Back in 2013 there was a noticeable increase in Bigfoot sightings here in my little corner of Southeast Kentucky. It was one of the best years I have ever had in reports and in finding evidence. Now, I really don't know what caused this increase in sightings, but I'm guessing there were many factors that attributed to it.
In fact, I'm still stumbling across reports from back in 2013 that were not submitted to me. Today I want to share one such report that is very close to my location.
Let me be perfectly clear, this report was not submitted to me and I did not investigate it and I take no credit for it. But I do want to document it and place it on our map system for the simple fact is is very close to my home.
Here is a short overview, followed by the full report.
A teen boy was out on a ATV, on his family property, to set out and pick up some game cams. He encountered a Bigfoot. This sighting took place in Wallins, Ky, which is located in Harlan county and about 7-8 minutes from my home.
The report and follow up investigation was conducted by the BFRO.

OBSERVED: Went to get trail cams and see dark black figure close to 7 feet tall. Hair was like sloth fur. Very mobile. Looked wet. When seen subject ran.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: 6:30 dusk
ENVIRONMENT: Between mountain ridges. Near muddy bottom. Creek 1 mile away. Lots of vegetation.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Jack Smarr:
I spoke to witness on telephone and have the following remarks to add. Teenager was out on his property setting out trail cams. His family's property of 100 acres is behind his house and is full of game to include elk that have been transplanted to Kentucky and is prospering in his part of the state.
As he drove his four-wheeler to the top of a ridge that opened to a small valley on the opposite side, he noticed movement in the valley. Shutting off his four wheeler, he saw a seven foot ape-like biped from a distance of 30 feet running quickly away from him. He saw that it was grayish brown and had hair that draped from its arms, sides and legs as it sprinted away. Although he didn't see its face, he heard it crashing away and watched it bowl over a small tree, crushing it as it made its escape. He was left by himself , the air filled with a faint musky smell.
The witness did not see any tracks, but he later went back to the spot where he saw it and measured a nearby tree for reference. The creature’s height is reported as seven feet.
I believe that the teenager surprised the Squatch by topping suddenly over the hill on his four-wheeler, causing it to flee. He did a good job by cutting his engine when he noticed movement, and again later when returning to the scene to take measurements.

I really wish I had known about this when it happened, as it would have been great to have investigated the sighting and gathered evidence. 2013 was a very good year in this area for sightings. I'm hoping 2018 will have an uptick in reports of Bigfoot sightings.
Due to a lot of heavy rain some of our ATV traveled roads have got rough and some have even washed out. But road issues could be a good thing for people like me, as I will park and hike into the locations. I'm eager to get started and have been out a few times already but I have a very heavy schedule this year with filming making, events and computer work. But I'm sure I'll find time to get in the woods.
