According to a few courageous scientists, as soon as DNA evidence entered the arena of the human story, the theory of evolution, at least in humans, should have died a natural death. Because DNA evidence has shaken the foundation of a hundred years of belief, and albeit worship, of Darwin’s famous theory that humans evolved from apes. But Darwin is said to have always claimed that his theory could eventually be disproven. And not even he could have ever predicted what would happen in the future, and the information we would be able to derive from genetic material.

The famous founder of The Star Child Project and human origins researcher, the late Lloyd Pye, called this new evidence the “smoking gun” in the case against human evolution from great apes.

There is no question that humans are unique on this planet and science is trying to piece together the story of why that is. As far as we know now, about 200,000 years ago, modern humans emerged, seemingly out of nowhere, to become the dominant force on the planet. And in spite of the arguments for evolution, no matter where we live, or what we eat, or how we conduct our lives, we’ve not changed at all or evolved in any way in all that time. And to this day, no real link has been found between apes and humans. Science cannot conclusively prove with the fossil record that humans evolved over a period of time from great apes. The evidence is just not there.

So, fast forward to the smoking gun.

In layman's terms, first of all, apes have 48 chromosomes and humans have only 46. Why? According to solid, peer-reviewed science, the second chromosome in humans is the result of a fusion. And it’s this unique genetic anomaly that makes us unique on the planet.


This photo illustrates the fusion. The tops of the chromosomes, or centromeres, have been cut, as is illustrated in the center of the photo. And then those two centromeres were fused together, as is illustrated to the right of the photo. And then, the bottoms of the chromosomes were completely removed, making the new, resulting fused chromosome more efficient.

But that’s not the most interesting part.

The most interesting part of this genetic information is that, as far as we know right now, the only way this kind of genetic manipulation can be accomplished is artificially. It is the result of intent by someone or something to create us.

And this is where the controversy starts. Because, as much as we don’t want to say this too loudly, this could very well be peer-reviewed scientific evidence for intelligent design, or the idea that we humans were the result of intentional design by a “creator.”  And let me be clear, I have no religious agenda. I’m not a Christian. This doesn’t have to be a debate between Atheists and Theists.  But if this was bio-engineering by someone or something else, who was it? Who had the intent to create us and did the actual work involved?

A more highly intelligent humanoid? Aliens? Or something else?

And I’ll say it again, this is peer-reviewed science. Scientists basically agree on this information as fact. They just don’t seem to know what to do with it. Why? Because it changes everything. It changes the whole human story. It would change all the history books. And it begs new questions that we never dreamed we’d be asking: Who created us and why?

The general consensus is that we humans can’t handle this kind of information and they like to keep it under wraps.  But it appears that science can’t handle it either. Will they bring this to the forefront and examine it further. Will they challenge their own preconceptions?  We’ll see what happens. But in the meantime, this information isn’t going away.
