I got this report in a couple days ago of two people who heard a very disturbing howl. The report is very detailed, I hope you take the time to read it over.

Describe sighting in detail:
It was opening day of the Kentucky modern firearms season and I had to work that weekend. I went outside of the building for a smoking break and was chatting with a co-worker about nothing in particular. I am a nurse and my friend is a deputy Jailer. The sun was up and it was a calm sunny morning, no wind and a really nice day. I was wishing I was in the deerstand. Anyway, we were chatting when a sound only I can describe as a scream and roar started and lasted for a good 25 seconds. Keep in mind that there are woods in back of the building that I would say run approximately three miles. The woods are very mature with hardwoods and thick cedars and brush.
The sound startled both of us. I am originally from Utah and have spent countless hours hunting, camping, and fishing in the Wasatch and Uintah mountains and have never heard a sound like this. I have hunted, camped and fished in the state of Kentucky for twenty plus years and have never heard this sound before. This scream was a cross between an elephant in a rage, and a lion roaring. This scream launched and then climbed in pitch then came back down with the massive roar. We stood there in complete awe of the scream we heard. This came off a very steep hill and you could tell it was probably a quarter to a half mile away. The lung capacity it would have taken to do this is beyond understanding. The sound was indescribable and thunderous.I looked at my co-worker and said. "Dont say anything, and on the count of three, tell me what you think that was." I counted to three and he said "Bigfoot." And I said "Sasaquatch." We both had chills.
We stayed out there longer than usual to listen longer, but it did not do it again. My co-worker stated he also has spent alot of hours in the woods and has never heard anything even close to that roar. I have heard fox, coyote etc make some crazy sounds, but that was no fox or coyote. I always carry firearms when camping or hiking or riding my ATV. Whatever this was, would have without a doubt ran me out of the woods without a second thought. This was way too long, loud and creepy to really even describe. I thought about this incident for a couple weeks and was perplexed about it. I kept thinking about why this thing would roar like that on a quiet sunny windless day. I thought about it and the only thing I can come up with is that maybe it had run into a hunter or something and was trying to get the hunter out of the woods. If that were true, I would have loved to have talked to him, if that were the case, this man would have been in total fear for his life. because I would have been frozen in fear, high powered rifle or not!
After a couple weeks, I decided to report this anonymously to the BFRO online. I received a call from an investigator and told her of our encounter. At the end of the conversation, she told me that a sighting had occurred about a mile away, and a homeowner had called in a report of a "Hairy creature" walking on a wooded hillside behind his home, and that this had occurred about a week and a half prior to my incident. All I can say is that there is something up there. I will always be paying attention while in the woods. This has remained in the back of my mind, and I don't joke about these things any longer. When this happens to you, it will change your perceptions, trust me.

Now, that is very interesting and the idea that bigfoot was trying to scare off a hunter seems very plausible. While this general area would seem fairly populated, there are some pretty large wooded areas as well.
A big thanks to Russell for sharing his experience with us.
Thanks
~Tom~
