Kelly Air Force Base, Texas - The summer of 1976 brought fear to the community near the Kelly Air Force Base. A few people were brave enough to report their encounters and even talk to the newspaper.

It seemed to start one morning when Ed Olivarri was getting ready to head to his job around 7 am. Hearing his dog barking, he ventured outside to see what was going on. Ed walked slowly and cautiously through his yard down to the fence, looking out towards the wooded area. A train whistle blew from the nearby tracks and a large animal about 40 yards away rose out of the grass.

"The animal must have been hiding or lying down because when the whistle blew, it started running. It looked like some kind of 'Big Foot' monster. It was about seven feet tall with short brown hair over its body. It was running on two legs like a man, but a little more awkwardly." Said Olivarri.

The animal disappeared from sight into the nearby woods.

Since that sighting, the neighborhood dogs would howl late at night.

A few days later, Ed's neighbor Mrs. Medina had her own experience.  It was nighttime when her dog began barking. She went to the window to look out and saw some sort of animal on her back steps. She was too scared to open the door or go outside, she instead tapped on the window. She was surprised to see the animal jump up on two feet and run off. She thought it was about 3 ft. tall and had brown hair.

Ed believed the creatures were a mother and child and lived in the nearby wooded area. He even searched the woods and found some unusual-looking footprints, similar to barefoot human prints. He did not see the animals again.

A number of the residents told the newspaper that they were afraid to go outside when night came.

Ed's mother, Mrs. Guadalupe Olivarri said: "I'm not going to come out here alone." Her daughter, Ed's sister, Yolanda added: "Last night the dogs were barking and I heard a low growling, but I was afraid to look outside."
