Recently there was a short video released by The Sun online magazine via Twitter and it has caused a little stir.
A driver found this odd looking creature crawling around inside his care. He took a short video and many have no idea what this alien looking thing is. It has been labeled as strange, alien like, unknown creature, demon and many other spooky names.
Before I tell you what it is, lets take a look at the short video.
Here is the video:
The creature is probably very odd and potentially scary to those who have not seen one before. But rest assured this little fellow has not come here to take over the world or enslave you.
This appears to be a Hag caterpillar Moth, also sometimes call a Monkey slug. These guys are rarely seen in this stage of development. They are covered with feathery, thick brown hairs. According to David L. Wagner, who experimented on himself, the hairs do not sting, contrary to popular belief. However, susceptibility can vary among humans and it may produce a reaction in some people. In other words, it is probably best to look and not touch these fury little guys.
The adults fly in midsummer. Here is a picture of an adult.
Not quite as scary or demonic looking.
Enjoy your day!
Thanks
