The Deer Hunter - Bigfoot Style
Over the years there has been several claims of someone shooting a Bigfoot and in some cases even killing it. Most of those claims and stories have turned out to be hoaxes. Some of them were more elaborate than others, one more recent one even included a fake body. A few of them were credible stories of someone shooting at a Bigfoot or shooting a Bigfoot but the creature or person ran off. One case that comes to mind is the man I interviewed from Virginia, Hunter shoots Bigfoot. The idea of killing a Bigfoot has spawned many stories, movies and even a recent TV show called Killing Bigfoot.

There are basically two groups that have formed over the idea of killing a Bigfoot. The PRO kill side and the Anti-Kill side. Personally, I'm a no kill guy. The train of thought is that by killing one you would provide a body for science and thus proving once and for all that Bigfoot is real. But I also question who are you proving it to? The skeptics? Those that will not even consider the current evidence? So, one has to die just to convince some closed minded person? Not worth it for me.

Anyways, this all kind of got me to thinking. What time of the year and what conditions would it be most likely that someone would shoot at or shoot a Bigfoot?  While I know that about any hunting season it could happen, I think deer hunting season would be the most likely time for a hunter to shoot a Bigfoot.

Just a few days ago in my area, a deer hunter (I'm assuming) shot a bear and killed it. The place was swarming with game wardens. I don't know if they found out who actually shot it or not. This time of year for about a week, the woods and this area of Kentucky is filled with deer hunters. I normally do not go out Bigfoot researching during this time. For one it is dangerous and second I want to respect those who hunt deer.

Now, if we think about the many reports of hunters encountering a Bigfoot we can seen that hunting seasons in general have the most potential of someone shooting or seeing a Bigfoot. Then out of all the hunting seasons, I would assume that deer hunting season has the most potential. For one, deer season is probably the most popular of the hunting seasons, at least in my area, and more people are in the woods. Another potential factor is that with deer hunting most hunters are out really early and are well hid. Often times a more high powered weapon is used during deer season, except for bow season, than other seasons, like turkey season. During turkey season or squirrel season you would most likely use some sort of shot gun.

I know this is nothing knew to a lot you but for people like me, who have an interest in Bigfoot, it gives us a time frame for potential reports. Those of us who document Bigfoot sightings should pay extra attention during hunting season, deer season particularly. The potential of fresh sightings should be higher during this time.  During this time there are many more eyes and ears in the woods, fields and mountains than any other time. The leaves are almost all gone during the fall hunting season, this increases visibility.

Many Bigfoot sighting reports come from hunters. Often times they have a weapon of some sort but the shock of seeing the creature causes them to freeze and not take a shot. This is good in my eyes, as I don't want Bigfoot shot and them seeing Bigfoot hopefully leads to them filing a sightings report.

With all that said, I want to encourage anyone who has seen a Bigfoot to please file a report with us. I think it is important to document sightings and encounters. Each time a person comes forward it has the potential to help someone else come forward and tell their story. Each report has value and can add in another little piece of the puzzle.

Thanks
~Tom~
