Continuing with my look back at vintage sighting reports, today we learn about an 11 foot tall, orange eyed monster that is said to stalks Lover lane.

The creature is estimated to weight 1000 pounds and live in Central Ohio near a lonely road named Lovers Lane. It was in this area where the creature is said to stalk occupants of parked cars and scare teenagers.

It seems like every town has a "Lovers Lane" but not all of them have a local monster terrorize young lovers.

The orange eyed monster was first sighted on March 28, 1959 when three teenagers observed a huge hairy orange beast rise from a ground fog at Charles, Mill Reservoir, near Mansfield. Then about 4 years later the beast appeared again and this time it was witnessed by several people.

No one was sure where this creature lived, but it was assumed that the beast might be living in a tunnel in Cleveland's Riverside. Then in the 1940's and 1960's highway construction destroyed the tunnel that orange eyed monster was alleged to be living in, forcing the creature to live in a stretch of forest behind the Cleveland Zoo. Finally a group of teenagers invaded the creatures habitat on April 22, 1968 and chased the creature armed with baseball bats, flashlights, and ropes. They went into the forest to try to capture or kill the creature but they found no sign of the beast.

June 1991 old orange eyes appeared again and this time the beast ran past two people fishing near Willis Creek scaring the daylights out them before disappearing. It was said the way to find this creature was on Ruggles Road near Blue Bridge and if the creature was there, it would appear out of  curiosity.

Witnesses of the orange eyed monster say that there is no monster at all, that just some crazy hermit or jokester nailed two round orange bike reflectors to a stick or that it was teenagers using Christmas tree lights, flashlights to frighten one another.

Now, if we look at the description of the supposed creature, it has striking similarities to our good buddy Bigfoot.

I have no idea if any of this story is real but there could very well have be a bigfoot in this area. It is also very common for people to come up with all kinds of ways to explain sightings away. I have heard and know of places where bigfoot have been seen on and off for 50 years or more. Some areas seem to have routine sightings for years.

Just remember....stay away from Lovers Lane.
