Overview
A witness traveling through rural Cochise County, Arizona, reported seeing an unusually large Great Horned Owl perched on a fence post near a desert wash. The owl’s size and behavior suggested something far beyond normal proportions.

Creature Description
The witness described a massive Great Horned Owl, estimated at 4 feet tall with a wingspan exceeding 8 feet.
Its eyes glowed yellow‑orange in the headlights, and its feathers appeared mottled brown and grey.
When startled, the owl spread its wings and lifted off silently, gliding across the desert wash before disappearing into the night.
Additional Notes
The witness noted that the owl’s size was “like a small person.” The sighting occurred near a stretch of desert road bordered by mesquite and cactus, under a clear night sky. No other reports were filed in the area at that time.
