Okay, so I know I'm a Johnny come lately on this picture but it seems to keep popping up. I will admit at first view of this a week or so ago, I just dismissed it and moved on. But now I have a little more time and wanted to either confirm or change my opinion.

First let me give you a very quick and short back story to the pictures. Supposedly, a guy's grandfather passed away and the grandson found these old photographs of bigfoot tucked away somewhere. Of course the images are in black and white attesting to them being "old".  The picture shows two bigfoot looking creatures standing on a snow covered road.  Originally there were two photo presented but for today's post we will just look at this main one.

The next question is can we prove or debunk the photo as real or fake, I think we can.

Just doing a very quick look at this image with software that looks for editing, we learn that the image appears to be a screen capture using a program known as GNOME. GNOME Screenshot is a utility used in the GNOME desktop environment for taking screenshots. It was part of the GNOME Utilities (gnome-utils) package, but was split into its own package. So, that really don't prove anything...well at least to me.

But if we just look at the actual figures in the close up on the left, we can maybe detect something. If you will notice the larger figure and the smaller figure appear to be the exact same figure, only one is smaller. This leads me to believer it was a "clone" of the larger figure and was pasted and made smaller in the image. There also appears to be some attempt at smoothing the edges of the figures to make them look more natural.
So, in other words there appears to be evidence that this image is a photoshoped image. The two figures are in the same position or stance and appear to have been added into the image. The back story does seem plausible but it is probably just made up as well.

Again, I do not know where or who first presented this story and photo. I think the first time I saw it was on the Bigfoot evidence blog but I did not read the backstory or anything.

So, in my opinion the photo is a photoshopped/fake image.

Thanks
~Tom~

  1. good job on analyzing the photo, that's one of the first things that popped into my head and that it looked like it was a photo manipulation
