Okay, so it has been a long time since I did a Fact or Faked post, but today I thought I would break another one out. The above photo has been a pretty hot item and has circulated on social media for months. There are a few variations as to where the photo was taken, but the most common seems to be I-40 near Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I have travel several times to the Pigeon Forge area, so I'm somewhat familiar with the landscape.
The photograph depicts a Cthulhu looking monster in the clouds. Some attribute the strange formation to aliens and others think it is a series of tornadoes. The image gives a ominous feeling of impending doom.
So, with a little digging and searching I was able to find out just where the picture comes from and more about it. The highway in the photograph is not in Tennessee. In fact, it is not even in the United States. The highway in the picture is near Sofia, Bulgaria. In the original photograph there is no "cloud monster".
This version of the photograph was created by digital artist Da ShadeE. Da ShadeE said this about the image, "It is a freehand painting over a photo, done in Photoshop." Apparently, Da ShadeE used google search to obtain the original picture, without a monster in it. Then created the artwork he titled "Cthulhu Raising". Then all it took was some creative storytellers using his artwork to make it go viral.
So, in conclusion the photo is fake when it is said to be a real creature or photograph taken near Pigeon Forge. But you have to admit that artwork is fantastic.
Cloud Monster Photo = Fake
Thanks
