Strange Black Figure Spotted
This report comes from the Netherlands. It is not often we get reports from this area of the world, even though they have their fair share of legends, myths, and cryptids.
What follows is the witness submitted report and our email exchange. At the end of the post, I will try to give a little more insight into it.

Describe what you saw:
We were walking our dogs across Overdinkel coordinates (52.2436349, 7.0372826) and at the end of the road there was a bridge with a little light and there was a black figure about 7ft long walking there on all fours. We got scared because we don't have such large animals anywhere here.
It seemed to have a human face, I would like to no know more about this mysterious figure.

The only thing I can attribute it to for your area would be a Water Wolf - basically an aquatic wolf.

Well, I felt weird and scared. It definitely scared me for months. I didn’t cross or come close to the same street the sighting was, we (me and my friend) were running away in the woods, not that good of an idea because we looked back and that big black figure or that water wolf was kinda following us in a 1 Kilometer distance. We got inside the neighborhood and it got back in the small woods. I have not seen the thing ever after but I have heard a farmer that lived close to the bridge he talked about it in 2017.
I thought it was a made-up story but it is not. This is all the information I can give you.

I will admit I don't know a big lot about cryptids from the Netherlands but I am able to do some research on the subject via the internet. I think there are at least three possibilities as to just what this might have been. One is the Water Wolf, which is basically an aquatic wolf-type creature. Two would be a Boeman, which is basically a kind of catch-all in the way we in the States use the word Bogeyman. Third, with it having a human face, I wonder if it could have been a shadow person?
I think we can rule out some of the more common Dutch legends like; Dwarfs, elves, and gnomes.
