Ouija board Session sends players to the Hospital

We have posted many times about the Ouija Board. We also did a deep dive into the history and origins of the Ouija Board in a four-part series done by the late Nancy Marietta. The Ouija board game is a board with letters, numbers, and other signs around its edge that is often used to make contact with the dead.

I recently was made aware of an incident where 28 schoolgirls in Colombia were hospitalized with anxiety attacks after allegedly playing with Ouija boards at their school. This got me to look for other similar stories.
First, let's cover the 28 schoolgirls story which took place in March of 2023.

The incident occurred at the Galeras Educational Institution in Galeras. The girls reportedly experienced signs of fainting, anxiety, and other symptoms while at school. They were subsequently admitted to a municipal hospital, accompanied by parents and school faculty.

“There were 28 possible cases of anxiety in school students,” said Hugo Torres, head of the Galeras Educational Institution in Galeras, where the incident took place, per Jam Press.

Info on the students’ diagnoses has yet to be released, however many parents blame the in-school use of Ouija boards. The Ouija board was created in the US in 1886, Ouija boards have become a fixture in occult lore due to their alleged ability to communicate with the dead. They are often used by various paranormal groups and those who are into the occult.

“The school is waiting for the medical diagnoses to provide further reliable information,” explained Torres, who implored the community to avoid making “early judgments and diagnoses of their own” in the interim.

It is unclear when the school plans to update the public on the students’ condition while authorities have not confirmed whether a police investigation is underway.

This story was covered by about all the major news outlets and most tabloid-style websites. To my knowledge, there was no official follow-up that gave the medical diagnoses.

Story 2 - This was reported back in November of 2022.

Teachers at the Agricultural Technical Institute in Hato, Columbia, were shocked upon discovering the group of students had collapsed in a corridor. The 11 students were suffering from violent vomiting and muscle spasms. The children, aged between 13 and 17, were rushed to the Manuela Beltrán Hospital, in the district of Socorro.

Apparently, the children had taken part in an Ouija board game before being found passed out. Jose Pablo Toloza Rondón, the mayor of Hato said: "The children were passed out, at the time they were found they were short of breath, and thick drool was coming out of their mouths. It is not ruled out that it was the ouija board, that is part of the investigation."

The youngsters spent a day there getting treatment, but the mysterious cause of their illness has left staff baffled. One possible explanation put forth was that the children were suffering due to food poisoning.

Story 3 - 3 American friends were hospitalized after playing Ouija board. This was reported back in June of 2014.

Three American friends were hospitalized after becoming 'possessed' following an Ouija board game in a Mexican village. The three were taken to hospital after reportedly becoming 'possessed' by evil spirits while playing with an Ouija board.

Alexandra Huerta, 22, was playing the game with her brother Sergio, 23, and 18-year-old cousin Fernando Cuevas at a house in the village of San Juan Tlacotenco in southwest Mexico.

But minutes into it, she apparently started 'growling' and thrashing around in a 'trance-like' state.
Meanwhile, Sergio and Fernando also reportedly started showing signs of 'possession', including feelings of blindness, deafness, and hallucinations.

Paramedics were called to the house and took the trio to hospital, according to Alexandra's parents.
They restrained Alexandra to prevent her from hurting herself.

Alexandra started 'growling' and thrashing around in a 'trance-like' state, according to her parents.

Victor Demesa, 46, the director of public safety in the nearby town of Tepoztlan, said: "The medical rescue of these three young people was very complicated. They had involuntary movements and it was difficult to transfer them to the nearest hospital because they were so erratic.
It appeared as if they were in a trance-like state, apparently after playing with the Ouija board."

Demesa went on to say: "They spoke of feeling numbness, double vision, blindness, deafness, hallucinations, muscle spasm and difficulty swallowing."

To my knowledge, there was no further follow-up to this story.

Please use caution if you are interested in playing around with an Ouija board. I have known many people who have used them for years with no issues but I also know a few who have had some problems. I personally had a bad experience playing an Ouija board while in my late teens. I have no interest in playing one anymore.

I just wanted to share these stories because if I missed them, I'm sure others did as well.

Thanks
~Thomas~
