I think the general consensus is that Ivan Marx's film The Legend of Bigfoot, is an okay nature film with some fake bigfoot stuff thrown in for good measure. But we still see many of the bigfoot from his film posted in various groups and websites. The majority of these seems to be just still frames from the film.
Today, I want to share a little bit more about Marx and possibly tie up some of the story for you about his film and hoaxes.
Ivan Marx was an animal tracker, woodsman, hunting guide, explorer, adventurer, accomplished nature photographer, and dedicated Bigfoot hunter. Born in 1921, he started hunting bigfoot somewhere in the 1950's. He was involved in the Bossburg, Washington Cripple Foot track finds in 1969 and later claimed to have shot actual footage of a crippled Sasquatch in 1970.Marx at one time or another worked with some very recognizable names from the bigfoot world. He worked with renowned Bigfoot researcher Peter Byrne. He also collaborated with famed physical anthropologist Grover Krantz. Later on Byrne was very critical of Marx.
Marx released 2 follow up films to The Legend of Bigfoot. The second film was titled In the Shadow of Bigfoot. It had a running time of roughly 48 minutes and was generally passed off as "more of the same" fakery. Most people still say that the bigfoot was Marx's wife, Peggy, in a suit in his films. The third film, which seems rather hard to find, was titled "Bigfoot: Alive and Well in '82". If you have watched any of these film you will see the bigfoots in them doing random stuff like running, swimming, bathing, waving at the camera and even playing kick the can, I'm told.
Ivan Marx passed away in 1999.
What some may not know or realize is that a now pretty famous and controversial bigfoot research actually worked with Marx making the hoaxed films. Below is a news paper clipping, can you spot this controversial figure?
That's right, a young Tom Biscardi (on the right). It seems that many people do no know that Biscardi was involved in the making of these films. He seems to have played a very big part and is quoted in the article above. In the second film Biscardi is on camera and plays an on screen part. On researching this post, I also discovered that Biscardi is selling all 3 of these films on his website, Searching for bigfoot.
Ivan Marx was a mentor to Tom Biscardi and it seems that Biscardi has continued Marx's work. Most know Tom Biscardi from the famous "Bigfoot in the freezer" hoax. It launched another famous and controversial bigfoot figure, Rick Dyer.
With that said, I will admit that over the years I have enjoyed watching some of Biscardi's films, even though I can't put a lot of stock into them. I still found them enjoyable....and he loves Snapple, so he can't be all bad, right?
Well, there you go. I just wanted to share that old newspaper clip and some information. It is all kind of fascinating how all this stuff is intertwined. It is kind of like that Kevin Bacon thing...Six degrees of separation game. The idea where everyone can be connect to each other in six steps of less. Now, that is something to think about.
Oh, just one more thing. Ivan Marx always insisted that his films and pictures of bigfoot were real and not fake.
Thanks
Tom

This is indeed the whole situation is a rather controversial situation because not one of the researchers can come to a single opinion.
