into the trees. Good question.

At the time this video was filmed, this campground was in a remote area near the Catskill Mountains. There were acres of apple orchards and a proliferation of berries, deer and other wildlife.

An area resident stated : "On this large property was a rabbit farm, an apple orchard, several ponds and a campground (which did not allow animals).

The daughter of another resident said that every morning while waiting for her ride, she would hear strange sounds.

One of the more talked about  breakdown artists is Bigfoot Tony. Let's take a look at his opinion.

In this video Tony states that the movement of the alleged baby bigfoot is actually caused by something in the foreground; probably an aerial flag on the vehicle blowing in the wind. He states that there are also leaves moving around on the bushes behind the vehicles.

And then we can add his "Update":

In this update, Tony further clarifies the alleged adult handing the baby up into the tree. This is just "motion blur". The pixels are moving and it is just "distortion".

ParaBreakdown does his thing and declares that the figure moving in the trees is nothing more than a squirrel. Hmm. Some squirrel. But then he backs down and reconsiders the video.

Okay. Not a squirrel after all. It's a leaf. But it was worth it to hear him say "I was wrong".

For those wondering if anyone other than the BFRO thought this was an authentic video of bigfoot, let us turn to this video:

Lost Ones Conservatory analysis

Their conclusion was that this is evidence of sasquatch. They stated that they believed the young one even seemed to stop at one point and look over at the campers before resuming its play in the tree.

Conclusions others have reached throughout the years on this footage ?

Some claim this was filmed in Africa, not New York state.

The movement is caused by something on a rope being manipulated. Or maybe it's on a string. [This presumes this was done as a hoax. And the people who did it forgot they did and just let the film sit around for years before 'discovering' it.]

It's a squirrel.

It's a plastic bag.

Not a sasquatch because we all know that sasquatch doesn't climb trees.

It's CGI.

Kite stuck in a tree.

Insect caught in a spider web, being attacked and then eaten (?) by the spider.

A human releasing an ape into the trees.

It's not a sasquatch. It's a "Little Person of the Forest".
